International Ahluwalia Samaj formed

Tribune News Service

Patiala, May 1

A society has been established under the name of International Ahluwalia Samaj to promote brotherhood among members of the Ahluwalia community residing in different parts of the country.

The society members also decided that Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Vice-Chairman of the Planning Commission of India, and Mr Parkash Jaiswal, Minister of State for Home Affairs, would be requested to be the patrons of the society.

A meeting in this regard was held in Delhi recently in which members from all states of India were present. Mr Charanjit Singh Walia, former MP, was elected chairman of the society. He was authorised to nominate other members of the society. The society also decided to celebrate the birth centenary of Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, a national hero and who fought against the tyranny of the mughals. Jassa Singh was the first leader who hoisted the National Flag at the Red Fort in Delhi.

The society members also decided to celebrate the birth and the martyrdom day of Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia in different parts of the country every year.

The society would also celebrate Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia’s birthday on May 3 in the Central State Library, Patiala. Mr Parkash Jaiswal, Minister of State for Home Affairs, will be the chief guest on the occasion.

sikh history says that the khalsa sardars hoisted the kesri nishaan sahib, the flag of the khalsa at the red fort not the "national" flag. There was no national flag of india at that time. we need to all write to these buffoons at the tribune to stop them from distorting sikh history. They find it convenient to mark all sikh acts as "national" acts. please write to them.

peace.

Sat Sri Akal:

Sardar Baghel Singh, along with the Khalsa army, indeed marched into Delhi after defeating the Mughals and raised the Kesri Nishan Sahib in the Lal Quila (Red Fort). I believe that he also ripped out the Delhi throne and had it placed into the Akal Thakat (not sure if it is still there).

Also, the Aluwalia Sardar Jassa Singh was never appointed as a Nawab...that distinction was only for Nawab Kapoor Singh.

Jassa Singh Ahluwalia was appointed successor to Nawab Kapoor Singh so it is ok to use the Nawab title. Remember the divisionist ramgharis like to use the title Maharaja for Jassa Singh Ramgharia even though he never ruled enough area to even be considered a Raja let alone a Maharaja.

Sardar Baghel Singh Ji who was head of the Karora Singhia misl also built many of the Gurdwara in Delhi although they were later destroyed and taken over by muslims and restored to the panth later.

Actually Jassa Singh Ji Ramgarhia did rule a lot of land at one point, he was one of the most powerful misl sardars of the 18th century. Although he wasnt ever called Maharaja or Raja in history, usually just Sardar Jassa Singh. Its his birthday on the 5th May I think! Jassa Singh Ramgarhia (just like the other Jassa Singh) was a great Sikh and warrior, its worth reading about there jeevan if u get a chance.

He was never in the same league as Jassa Singh Ahluwalia. He wife killed a infant daughter and he was called a kuree marr and boycotted by other misl leaders. I know the area he ruled and have visited his old capital (Fatehabad, now in Haryana) many times. His area of rule was miniscule compared to the areas of ruled by Jassa Singh Ahluwalia.

He never really got on with Guru Ka Lal (Sultan e quam) Jassa Singh Ahluwalia. In fact Jassa Singh Ahluwalia was once captured by the brothers of Jassa Singh Ramgharia, although Jassa Singh Ramgharia did apologise and release him with a robe of honour etc. Mali Singh Ramgharia (brother of Jassa Singh) was the cause of many of his problems.

I have never understood why those who like to refer to themselves as Ramgharia (thakaan) refer to Jassa Singh as Maharaja.

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
