Muslims qustioning us them we questioning them

Recommended Posts

A muslims came too me and said to me 'Your religion is meant to believe in equality and you lot have Gurdwhara named after caste like Ramgharia and i end up saying to the muslim that your religion is meant to believe in equality as well so why do women have to cover themself head to to, and men dont, that is'nt equality. Also, if a man commits suicide he gets 72 virgens in Heaven and if a women commits suicide she dont get nothing that is not equality. Also muslims said to me that 'You arent allowed to drink alcohol and i said neither are you and your religion says if you go to heaven their will be rivers and rivers of alcohol for you to drink.

I tell you straight the Quran was not written by God. The things the quran say are evil and god can't be evil

Our religion is not against drinking, there is nothing against sikhi that lists alcohol as "evil." Its only intrepreted as such, by stating intoxicants are bad.

just like an excessive amount of coffee is bad. (Note, i am not endorsing drinking alochol lol)

Whereas in its listed in the Quran what is right and wrong.

I agree with you though, Quran is not the nicest scripture in the world.

Muslims dont believe in education of other faiths or philosophy. If you dont believe in the word of Allah, you are an "infidel".

r>

You ever notice how the strongest and staunch muslims are the ones that are poor living in Middle Eastern dictatorships where all they can read is the Quran?

And you ever notice how the strongest Sikhs are in first wold countries where we read other philosophies and religions?

Reading other philosophies and religions only makes the sggs seem more beautiful.

you notice how most of the normal muslims are the ones living in the west who actually have gained alot of education and doubt their belief, while the sikhs who doubt their belief and give up on sikhi are the ones in Punjab, where they dont learn all that much.

But I would refrain from stating that "God cant be evil." You really have no evidence or proof possible to make this assertion, but I agree with what your trying to say.

Just something to notice though, that the muslims only believe in reading the Quran for all that is worthy and every other book is evil. I think they might be scared that theres actually other interesting philosophies out there worthy of recognition.

"Our religion is not against drinking"

since when? Guru Ji says: "Jit Peetay Khasam Veesray Dargeh Milay Sajai". One who drinks loses his mind and forgets the true lord. One who forgets God is an evil person. Guru Ji don't even wanna see that person's face. "Jo Na Bhjantay Narayna Tin Ka Mein Na Karoon Darsna".

Sat Sri Akal:

"Our religion is not against drinking..."

Please read the Rehat Maryada.

the rehat maryada of the SGPC?

funny joke.

and for the other guy :

"Our religion is not against drinking"

since when? Guru Ji says: "Jit Peetay Khasam Veesray Dargeh Milay Sajai". One who drinks loses his mind and forgets the true lord. One who forgets God is an evil person. Guru Ji don't even wanna see that person's face. "Jo Na Bhjantay Narayna Tin Ka Mein Na Karoon Darsna".

One who drinks loses his mind?....yes, agreed. "Drinks" almost always means "beer" right? or isnt that just in todays society?

One who "drinks" loses his mind.....you drink alot of coffee and you will have the same effect as alcohol.

And as for the next line, yes, Guruji doesnt want to see the face of an intoxicated being.

Intoxication can be caused by so many things, numerous, there was never the need to explicitly list out alcohol and all the others. Anything in excess is bad, simple as that.

You guys never question do you?

5 gallons of caffiene will f u up more then a half bottle of alcohol any day.

You can get intoxicated from prescription drugs....you really think Guru ji wanted to make a list of all the things not to do?

Keep everything in moderation and do

nt lose your mind-state, and you'll be fine.

You answered your question yourself!

How many sane people drink 5 gallons of coffee to get high ?

So a little peg-sheg is safe huh ? :T:
Keep everything in moderation and dont lose your mind-state, and you'll be fine.
Right, so I can keep my beard in moderation and have it regularly trimmed ?

Babar offered wine to Guru Nanak, and Gurujee said He was already intoxicated in God's Name. I don't even have to say that none of the Gurus/Shaheeds/Great GurSikhs drank any intoxicant, so what justifies alcohol ?

Not happy yet? ok...

Is drinking permitted in Sikhism?

The Sikh Gurus banned the use of intoxicants including alcohol on account of its harmful effects. It is physically harmful and mentally disturbing. Man, under the influence of drink, loses the power to reason and normal action. Guru Amardas wrote in the Guru Granth Sahib(p. 554) against the use of wine by the Sikhs:

"One man offers wine and another pours it himself;

It makes him crazy and senseless and devoid of all reason.

Then one cannot distinguish between one's own and another's and is cursed by God.

Drinking it, one forsakes one's Master and is punished at the Lord's Court.

Yes, drink not this vicious wine, under any circumstances."

At another place the Guru wrote that the wages of drinking are sin and vice(p.553):

"The body is the pitcher, selfhood the wine;

And society is of craving and outgoing of the mind.

Yes, Desire is drinking bowl brimming over with falsehood;<

br>And Yama is the bar-man.

Drinking such a wine, who can earn anything but vice and sin?"

Guru Gobind Singh in his Rahatnama addressed to Bhai Chaupa Singh banned the use of any intoxicating drink. A Sikh of the Guru should never drink wine. (Guru Ka Sikh Sharab Kadi Na Peevay).

Apart from religious injunction, scientists have proved that the frequent use of alcohol makes people addicts and they become aggressive and unruly. the custom of offering drinks to friends and guests is socially dangerous. And when taken in excess can have terrible effects on one's general health.

Drinking damages the liver, the heart and the brain. In the United States of Americal "alcoholism" is regarded as a disease to be controlled by society and government.

In Persian language, wine is called Sharaab which literally means 'the water of mischief.'

Let all Sikhs clearly understand that drinking is under no circumstances permitted in Sikh religion. The clear command in Sri Guru Granth Sahib and Rahet Maryada bans the use of any intoxicants by any Sikh.

Kabir says in Adi Granth:

"Whoever uses bhang, fish and wine;

Whatever pilgrimages, fasting and daily rites they may perform,

They all go to hell." (p. 1377)

Hope that enlightens

the rehat maryada of the SGPC?

funny joke.

natsilahk to you it might be a joke. To us its not. We call the AKAL TAKHAT'S rehit maryada not SGPC.

Next time don't go around and saying that REHIT MARYADA is a joke. You might get beat up for it.

I guess you probably have your own 'personal' rehit marayada where "PEG-SHEG" is ok as long as you can drive home safely.. I guess same goes for the rest of the drugs like "BHANG" as long as you don't loose your control of your mind everything is fine in 'your Rehit marayada'.

Ok lets put the Akal Takhat Rehit Marayada on the side for a min and just look at the quotes my fellow sikhsangat members posted.. You are only able to misinterpret those gurbani tuks regarding alchohol with your limited knowledge.

Its nothing new.. some people like you have been misinterpreting gurbani for their own selfishness. You sound like nothing but another Kalaafghana. People like him try to make sikhi a little flexible for everyone but never succeed. Sikhi can't be bent or modified for your personal interests.

Not everyone can walk THE EDGE OF A SWORD. thats wat sikhi is!
