Shaheedi Of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

Often the term 'hind di chadhur' is used.

Our Guru gave his head and life to save the hindus.

The kashmiri pandits came to him when they were under threat from moghuls because they wanted to ask him 'who could represent them and try save their sacred hindu tikka and thread''.

Remember, it was the very young Gobind Rai that said '' Don't be confused trying to think who to appoint, who is better to represent them than you my father ?''

Self volunteering to sacrifice your life not to save your family or your own, but to save the hindus that were under unjust threat and oppression.

Dohra

Having smashed the potsherd of his life (physical body) on the head of Aurangzeb, the Emperor of Delhi, Guru Tegh Bahadur proceeded to the abode of the True Lord (passed away).

None else could perform such a remarkable feat as Guru Tegh Bahadur did.(15)

The world was drowned in the ocean of sorrow when Guru Tegh Bahadur departed

The whole world raised an uproar of lamentation whereas the gods in heaven greeted him with shouts of victory.(16)(215)

End of the Fifth Canto of Bachittar Natak entitled 'Description of the Spiritual Kings.' It is complete. Be it auspicious (canto 5). Aggregate of Stanzas=215.

- Sri Dasam Granth Sahib, Bachittar Natak , Ang 127

I listened to an awesome katha about Guru Ji's shaheedi on the radio yesterday morning. The giani ji was basically using quotes and verse from kavis of various backgrounds, i.e. Hindus and Muslims (poets) of the time who wrote about Guru Ji's shaheedi and the events leading up to them leaving for Delhi. It was like an actual historical account of what happened, with various sources being used to illustrate the events of the time.
