Who is a Gurmukh?

A Gurmukh is one who has realised the shabad hence they have realised themselves and have banished corruption of his/her mind. Therefore, a Gurmukh is a high spiritual being; pure and rare who can be considered a saint.

Gurmukh in that line refers to Guru Ji. Therefore, it means those who have not obtained naam from Guru Ji, those self-willed manmukhs waste their lives.

there was an interesting discussion yday in the chat... sum1 was sayin that the 'padd ched' is incorrect there... as it shud'n be:

gurmuiK ijnI nwmu n pwieAw ]

rather it shud be:

gurmuiK ij nI nwmu n pwieAw ]

the latter seems to make more sense... which wud translate to: 'that person who is not gurmukh, has not obtained the naam'

buh.. how do we kno when its 'ijnI' rather then 'ij nI'??

the pad chhed seems correct here

there is a sihari on the khakhaa of gurmukh. Therefore it can mean whoever hasnt received naam through the mukhi guru...or the one that hasn't received naam through the path of becoming a gurmukh.

im not any sort of linguist but making ji and nee seperate doesnt make too much sense to me.

Gurmukh can have different meanings depending on context. In this context it seems that it means through the mukhi guru. After reading your message I double checked with faridkot teeka, and the arth they did are the same

I haven't checked sahib singh's teeka, but I'm pretty sure it'll be the same too.
