Sggs Ji In Libraries

In the UK i think we can get the support of all panthic jathbandian on this. I dont know about canada.

I not sure about large scale but locally:

A letter to the library is important, then a letter to a higher authority (who ever is incharge of the library). Maybe a few letters from organisations.

A few phonecalls explaining the issue politely. Education is important. They dont know what the issue is.

Maybe 1 or 2 people take charge of the issue at the particular library.

If all this dont work then petition maybe?

Eventually 5 Sikhs go and meet the library officials. With a official meeting sometimes it helps as places more emphasis on issue.

Then if aint getting no where involve people from out of area...maybe globally.

Just a few suggestions...may not all work.

Libraries are for books not for the word of akaal purkh, that belongs in a gurdvara

If a library wants maharaj, then clearly state maryada states,

Parkash, Sukhasan, langar, nishan sahib, degh, palki, manji, chaur sahib, granthi singh, 2 times ardaas, ramallas

Someone suggested that we get the Sikh Coalition involved. The place where i saw SGGS was in Alberta, there is a MP who is a SIKH so i am going to contact him also.

The thing is we need to tel goray that they are allowed to come to the gurdwara and eat from the free kitchen (langar)

I was asked by a white lady if i was allowed to go to the sikh temple, She was asking if i was allowed to pray at the same place sikh men did and i said yes. I told her that The golden temple in india has four entrances which symbolizes that it is open for anyone and everyone to come to.

The thing is most people confuse us with hindu and muslim traditions. People naturally think that sikh women tie a turban to hide her hair and no one is allowed to see it, This is another issue of its own.

The thing is we need to do parchar that anyone can come to the gurdwara, and show them how we respect our guru.

The Guru Granth Sahib ji is for everyone not only for sikhs, The library should provide links to the Guru Granth Sahib ji online

If anyone wants to read meanings and do research it's perfect because this avoids dispecting Our Guru

We need to be calm when talking to library officials or whoever has the power to make a change. If they dont make chnages we have to raise our voices, getting educated high-status Sikhs is a good idea to help make this change.

How can a SGGS ji end up in a library? This is the fault of whoever gave it to them. To them, it is just another ordinary book.

One of my great grandfathers was a farmer in Punjab and he didn't have much of education. He would be out working in the fields when he would hear Gurbanee being recited from Gurdwara. That's how he learned, by just listening over and over again with love. If we have that love and longing for Guru Jee, nothing will come in our way.

BAD NEWS

so i talked to the library and they said that they cant do anything and theyve already dealt with this conflic meaning THEY DIDNT DO ANYTHING!

The lady said that the libraries are under the duo decimal system meaning they treat all the books equally in significance, meaning they cant pull one religous text.

I asked the lady if i could do anything like what if i start a petiton and she kinda got scared and said shes not the rite person to talk to and she wanted to hang up on me as soon as possible..i didnt mean to be forceful i just wanted simple ?s answered

Understand that you are dealing with a VERY different situation than so called "gurudwara's" where beadbi is done. Pubjabi's who call themselves sikhs and insult guruji have preconceived notions and are prepared to war for the sake of getting their way. You have to be prepared for that accordingly.

HOWEVER DO NOT approach a public library with zeal!! The approach could result in walls put up.

Does the library have a board? Do they meet monthly to discuss issues? Can you present to them?

There are a combination of idiots amongst punjabi's, paid s* disturbers, and general racism to bring down sikhi who would love to see you in arms against the library so they can use it as a lightening rod to have the nation label sikhs as dogmatic fanatics against freedom of speech and against books. The "poor library" will be the second coming of Salman Rushdie.
