a dastaar tied by a gursikh is a dastaar, 2 meters or 12 the length is irrelevant. and the guy wants to be cop, so he's going to have to wear a helmet in the training. try to understand what im saying, would he be suing a mountain climbing company if they told him he cant work for them coz he is not wearing a helmet?

But there's alot of relevance in terms of being a cop. Obviously as gursikhs there will be limitations towards the jobs they go for, but you got to understand the crap Sikhs had to go through in the past just to be here in the UK, all those sacrifices just to free India and others. Then you say things like 'Oh, its ok to pop a helmat over the dastaar' like the dastaar has no value, which degrades the prioity of the dastaar, what use is the dastaar then?

I see where your coming from, health and safty issues.......but can you see the big picture??....cus all this is, is the minor stuff going on.

You call yourself a babber sher?? do Babber sher's wear helmets over their heads, when getting attacked by by 20-30 odd hyaenas??........serious question!

your following point about 'suing a mountain bike company' is totally irrelvent to the whole situation, describe more of the situation if you want a decent answer jee.

One compromise after another is what these ignorant englishmen want from the rest of the world.

Now we're getting somewhere........ <_<

Daily Mail reader's comments really shows the adverse attitude western society has towards someone's religious beliefs.

Today's society is about "compromise". The majority of todays Sikhs are compromiser, cutting kes, taking kara's off, removing kirpans, replacing dastars with bandanas etc. Only the few are willing to stand their ground and they will be the ground breakers who open doors for others. The "compromisers" only shut doors for other Sikhs.

Gurmeil Singhs employment tribunal is due to last for another 2 weeks and he needs the SUPPORT of the Sikh community.

Please take some time out and attend the hearing at:

Alexandra House

Parsonage

Manchester

M3 2JA

Monday to Fridays

9am-5pm

PLEASE ATTEND AND SPREAD THE WORD!!

"...British people are highly indebted and obliged to Sikhs for a long time. I know that within this century we needed their help twice and they did help us very well. As a result of their timely help, we are today able to live with honour, dignity, and independence. In the war, they fought and died for us, wearing the turbans. At that time we were not adamant that they should wear safety helmets because we knew that they are not going to wear them anyways and we would be deprived of their help. At that time due to our miserable and poor situation, we did not force it on them to wear safety helmets, why should we force it now? Rather, we should now respect their traditions and by granting this legitimate concession, win their applaud."

TO THOSE <banned word filter activated> 'SINGHS' WHO ARE WRITING AGAINST HIM IN THE COMMENTS, FOR GOODNESS SAKE, STOP IT!!!!! Its always the people who are supposedly from our community who let us down, if we go around making bull comments about how he should accomodate, I'm telling you its people like you who have the worst impact on the community. We have absolutely no leg to stand on when so called apne are siding with those against us. In such cases involving outsiders, it is imperative to have total unity, regardless of our own personal disagreements. Its like the gurdwaras who tell schools kids can take off their karas in p.e. lessons, only to screw over any amritdhari or any other sikh trying to follow rehat. UNITY PEOPLE UNITY!!

  • 2 weeks later...

this is an absolute disgrace and just proves we cant have much faith in the police. the police have always been labelled as racist and this is what this is. absolutely disgraceful. appalling.

Jo Gaj Ke Bolave So Nihal Sat Sri Akaal!!!!!!!

:D Singh has won his tribula case against Manchester police. Greater Manchester Police were today found to be discrminatory against Gurmeal SIngh and also guilty of harassing the Singh.

Waheguru di full kirpa!!! :p
