This resulted in the 3 Anglo sikh wars in which sikh territories were anexed. But even during the anglo sikh wars, the remaning sikh army put up fierce resistance against the odds even when they were severely outnumbered in each war. IT was still difficult for british to take power after the first anglo sikh war.

just to let you know, there were only two wars, also I think in one or two battles singhs had more men or they had more artillery.

singhs put up a big fight, dogras screwed them over in the last battle in the 1st war, because the army could not retreat because the river was behind them, they could either be killed by british forces or drown trying to get to the other side of the river, while tej singh fled in his own boat.

Whether u say there were 2 or 3 anglo sikh wars depends on whether u count 1 other battle as 1 of them. I do, so i say there were 3 anglo sikh wars. many people will say 2, and in books most will also mention 2. but some do say 3. there were some smaller battles fought aswell which are not not mentioned often by historians.

The Dogras gave away the Sikh army's key positions and strategy plans to the British.

Why wasn't there a smooth succession after Ranjit Singh ? this needs to be studied further.

In fact there is a IFS diplomat by name of Navtej Sarna who has written a book on Ranjit Singh's son Dalip Singh and how he was conned by the British into believing that he was being groomed for takeover.

Mah. Dalip Singh was only a minor at the time of succesion. The dogras were protectors of the raaj and of Mah. Dalip Singh. They turned both the raaj and Dalip Singh over to the brits in return for the kingship of Kashmir.
