Sikhism The Oldest Religion !

Recommended Posts

I have heard many people saying that Sikhism came into being in 1469 when Guru Nanak Dev Jee took birth. But I feel we need to do veechar of this tukk :

Satgur mera sada sada, na avai na jaye ||

oh abinaasi purakh hai sab mehi rahiya samaye ||

This clearly states that Satgur is SADAA SADAA (present throughout the 4 juggaas).

In kaliyug, Satguru decided to come to this world via body in order to teach mortals via actions and to give Gurbani to humanity. But Satguru was present before kaliyug as well. It was Satguru who saved the honour of Draupadi via krishna and it was Satguru who saved the bhagats prahalad and dhruu.

a good point, we must try to remember that Sikhi is the refined form of the many ancient Dharmic paths, which as you say have spanned across the ages.

these all hold the value of contemplating Waheguru, Ram, Hari, Govind, and the countless other names of God, and re-immersing your soul with the primal energy

however some people take this fact out of context, and claim that it means that Sikhi is not distinct and is just hinduism

Sikhi is a distinct path, it is the path set out by Sri Guru Granth Sahib, it is the path to cleanse one's self of past sins, and re-immerse your soul with Waheguru

Totally agree with you on that one, you have put it very nicely.

We should remember that the essence of everything is Sat (Truth). This is the origin of all religion. Throughtout the ages, people have slowly lost sight of this.

Sikhi is taking us back to Sat, which is Waheguru.

This is NOT what I meant. The people of previous yuggs did have higher moral and ethics but they were still under the noose of maya. They were more sato-gunni than kaliyugi people but even the sato gunn is an attribute of Maya. The religions they followed were false and were unable to remove the chains of Maya. However, there were some who meditated on one God and performed good actions. These people were very few and they were saved by Satguru. The honour of draupadi was saved by Satguru Nanak. (its mentioned in bhattaan de svaiye in Guru Granth Sahib Jee).

V in Vaheguru is not for Vaheguru. its for Vasudev,

Vasudev, Hari, Ram, Gobind.
