I've realised recently, that Sikhi works along science alot.

Could someone please explain to me any scientific reasons for taking Amrit.

Apart from the fact its submitting yourself to Guru Ji, what are the practical logical aspects of it, like wearing a Dastaar is meant to keep in that spiritual energy around the head, and keep it concentrated, also protects the most important part of you body, keeps hair clean e.c.t

What about Amrit? Its important I understand..But Why...?

I'm not sure but in Alternative Medicine class i took a year ago, Prof. told us that drinking water from a "Sarab Loh" Iron utensil, after you keep water in for a while, gives your body strength and freshens it. It also according to chinese, provides iron to body and filters blood, meaning purify's it.

Our guru's had a lot of knowledge thats why they used iron utensils, and so do some people today.. theres a chinese logic of purifying blood behind it.

hanji, keeping that in mind. amrit is not limited to that. science cant explain the spiritual aspect of it

I know but ^(he) wanted to know science behind it not spriulaity, and yeah its also a part of Spritual Therapy, in Chinese & Japanese tradition a person of high spritual status or in good health can pour water in Iron utensil and give it to sick one, tranferring heealing power to help sick one recover...

Heres some more medical explanation, its not much realted but has to do with Iron and Water in our diet, thought might go along with it:-

The total amount of iron in the human body is approximately 4 g, of which 70% is present in red blood colouring agents. Iron is a dietary requirement for humans, just as it is for many other organisms. Men require approximately 7 mg iron on a daily basis, whereas women require 11 mg. The difference is determined by menstrual cycles. When people feed normally these amounts can be obtained rapidly. The body absorbs approximately 25% of all iron present in food. When someone is iron deficit feed iron intake may be increased by means of vitamin C tablets, because this vitamin reduces tertiary iron to binary iron. Phosphates and phytates decrease the amount of binary iron.

In food iron is present as binary iron bound to haemoglobin and myoglobin, or as tertiary iron. The body may particularly absorb the binary form of iron.

Iron is a central component of haemoglobin. It binds oxygen and transports it from lungs to other body parts. It than transports CO2 back to the lungs, where it can be breathed out. Oxygen storage also requires iron. Iron is a part of several essential enzymes, and is involved in DNA synthesis. Normal brain functions are iron dependent.

In the body iron is strongly bound to transferrin, which enables exchange of the metal between cells. The compound is a strong antibiotic, and it prevents bacteria from growing on the vital element. When one is infected by bacteria, the body produces high amounts of transferrin.

When iron exceeds the required amount, it is stored in the liver. The bone marrow contains high amounts of iron, because it produces haemoglobin.

Iron deficits lead to anaemia, causing tiredness, headaches and loss of concentration. The immune system is also affected. In young children this negatively affects mental development, leads to irritability, and causes concentration disorder. Young children, pregnant women and women in their period are often treated with iron (II) salts upon iron deficits.

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!

Awesome post Singh Soorma, but its completely unrelated to the question. What is the scientific purpose of Amrit?

The main key of Amrit is basically water stirred while doing bani. There is some metaphysical stuff going on that I really don't understand, but it goes something like this:

Doing bani, while concentrating, allows one to emanate waves. Like anyone in science will tell you, metals, such as iron, act as really good transmitters of waves. The water absorbs these waves. In a way, think of a magnet. The magnet releases magnetic fields (waves) that cause other metals nearby to change their subatomic structure to line up to a wave. That is why a magnet attracts metal.

The same thing happens with amrit: the waves are transmitted via the metal (sarbloh in this case) into the water, which you drink and is absorbed into your body. Now your natural meditation is weakish, but when your own water molecules come in contact with the amrit, they can too take on a similar structure, and it kinda passes along. This is my understanding anyways.

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!

Dear Khalsa4everji,

Wonderful question you have raised. This question has been raised on many

forums with different views. I will suggest you to hear the tapes (Amrit) of Veer Bhupinder Singh,

(www.thelivingtreasure.org) and you will get your answer. A lot of people curious to know this are

satisfied after hearing these tapes. you can ask for these through this website.

The Power Of The Word, The Water And Why Sikhs Are Blessed

Dr. Masaru Emoto came to a local event to present his research. He has dedicated his life towards the research of what power the spoken word has on water. He does this by taking pictures of water right at the point of freezing and examines what happens to the crystal structure in situations where various words are spoken with different emotions. People question what can Amrit prepared by the Panj Pyare do? What power can it have? It's just 5 people stirring water and sugar a Sarbloh bowl with a Sarbloh Khanda. Well, here's an answer. Mere good thoughts and love can transform water. The Spoken Word can have a tremendous impact on water itself, as it demonstrated by the Dr. Emoto's research. Now think for a moment: 5 Sikhs, who are themselves immersed in Gurbani and Rehat, concentrating on that Amrit with mind and body, reading Gurbani, THE WORD. What impact would that have on that Amrit? Could it not transmutate that water, sugar and Sarbloh to Amrit? Prayer itself has a tremendous impact on the water as demonstrated by the pictures at the linked webpage...what would the presence of the Guru in Panj Pyare Roop reciting Gurbani have on that Amrit? Truly the worldly ingredients used in the Amrit Ceremony would and can transform to a substance of the Divine. Remember that the majority component of the body is water. Think of what impact Gurbani could have on that water in your body. Gurbani says "Sarbh Rogh Ka Aukhad Naam" and "Mera Vaid Guru Gobinda, Har Har Naam Aukhad Mukh Devai"...praising the Name as the medicine of all ills. Those who think this is mere analogy may want to reconsider in light of such research.

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
