^ Agreed, but whatever you do you should put all your mehntha into it, you wouldnt start practising for a battle a day before the war, so in the same way you should practise kirtan every day and bring your skill level up.

When you do anything you represent the Guru, if your performing something which took you a day to learn then its not really a good reflection on the Guru is it?

This laziness needs to be removed and dedication needs to be emphasised on various vidiyas.

**I have deleted your first post because it brings negativity into a thread where someone was just asking for help. If you want to discuss the state of Sikhs and their willingness/ability to learn certain arts, please start another thread. Thank You!

Gurbar Akaal - I understand what your saying but there's ways of saying things and doing things.

Sounds like the Singh wants to play kirtan and is asking for help. We should encouraging him not putting him down, I think your post was totally inappropriate.

QUOTE EDITED

To the original Singh - Sorry i can't give you the notes but Maharaj Kirpa Kare, i'm sure it will go fine. You can come tell us the keys once you've done it

I apologize if my point came accross as harsh, I respect that the Singh wishes to learn but it should be done through the proper channels and through proper learning. Please dont take short cuts and skimp on the years of practise it takes to understand the musical structure of Gurbani.

Understanding kirtan, raag, shastarvidiya, gurbani, santhiya etc, allows us to appreciate how great the Gurus were, only the person who takes time to put in the effort to learn can appreciate how skillfull the gurus must have been and how refined they were in their mastery in arts. If we can appreciate it, we can pass on knowledge to others so they can appreciate it too.

I also think the comment was a bit over the top. We have no idea if the original Singh may be a maintee of kirtan but sometimes circumstances dictate that we have to do things in a hurry or somefin'. Maybe it's his chacha's function and he has been asked at short notice to sing this shabad, idunno, but to dis him just because he wants to learn a shabad quickly is a little harsh.

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh

There was no need to be harsh he was just asking a simple question

you should be happy that he wants to learn not putting him down, you should be thankful that there are great gursikhs out there like him who are willing to learn.

To The Topic Starter I'm sorry but Im not good at kirtan I'm too lazy to learn

and Gurbar Akaal whats that in your display pic?
