Read every Baani from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee Maharaaj, Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Jee Maharaaj and Sri Sarabloh Sahib Jee Maharaaj :D

But do try reading Chandi Dee Vaar and Uggardanti Baani at Amrith Vehla while it's still dark ... If you can't read just listen to the Baani and follow in Gutka Sahib or read transliterations with audio on the net ...

I've got Uggardanti Baani in Gurmukhi and English translations if you want it ...

It depends on what jatha you are from as different ppl do different stuff. Normally I ready my 5 bani and sukhmani sahib (if you want) around 2am or 3am as amritvela is from 2am-10am. Then I spend the rest of my time doing simran and then at around sunset do rehras sahib. Then kirtan sohila and rakhea da shaabad before you sleep.

I used to read other additional banis but I realised my simran was getting too reduced. As it's only through simran you can get gian make sure you spend most of your time doing simran. But do the banis above as they are compulsory. I used to be one of those singhs who just read bani again and again but I never realised I wasn't following it like it tells you do jap nam 24/7 and my nam simran was not much so had to be changed. This is my experience.

*Make sure you do BIBEK as well as it's very important as it is needed to obtain gian*

During SriGuru ArjanDev Ji Maharajh's {5th Patshahi} time some Sikhs made a benti {humble request} to Guru Ji, "we find it difficult to engage in suaas suaas simran since we are not yet accustomed to it". Guru Ji instructed them to read/listen to SriSukhmani Sahib, especially at amrit vela if possible. Ever since then all the Patshahi, all the Sikhs , all Jathebandi's , all taksals , even those who have reached suaas suaas simran still recite SriSukhmani Sahib along with their other Nitnem.

singhs used to read dakani orangkar, assa di vaar, sukhmani sahib bak in the day at guru arjun dev jis time along with the 1st gurus bania... i think that raamkali ki vaar (or a vaar in raamkali raag, cant remember) was also done...

i guess that sidh gost was red in th eve... (purely becuse it has the word raharas in it at the start of this bani.. just like the current raharaas has..)

from the standard 5 bania, one can increase it to the next standard, 9 bania. the order is in most gutkas... shabad hajare M:5/M:1 and P:10. etc... singhs also used to read the entire akaal ustat...

there is also another 5 bania that SOME OF the nihangs do INSTEAD OF the khalsa 5 bania.. id recomend doing this 5 (all from dasam granth) along with the khalsa 5 bania..

nihangs also read the first 5 pauria of jaap sahib, then the 'guru gayatri' which is the gobinde mukande pauri, then the final chand of jaap sahib, they read this after sohila..

after the 9 bania (which include the standard khalsa 5 bania) singhs used to read the baharahamaahaa paat... the standard baharahamaahaa is by M:5 but M:1 and bhagat kabeer (i think!!) also wrote baharahamaahaaz. P:10 also wrote 2 baharahamaahaaz..

all these plus the 22 vaar of sggs used to be part of the everyday banias....

this plus your minimum dswandh of ur naam simran to guruji-and-god should take u 26hours a day. :) in other words, there is no shortage of banias u can do...i duno how long it takes , the 26 hours was jus a meterphor :) .

there are other bania that ppl aint heard of. From nihangs to naamdharis, along with the rest of the khalsa pplz, do these bania... so these are here as well...

plenty to do....

naam and our rehet (including bania) is the only thing that will go with us.... {from bani comes our rehet, bani came from naam, and naam came from god... for me, i take naam to be pavan from god, and pavan to be guru (as well as shabad guru, which are all the same anyway because they are all the same sargun-nirgun guru) which, guru is god anyway so its all the same!! :) :) it dont matter if u dont get wot i jus typed...its hard 4 me to understand 2..}

Bani is our theory and our practical is naam.

NAAM IS EVEN BIGGER THAN WAHEGURU

what I have noticed is bani creates the thirst to do more simran. Since I am a manmukh and my mind sometime gets tired of simran I revert back to bani or mool mantar to create the thirst to do simran.

But make sure you do the 7 jaroori bani everyday that I have listed in my previous post. Also minimum simran is 2.5 hrs but that is minimum if you want to get mukhti, be free from the pain of birth and death and

realise waheguru simran needs to be eventually 24/7. Essentially 2.5 hrs isn't enough.

A brahmgiani said if you don't become jeevan mukht whilst alive you will definitly not get mukhti once your dead. And I used to think that guru ji will give me mukhti when I die if I followed rehit and did simran and bani.....

first god created himself and naam

through doing waheguru jap, it turns into jaap, which then is naam simran

naam and god are one, as well as naam comming from god too...

Recitation of Pentees AKhree and Lavaa is also Incl. in Daily Banis apart from 5 Daily Banis.

1. Puratan sikhs and Nihang SInghs use to recite Full Chaupaee Sahib(Damdami Taksal Gutka) to get Shakti and Bhakti. Chaupee Sahib Paath is a Bentee to Akal to Destroy Enemies and Give Singhs Shakti.

It consists of All Gurmukhi Akshars and followed by Gurmukhi wise Compositions ending with 'Mehl Dasve Naal Durga Mantar Raleye Leekhya...Ong,Siriang,Hiriang,Liriang,Sundri Balehe Namah'. He Paath Protects the SIkh from Jantar,Mantar,Tantar as it consists of complete Gurmukhi Akhrs.

Paintees Akhree is NOT Sri Guruji Maharaj's baani. Its not mentioned anywhere in Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji or any other panth recognised literary source for that matter. It is a very weak 'baani' anyway; the composition is nowhere close to Guruji's own voice. There are many other similar baanis floating about that are claimed to have been given to us by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji etc, like Bihangham Granth, Pooranmaashi, and so on, but Sikhs only recognise the Sri Sri Sri Shabad Guru Guru Granth Sahib Jeo Maharaj, Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji, Bhai Gurdas Ji and Bhai Nand Lal Ji's works as laid down by Sri Akaal Takht Sahib Ji.

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
