Thats the thing we've got two channels which show a little bit of Sikh related info but are more based around Punjabi cuture (alpha & channel punjab) but they want your money. Then you got all these muslim channels free of charge running 24/7.

Its all about the money with apne!

Listened to Fiza FM for first time the other day on way back from work(4:30ish), see what is about. Proper desi kam with little kid just reading a random story (non-religious) however had kids competition going asking where prophet Mohommad was buried. They must have had a phone call from another little kid (under 14) every other minute... i was like

We need something... then again, if we did, would we get the audiences/sangat?

A lot of cash is channeled in from the middle east and there is money just sloshing about out there. They throw so much money that they can afford free channels. Those sheiks make so much money available for their parchaar.

We on the other hand do not have any support. Who would support us?

The alpha/punjab are in it for the cash. The sikhi part is normally relegated to the early mornings only. The Indian government are dead against us. We are all fragmented and all want KURSIAA.

What we need is some wealthy american/canadian singhs to back a free channel and/or our jathedhar Vedanti sGSPC , doesn't have to be very elaborate to start with, even if it is some guy sitting in a corner with one camera , but what is important is the content - we need education done in a clear articulate way that is enlightening and enjoyable. We need good clear speaking forcefull gianies , plus of course as much shabad kirtan as one can cram in.

Ok, after a pain staking research in to the cost of a channel on sky it will cost 0.3millon (£300,000), this does not include all the equipment and programming that would be extra.

Now we can get advertising to pay for some of it...as long they pay upfront (which is going to highly unlikely). So if you know anyone with a few hundred thousand lying around and has not secret agenda of their own then may be we can come together and set this all up and make the first free Sikhi channel which give every thigh from sikh kids shows to adult sikh discussions and loads of Kirtan Bhai Harjinder Singh (Sri Nagar Vale) live in concert would be good! :nihungsmile:

There are 3 ways this can happen:

1. A Sugar Daddy (or Mummy) creating a channel out of pure service - hardly likely, so forget that.

2. A group of youngs entrepeneurs or volunteers creating a modern, vibrant, channel that is so apt for the modern audience. Problem here is funding.

3. The final and most realistic way is the powers that be in Amritsar hiring a professional production team, i.e. recruting production professionals of Sikh origin to produce a channel to a professional standard. The problem with this is persuadign them it's worthwhile.

Also, don't forget, lookign to the future, an Internet presence is probably more worthwhile than a satellite channel, so let's not blow this issue out of proportion.
