* At last meeting of DJJS, Ashutosh said their is no such thing as Sikhism, that 'Hindu dharma' has many branches and so called Sikhs just a part of the greater 'Hindu Samaj'. It was also mentioned that there are some people claiming that Sikhs are not Hindu and are a separate and independent Nation, they said "these are agents of Pakistan and the West". It is also said that he twisted GurBani tuks to propogate that Sikhs didn't need hair.

* Ashutosh had planned a Shobha Yatra (mockery and copy of Sikh's Nagar Kirtan) IN Ludhiana, in which he was to sit in a Palki and roam around Ludhiana! But Panthic Jathebandis had protested against it, and due to pressure frm all sides, Badal Govt. had refused permission for His Jaloos!

* Still he was adamant to hold a programme to show his power, as he knows that 40% residents of ludhiana today are frm UP and Bihar! It was a direct Challenge to Sikh panth.

* So Sikh organizations from all over Punjab had gathered at Gurudwara Kalgidhar, Ludhiana to protest aganist him. Around Afternoon,Sikhs got the news that Ashutosh had started his Programme, upon this Sikhs led By Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode, Bhai mohkam Singh Damdami taksal, Bhai Harnaam Singh Dhumma and Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale moved towards the venue of his programme to stop it.

* When the Singhs were abt a kilometre away, Punjab police Intercepted Singhs and blocked their way. Singhs wanted to move ahead , so they didnt stop. at this PP started lathi charge on singhs, which angered the peacefully protesting Sikhs. There was a violent showdown between Singhs and police.

* It is said that local BJP Mla Harish Bedi's son Honey Bedi shot the first fire at Sikh protestants. It is said he is trying to get to Australia to escape from trouble.

* On the orders of IG Sanjeev Kalra, Punjab Police opened fire on Sikh Youths.

* 1 Singh, Bhai Darshan Singh was Shaheed. 12 were injured. 1 Singh known as Baba Ji took a bullet intented for Bhai Dhadrianwale is in a critical condition.

* Bhai Darshan Singh was shot at in the chest by DIG Sukhdev Singh.

* A Singh attacked and wounded DIG Sukhdev Singh. Bhai Bittu (driver of Bhai Dhadrianwale) chased DIG Sukhdev with a sword. 2 other police wale were injured by Singhs.

* Rumours that there is a media blackout and 4 or 7 Singhs have been Shaheed by now.

Can we remember a singh has been shaheed and concentrate on the current situation and not who was/wasnt there.

How many police were injured or killed?

Why is it always Singhs being killed? Kirpans and guns must be for more then just show. How many Sikh Gunmen/bodyguards were with the sikh leaders during the protesters? If Sikh gunmen were present and 5/6 singhs have been killed with no enemy in return then those guns need to be taken off them and given to people who have the knackers to use them, when needed.

3 police wale injured. The DSP who shot Shaheed Bhai Darshan Singh got attacked by a Singh with a kirpan.

The DSP was chased by Bhai Bittu with a Kirpaan.

Was that Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu?

Guest PunjabSingh

Yes,unity is the need of the hour.

At the moment let us unite, particularly those in Punjab,to make today's 7 December,2009 (it is beyond 12 am here in Punjab) Punjab bandh total. So that badal get's a clear message from the panth.

It is indeed encouraging to note that yesterday ie 6 December,2009 a number of "badal supporters" burnt effigies of badal and ashutosh all over Punjab. So it seems we are moving towards Panthic unity slowly but surely.

That is an encouraging post and the type of thinking we need in these times, to set aside differences and support all who are true to the Panthic cause.

    • Whatever problems the Afghan Sikhs have or Punjabi Sikhs have, it's much better to support them than the Muslims.
    • So, are you saying Guru ji isn't God? Or are you saying the British encouraged this belief?
    • Part of the problem is the hostilities between India and Pakistan. If the border were open, Amritsar would easily become a huge trading city. Secondly, the National Highways Authority of India is constructing a new 6-lane expressway from Kashmir, through Amritsar/Jalandhar/Ludhiana to Dehli which will be part of the Ludhiana-Delhi-Kolkatta Industrial Corridor.  Maps of the New Silk Road show Kolkata as a key part of the "road". The Punjab to Kolkata expressway and rail connections will fulfill the ability to hook up to the New Silk Road.  In addition, while crossing to Pakistan via AH1 (Asian Highway 1) is difficult, India does connect to AH1 on the other side, towards the East. Finally, Punjab can trade with the world via Mundra port in Gujurat. Rail to Mundra, then sea onwards. Dubai is very close with a free port. If you send products to Iran, there are ground links onward to Europe.
    • Yeah, that's one possibility. Another I initially thought is that it's a Muslim trying to gather info. But then, you might ask, how does he know about Sikh textual sources. Well, you'd be surprised at their resourcefulness. A final possibility is he's a weak Sikh who was asked a question by a non-Sikh and now he's suddenly feverishly wondering where it's "written" that you can't marry a young child. To the latter, I would say, you're looking in the wrong spot. Gurbani isn't a 1428 page rulebook, like Leviticus or the Vedas: ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਾਪ ਬੀਚਾਰਦੇ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ The Simritis and Shastras discriminate between charity and sin, but know not the essence of the Real Thing. Without the Guru, they know not the essence of the Reality, know not the essence of the Reality. Anand Sahib.
    • You're confusing two different things: One is merely adding starch to a turban to get a certain feel to the fabric. The other is tying your turban once and taking it off like a hat. It is this that people have a problem with. What's wrong with it is that Rehit says to tie your turban afresh every time. If you ask, "Where is that written?", it's written in Bhai Nand Lal ji's Rehitnama. @ipledgeblue didn't just make it up. Umm, no, bro. We're not evangelical Christians like President George W Bush of the US claiming to "talk to God" who told him to invade Iraq. "Speaking to him directly" basically ends up being doing whatever you feel like with the excuse that Guru ji told you to do it. If you still want to take your turban off like a hat, feel free to do so, but don't claim that it's Rehit.
