100 % organic unbleached cotton kachery material is best , although other cotton is still ok ( density is important for modesty when wet) .

To cut one kachera:

you need a rectangular piece that is as deep as the desired finished length plus two inches for napha , DOUBLED . The width will be where your folds will come from so it will be 1/2 your hip measurement + one inch for stitching + how many extra inches ease you would like +10 is a good startpoint .

you will also need to cut 1.5 inch wide material wide strips to join up and sew down after folding to create the Nala

also you need to create two moree pieces out of same material to strengthen and finish the legholes. 3 inch wide and around leg at opening measure +5 inches.

I will sew a kachera and photo the steps , if someone can advise me how to upload that would be appreciated... then everyone will know the 'secret of construction' of this most mystical kakkar... :biggrin2:
