Hindu Chownki

SSA all,

Long story short, I've been asked by one of my close friends (I consider him a brother), to play tabla at his birthday Chownki. Firstly, (probably not the best place to ask this question but..) can someone explain what this is about, I haven't got a clue what goes on or its religeous intent? Secondly, is it "bad" for a Singh to be there? I don't want to let him down but at the same time I don't want to be unknowingly worshiping a hindu deity.

Your help and advice would be much apprieciated.

Damn...Tough position you are in.. If its the part of idol worship then i would suggest u to come up with some kind of good excuse..

lol you will be playing with ppl who r singing mata di bheta I guess they must be having someone in group to play it ....... also they play it with modern intruments(atleast in India) so kind of don't match with tabla/jodi
