Sad (a) To Split

Recommended Posts

It appears that Mann is power hungry and cant bare seeing new blood i.e. bittu.

He is just out to get Badal and Badal Jnr, not to put forward any pro panthic agenda - just a vendetta against Badal. Any thoughts?

Split in SAD (A) imminent as Bittu remains adamant

Amritsar, August 25

The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), headed by Simranjit Singh Mann is on the verge of split as Daljit Singh Bittu, senior vice chief of the party, is adamant to continue to be co- convener of the Khalsa Action Committee (KAC), despite the warning issued by the party chief.

The fissures within the SAD(A) had come to the fore when party president had announced the snapping of ties with the KAC. Bittu had merged his Shiromani Khalsa Dal with the SAD (A) at Akal Takht on June 9 last year and became its senior vice-president.

Talking to The Tribune here today, Bittu said he would actively participate in the forthcoming meeting of the KAC. He said he had taken this decision since the KAC had been doing a great job by organising Panthic marches against the living gurus, especially Dera Sacha Sauda chief who had been indulging in blasphemous activities. Bittu said after consulting his confidants he would take a formal decision whether to snap ties with the SAD (A) or not .

However, he said he had been receiving a number of calls from India and abroad suggesting he should serve the Panth by organising Khalsa marches, being organised by the KAC .

SAD (A) secretary general Bhai Ram Singh however, reiterated the party’s stand that Bittu would have to decide whether to remain with the party or the KAC as announced by the party president . He said Mann had already made it clear that no party leader could hold position in any other organisation. “ Party discipline is more important than anything”, he said.

Earlier, Bittu held a marathon meeting with Kanwarpal Singh, a spokesman for the Dal Khalsa and Harinder Singh Khalsa, a former MP in the office of the Dal Khalsa here to discuss next course of action . However, the meeting of the KAC which was proposed to be held was postponed due to lack of quorum.

someone i know who has met him said he is a bit mad and goes off on tangents

SAD (A) shows door to Bittu

Tribune News Service

Fatehgarh Sahib, August 26

Citing disciplinary reasons, the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) today relieved Daljit Singh Bittu of the post of senior vice-president.

Party president Sirmranjit Singh Mann said the party had to take this step keeping in view the “suspected” activities of Bittu, who, despite warning, had refused to fall in line. Bittu, who held the post of senior vice-president of the SAD (A), was also holding the post of convener of the Khalsa Action Committee (KAC).

Mann had recently announced to break ties with the KAC and had also asked the partymen not to participate in any programmes of the KAC. But as Bittu refused to abandon the KAC, the party today announced his expulsion from the party.

Mann said Bittu was trying to dominate the party leadership and, hence, such a step had to be initiated.

Levelling serious charges against Bittu of having threatened partymen of dire consequences, Mann explained that he had allowed Bittu to join the SAD (A) last year considering that he had been rehabilitated and deserved a chance to reform.

Mann said even if Bittu realised and apologised now, he would not be allowed to join the SAD (A) fold, given the fact that he had been indulging in anti-party activities.

The SAD(A) chief said his party still stood for the agenda on which the KAC was formed. "However, the way secret meetings were held with the Chief Ministers of Punjab and Haryana and representatives of Dera Sacha Sauda without taking the party into confidence had created suspicion," he added.

He said the party in its own capacity would continue seeking appropriate action against the dera chief through legal means.

Many are predicting a snap election in India due to the dispute in the centre about the nuclear deal with the US.

The decision by Mann in opposing the KAC and Daljit Singh is playing into the hands of anti-Panthic elements. Now is the time for Panthic elements to unite with ISSUES at the forefront.

Daljit Singh will emerge stronger in Panjab and abroad following the decision by Mann. Mann may find that the tables are turned on him as ordinary people have lost faith in him as any sort of credible leader.

Khalsa Action Committee joins issue with Mann over Bittu's expulsion

Punjab Newsline Network

Monday, 27 August 2007

AMRITSAR: Terming the expulsion of Daljit Singh Bittu from SAD (Amristar) as most unfortunate, the Khalsa Action Committee (KAC) Monday came down heavily on Simranjit Singh Mann for going overboard to criticize and question the working of the KAC- a body formed to contain and curtail the blasphemous acts of the Sirsa cult.

The committee also announced that its members under the leadership of its co-convenor Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu would reach Ambala to witness court proceedings on August 31- the day Gurmit Ram Rahim was slated be produced in the CBI court.

In a hard hitting statement issued here senior members of the KAC, Bhai Mohkam Singh, Karnail Singh Panjoli, Kanwar Pal Singh, Harinder Singh Khalsa and D S Gill categorically stated that the KAC came into existence when other Sikh parties and institutions including Jathedar of the Akal Takht succumbed to the dictates of Punjab government and dropped their campaign against Gurmit Ram Rahim half way.

We took up the cudgels in our hands after, like in the past, the Sikh traditional Akali leadership failed to live up to the expectations of the Sikh masses that were up in arms against the activities of Sirsa dera.

Unfortunately, Mr Mann has joined the KAC bashing club, the leaders said. Falling in the line of jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti and SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar (both Badal's handpicked), Mr Mann too has trained his guns towards the KAC. "If any ammunition is still left in the guns of Mr Mann, he should target it towards Sirsa dera instead of KAC".

Reiterating its resolve to continue with its struggle in order to stem out the practice of Gurudom, challenging the fundamentals of Sikh philosophy and ethos, the statement said by severing of his party's ties with KAC at this critical juncture Mr Mann has made the enemies of the Panth and the Congress 'happy'".

The allegations against us were absurd and uncalled for, said they. Rebutting Mann's allegations, they said we didn't meet Prime Minister. However, meeting PM was not a sin, argued KAC. "If it is a sin, than Mr Mann must explain as how many time he has committed this "sin" in his political career".

Accusing Mr Mann of being unfair and unreasonable to them, they stated that the delegation of KAC met Governor and chief minister of Punjab to seek not only the arrest of Ram Rahim but also his (Mann's) release. Mr Mann was criticizing the KAC out of zealous and not on merit, they said. They pointed out that Mr Mann knows well that meeting with executive heads of the state administration to put across one's viewpoint was a part of the democratic set-up.

Regarding holding parleys with Dera mediators by some KAC members, they said it was being blown out of proportion. It was an open secret that a close relative of the Sirsa dera head approached Mr Paramjit Singh Sarna to resolve the dera crisis, who in turn took SGPC president in confidence before 'arranging' the so-called apology letter. However, the KAC, in its collective wisdom rejected the so-called apology sent by Sirsa Dera and pleaded with Jathedar's to do the same. We failed to understand why Mr Mann was beating about the bush by raking up the closed issue time and again.

While Mann was in jail, Bittu lead the Khalsa Action Committee rising above party lines as a result of which he gained lot of popularity .

Mann's old cadre like Ram Singh,Dhian Singh Mand,Imaan Singh Mann etc could not take this gaining popularity of Bittu and became uneasy .

While Khalsa March's were and are still getting enthusiastic response from the Sikh masses in the villages, the march organised by Imaan Singh Mann,Ram Singh,Mand and others from SAS Nagar(Mohali) to Anandpur Sahib drew a very small crowd as a result of which Mann's son Imaan Singh Mann and others became frustrated a sort of side lined .They feared that KAC was gaining much more popularity than Mann Dal.

Bittu has been repeatedly saying that unity within SAD(Amritsar) and amongst Sikhs in general should be kept at all costs. But Mann's older cadre has been trying to torpedo these unity efforts. They have been boycotting KAC and Bittu on all fronts. They never participated in any gathering organised by Bittu .The unprecedented demonstration organised by Youth Wing of SAD(Amritsar) at Chandigarh was boycotted by Imaan Singh,Mand,Ram Singh and company .

Following is the video of that demonstration :

http://www.sikhsiyasat.com/polctl/youthrally.html

No leader near and dear to Mann was present at Bittu's release from jail. But on the other hand the convener of KAC Mokham Singh was present during release of Mann from jail.Perhaps Mokham Singh tried to show solidarity with Mann and SAD(Amritsar) by doing this but Mann on being released from jail called KAC "gadaars of Sikhs" and that he will have no link with KAC .

During recent Sunam rally Bittu again called for unity amongst SAD(Amritsar) in order to fight effectively against derawaad :

http://www.sikhsiyasat.com/spc/bds_at_sunam220807.html

But Mann taking a hasty decision threw out Bittu and 13 SAD leaders who participated in the Khalsa March at Amritsar on August 25,2007 from the party .

Now Mann says even if Bittu gives some clarification he will still not been allowed to join SAD(Amritsar).I dont think Bittu will bow before Mann's dictatorship .Bittu has already said that he will give a befitting reply to all of Mann's allegations against him at the appropriate time.It is good Bittu has not given a hasty reply similar to the haste decision taken by Mann.

Bittu has further said that KAC marches against derawaad with continue till each and every dera is removed from Punjab .

I personally think that Bittu will gain more from all this.He has so far not said a word against Mann despite being shown the door.On the other hand Mann and his favourites have levelled various allegations and indulged in personal attacks against Bittu .

Bittu will not take all this lying down but this is an unfortunate development for SAD(Amritsar) and the party will be weakened by all these recent developments.

An open discussion should be carried on in this forum on this topic .

Bittu has always had a shady reputation, theres no lie in that. His past and his tactics in the movement arent one of high morale or respect either.

There's always two sides to the story, but i must agree after being in denial for so long that Mann is a lousy politician.

Fateh.

mann appears to be an <banned word filter activated>. all too often he is has made stupid political errors at crucial times.

quote - "The allegations against us were absurd and uncalled for, said they. Rebutting Mann's allegations, they said we didn't meet Prime Minister. However, meeting PM was not a sin, argued KAC. "If it is a sin, than Mr Mann must explain as how many time he has committed this "sin" in his political career".

everyone knows mann met the congress pm in the early 90's. that was why the babbars boycotted the elections and accused mann of selling out.

out with mann and in with bittu. mann is like badal - interested in putting his son first before the panth.

All comments made on this thread are very much agreeable and 100% on the spot.

Simranjeet Singh Mann has without doubt made one of the biggest mistakes in his political career. He has enjoyed good support abroad, more than Panjab. Up until now, Panthic Jathebandhia have not opposed him publicly to maintain maximum unity and Ektha in the current situations, but this has been the last straw. Any sympathy support has been lost. This move by Mann that has shown an alternative agenda will mean a massive decline of support for him.

Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu should have the full backing of the Khalsa Panth, along with the Khalsa Action Committee, in which his Sewa is worthy of recognition.

Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!!
