The Choice Is Ours

Imagine:

There is a bank that credits your account each morning with £86,400. That's right, £86,400!!!!

It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.

What would you do? Draw out every pound, of course!!!!

Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME....

Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours.

There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow". You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost!

It's entirely upto you how you want to spend it......you can either waste it in slandering others....OR...... meditating on Vaheguru.....You can waste it on worrying about the past or future....OR.....you can use it to live for today, leaving the rest in the hands of Vaheguru....You can use it to collect Maya to satisfy ego.......OR......you can use it to collect gems of Naam to get ready for the next world, a world in which no one cares about your wealth, position or reputation in society....the choice is yours!!!!

Har Poonjee Sanch Karaho Biohaar,

Gather the Lord's name as your capital, and trade in it,

Eeha Sukh Dargeh Jaikaar,

In this world you shall be at peace, and in the Court of the Lord, you shall be acclaimed

For a minute, I was wondering how you came up with no. 86400. Thats lot of money for a day to spend and yes lot of time to get some benefit from.

But as Guru Amardas jee says over and over, we are vista de keeRe. We leave amrit and eat vista day in day out. seconds in and seconds out.

IF only we could remember with each breath the purpose of life, only then we could have reached somewhere.

Thanks for the great thought and analogy.

Thanks for nice post

You have very rightly forced us to acess how the 24 hrs. to be spent daily.

In rehatnama it is mentioned :-

"Daswandh Guru nehe devaee, jhoothh bol jo khaae,

Kahe Gobind Singh Nand Lal ji tis ka kichhu na bisahe."

(Rehatnama Bhai Nand Laal ji )

Here Daswandh does not mean only Daswandh of your earnings in money maters,

but also Daswandh of your daily time i.e. 8640 seconds daily or roughly 2 and half hrs

daily at least to be spent in Nitnem/Nam jap/listening gurbani or keertan/meditating in

remembrance of our LORD and these 2 and half hrs will make the remaining time safal.

Bhul chuk khima Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh
