India...kirpan....airport?

you can't eat without your kirpan on? since when did that become a rule in Sikhi? I'm asking this genuinely ... I've never heard this in my life.

why can you do everything else without your kirpan on? I mean while on the plane, you'll use the toilet, you'll talk to people, you'll sign documents, you'll read stuff, you'll wak, you'll pick your hand luggage up etc etc ... all without your kirpan on ... what's the difference when it comes to food?

when I took amrit the panj piare told me that if u have ur kirpan off u cant eat anything but u can drink water

so if u dont eat u still have water ji

ardas in a disabled toilet? what kind of advise is this? ardas should be done from your heart not from a toilet or to the side somewhere ... are we not advised to pray whether standing or sitting ... there is no mention about disabled toilets or a quiet corner ... some of this stuff honestly does sound really silly

My brother went to India 3 week ago from Heathrow. You can travel with a Kirpan so long as the blade is 6cm. But if you stop at Delhi and then go to Amritsar, they will not let you travel with the Kirpan.

In india kirpan is allowed in airplanes just make sure its not over 9 inch in total and its not need to be removed before any checks etc ... just show it to the security guy before you pass through the metal detector ... No need to remove it anywhere as long as you are in india ...

I am amazed with some of the advice bring given on this thred re putting a kirpan in your dastar. I urge everyone not to a kirpan - no matter what the size - in your dastar. We are already having huge screening issues and in Italy there are numerous cases of dastars being removed. To date they have not found any item to support their searches. If even one Singh is found with a kirpan in their dastar it will be a disaster for the whole panth.

As no food or drink whilst you are on the plane with your kirpan off, this is not a big deal and something my Singnia and I have been doing for the last 12 years with Guru Sahibs Kirpa. _Guest_ has described very well what you should do. Those who disagree with this advice, that is your prerogative; However those who are attempting to keep the bachan given to them by the Panj Pyare should have full barosi in Guru Sahib and not worry.

the punj have allowed for this. just wear a small one on your necklace, do chaupai and ardass and take off your big one.DO NOT wear it in your dastaar, security will make you open up your dastaar to check.

In India, it was my experience that small kirpans were allowed on domestic flights but not on international. also, it was only allowed on domestic flights when the secured area past the checkpoint in the airport did not also include departing international flights. this was from when I went during 300 sal.
