Wedding Re-arranged to Gurdwara Sahib

Over the past three years the Sikh Community has united to stop the abuse of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Sikh Principles.

To date over 170 Anand Karaj’s have been re-arranged from hotels, banqueting suites, clubs etc, where alcohol, meat & tobacco are served, to Gurdwaras. Guru Ji has blessed all those involved in resolving these situations.

This year a wedding taking place on 28th January has already been re-arranged with the help of the Family of the bride. We would like to publicly thank the Gill family for their co-operation and most of all their respect for Guru Ji. They have shown so much sharda towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji that we felt the need, with their permission to name them.

The campaign has also been made aware of another anand karaj which took place in a hotel. But no information has been forthcoming.

The Sangat must continue to be vigilant and act effectively on issues of abuse towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Sikh Principles. We collectively need to educate all those around us, family, friends, and colleagues.

With the “wedding season” commencing soon, the UK Sikh Community implore those who are planning to conduct an Anand Karaj in a hotel, club, banqueting suite, etc, to rearrange to a Gurdwara Sahib maintaining respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

All Gurdwara Sahibs and Gianis need to take note that they are in danger of being singled out by people and given the blame for issues of disrespect.

Taking Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to a hotel or any such establishment where meat, alcohol & tobacco are served is a sacrilegious act, totally in contradiction to the teachings of our Gurus and edicts from Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Building on from last year the Campaign has again been in contact with most venues and wedding arrangers. Sevadaars are also meeting with Gurdwara Committees across the UK to work alongside them to increase the parchaar regarding the respect for Guru Ji.

We urge all Sikhs to take the task of joint responsibility and stop leaving our collective problems for someone else to sort out. We must be honest about Sikhi principles and not selfish about compromising these principles for our own benefit or for the benefit of our friends, relations or acquaintances.

170 Weddings stopped is a large figure. Thats like more than one beadbi a week over the last 3 years. Can R4G list the Gurdwaras and Granthis who have organised weddings in halls?? Also can R4G give the venues who were allowing Anand Karajs. What areas in UK have these beadbis been happening??

The giani is always the one who gets away unfortunetly. I know R4G have named and shamed many Gurdwaras and Gianis in the past.

I know during July, August and September the R4G is overwhelmed with weddings. I remember speaking to one of the sevadaars who said in August alone they prevented 20-30 weddings. Now we dont all see the hard work they put in.

For hotels London is the worst culprit. With majority being in West London. All the hotels on the Heathrow road i think!

R4G says alot of venues they have contacted have said they were not aware and will not allow this in future. This is soemthing that needs to be worked on.

R4G and the Grathis who organise such events are at opposite sides of the spectrum, however the spectrum being the same of ignorance, intolerance, lack of awareness, misinformation, lack of education etc. It is the core of such issues that need to be addressed to stop such incidents occurring. The solution is not a bunch of Robin Hood type characters slapping their own backs every time they claim to save the Guru. The R4G clan are known for there bigoted ideology. It is only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured.

I am surprised Kuljeet you of all people are pushing their cause, are you not the Nihang Singh from West London or have I mixed you up with someone else?

yawwwwnnn yeeeehh ermm.. ok then

anyway, well done guys, keep up the good work!

And guys please be careful in choosing the wording we use as the wrong words can often paint a different picture. Rather then saying that x number of weddings have been STOPPED, lets use the correct word which is REARRANGED.

Not to break you shell or anything but the Campaign is not as perfect as you say where the only mistake they have made is using the wrong words in a press release.

You cannot ignore the perceptions that exist about the campaign.

i was actually referring to your use of the word STOPPED, and not theirs. they used RE-ARRANGED.

May maharajh bless the sevadars with kirpa, budhi, himmat, nimrata, pyar and fateh!

may he also bless fools like me who sit at home and do nothing with some aukul!

Drop this notion that anyone who doesn't belong to an anti-beadbi group or a jatha "sits at home and does nothing" or is “useless”. Everyone has a contribution, whether it’s naam abyas, nit-nem, langer sewa, daswand, kirtan etc. Whether we realise it or not indirectly we all play a part in the fateh of the khalsa. Each one’s sewa in any form and in any size, is an endowment towards the Khalsa Panth and once we truly realise we are all one then we will always see fateh!!! Until then we will simply keep cultivating our superiority complexes.
