Im sure Singhnia want to get out their too but sometimes situations are diff. for a man and woman.

LOL..what.. like parrallel parking and shopping???

Truth is the majority of men still wont like their own sisters or wifes or daughters go on any frontline whether amritdhari or not. That's where the problem will always lie

So we shouldn't get involved and just say "to each their own", right?

Thats my view. Let everyone be. Let everyone contribute as best as they can and as best as they want. Constantly putting people on a guilt trip doesnt acheive much, in the end ones "wake up panth" type parchar just becomes one big nag and you'll find people switch off.

Interesting post rimmel, I see where your coming from. Many males are protective over females and this extends to women being seen as property and the honour of a family or community. Men struggle to snap out of this. Whether we agree with this un-pc statement or not, “it’s a man’s world out there”. Men of the community will ultimately end up controlling the decision making, so to pass the blame solely onto bibya is not entirely right.

Spritually we know that there is no discrimination based on sex because Guru Ji’s refers to the human as either a manmukh or a gurmukh. There is no male or female, no jat or chamar, no elite jatha, no black or white, just a manmukh and a gurmukh. But maybe spiritually we may lack the strength to see that, so we differentiate gurmukhs based on their gender and other things. We start blaming our own shortcomings onto these groups we classify people into.

Like they're really family centred whereas I am world centered.

With all due respect to all the brothers and sisters, maybe if we all became Guru Granth Sahib Ji centered then we wouldnt have any issues at all.

We basically said how a lot of singhs chill out, hang out together etc and how it wud be cool if the kuriya did tht.

As a singh who 'chills out' with other singhs, i would advise that you do not copy us. 'Chilling out' is a waste of time (if we look at it with a gurmat prespective), its time wasted, if the singhs got together and became sadh sangat by reading gurbani, discussing gurmat, did bhagti etc, then copy that and repeat it. if its sitting around in someones house, then your better off leaving that alone.

its good that singhs are realising the waste of time 'chilling' actually is.

Tell me about it. I've been chilling out all my life and as you can see it's done me no favours.

But one thing I will advise kaurageous group is dont just focus on the social element, make sure u attempt to capture the real gurmat type activties. As my dear veer AK 47 says above dont bother copying the chilling out singhs, believe me there is a false sense of ekta being built in "chilling out", which u only really realise when there's a big bust up.

I agree with rimmel bhenji. A lot of kuriya are lyk that. But maybe people just dont wanna go cus protests really have a bad name in uk now. lyk that behzti one.. and a few others! Ther seen as violent. And to be honest i thikn if i went to one -singhs would tell me to go home.Truth is singhs are to over protective of singhnia.. lyk we shud be at home cooking and looking after kids... when really haha we arent different at all- hmm i duno in my view a lot of them thikn ther superior. It would probably make a different if 100 singhnia got together and did a protest.. singhs almost just get carried away. im surprised u guys want us ther! Anyway i wud love to go! lol just dont knw when they are....

Other than that they don't do anything without asking their parents and thats really annoying.

That's coz of what parents are lyk. Parents are very protective of their daughters and it's sometimes justified. Also, if a girl goes and does something that her parents have told her not to do,her parents won't trust her anymore and their relationship will be broken up.

What i'm tryin to say is that it aint the girls, it's the parents. But what's stopping the parents from going wiv her - or singhnia going in groups?

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
