ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਭਰਮਾਈ ॥ ਹਮ ਦੀਨ ਤੁਮ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਦਾਤੇ ਸਬਦੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧॥

Soraṯẖ mėhlā 3. Bin saṯgur seve bahuṯā ḏukẖ lāgā jug cẖāre bẖarmā▫ī. Ham ḏīn ṯum jug jug ḏāṯe sabḏe ḏėh bujẖā▫ī. ||1||

Sorat'h, Third Mehl: Without serving the True Guru, he suffers in terrible pain, and throughout the four ages, he wanders aimlessly. I am poor and meek, and throughout the ages, You are the Great Giver - please, grant me the understanding of the Shabad. ||1||

ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ = ਚਹੁੰਆਂ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ। ਭਰਮਾਈ = ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦੀਨ = ਕੰਗਾਲ, ਮੰਗਤੇ। ਸਬਦੇ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਦੇਹਿ = ਦੇਂਹਿ, ਤੂੰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਬੁਝਾਈ = ਸਮਝ।੧। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁੱਖ ਚੰਬੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ (ਜੀਵ, ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਦੇ) ਮੰਗਤੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ (ਸਾਨੂੰ) ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼।੧।

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਆਧਾਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Har jī▫o kirpā karahu ṯum pi▫āre. Saṯgur ḏāṯā mel milāvhu har nām ḏevhu āḏẖāre. Rahā▫o.

O Dear Beloved Lord, please show mercy to me. Unite me in the Union of the True Guru, the Great Giver, and give me the support of the Lord's Name. ||Pause||

ਆਧਾਰੇ = ਆਸਰਾ।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾ, ਅਤੇ (ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ) ਸਹਾਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੇਹ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੨॥

Mansā mār ḏubiḏẖā sahj samāṇī pā▫i▫ā nām apārā. Har ras cẖākẖ man nirmal ho▫ā kilbikẖ kātaṇhārā. ||2||

Conquering my desires and duality, I have merged in celestial peace, and I have found the Naam, the Name of the Infinite Lord. I have tasted the sublime essence of the Lord, and my soul has become immaculately pure; the Lord is the Destroyer of sins. ||2||

ਮਨਸਾ = {मनीषा} ਵਾਸਨਾ। ਮਾਰਿ = ਮਾਰ ਕੇ। ਦੁਬਿਧਾ = ਦੁ-ਕਿਸਮਾ-ਪਨ, ਡਾਂਵਾਂ-ਡੋਲ ਹਾਲਤ। ਸਹਜਿ = ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ। ਕਿਲਬਿਖ = ਪਾਪ।੨। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਵਾਸਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਸਕ ਡਾਂਵਾਂ-ਡੋਲ ਹਾਲਤ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਹੈ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਚੱਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।

ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰਹੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੀਵਹੁ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਸਬਦੇ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥

Sabaḏ marahu fir jīvhu saḏ hī ṯā fir maraṇ na ho▫ī. Amriṯ nām saḏā man mīṯẖā sabḏe pāvai ko▫ī. ||3||

Dying in the Word of the Shabad, you shall live forever, and you shall never die again. The Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam is ever-sweet to the mind; but how few are those who obtain the Shabad. ||3||

ਸਬਦਿ = ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਮਰਹੁ = (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅਛੋਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੋ। ਜੀਵਹੁ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਵੋਗੇ। ਸਦ ਹੀ = ਸਦਾ ਹੀ। ਮਰਣੁ = ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜਲ। ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ।੩। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅਛੋਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੋ, ਫਿਰ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਊਂਦੇ ਰਹੋਗੇ, ਫਿਰ ਕਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕੇਗੀ। ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।

ਦਾਤੈ ਦਾਤਿ ਰਖੀ ਹਥਿ ਅਪਣੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਈ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਜਾਪਹਿ ਸੇਈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥

Ḏāṯai ḏāṯ rakẖī hath apṇai jis bẖāvai ṯis ḏe▫ī. Nānak nām raṯe sukẖ pā▫i▫ā ḏargėh jāpėh se▫ī. ||4||11||

The Great Giver keeps His Gifts in His Hand; He gives them to those with whom He is pleased. O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, they find peace, and in the Court of the Lord, they are exalted. ||4||11||

ਦਾਤੈ = ਦਾਤੇ ਨੇ। ਹਥਿ = ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ। ਦੇਈ = ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਾਪਹਿ = ਆਦਰ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।੪। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦਾਤਾਰ ਨੇ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਇਹ) ਦਾਤਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਇਥੇ) ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੪।੧੧।

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਮੈ ਹਭ ਵਞਾਈ ਛੋੜਿਆ ਹਭੁ ਕਿਝੁ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥ ਹਭੇ ਸਾਕ ਕੂੜਾਵੇ ਡਿਠੇ ਤਉ ਪਲੈ ਤੈਡੈ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੧॥

Salok mėhlā 5. Usṯaṯ ninḏā Nānak jī mai habẖ vañā▫ī cẖẖoṛi▫ā habẖ kijẖ ṯi▫āgī. Habẖe sāk kūṛāve diṯẖe ṯa▫o palai ṯaidai lāgī. ||1||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl: I have totally discarded praise and slander, O Nanak; I have forsaken and abandoned everything. I have seen that all relationships are false, and so I have grasped hold of the hem of Your robe, Lord. ||1||

ਉਸਤਤਿ = ਵਡਿਆਈ। ਹਭੁ = ਸਭ ਕੁਝ। ਵਞਾਈ = ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਕੂੜਾਵੇ = ਝੂਠੇ। ਤੈਡੈ ਪਲੈ = ਤੇਰੇ ਲੜ। ਤਉ = ਇਸ ਲਈ।੧। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਜੀ! ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਦਾ ਆਖਣਾ-ਇਹ ਮੈਂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ; ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਕ ਝੂਠੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਕੋਈ ਤੋੜ ਨਿਭਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ), ਇਸ ਲਈ (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਲੜ ਆ ਲੱਗੀ ਹਾਂ।੧।

ਮਃ ੫ ॥ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਉ ਹਉ ਫਾਵੀ ਥੀਈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦਿਸਾਵਰ ਪੰਧਾ ॥ ਤਾ ਹਉ ਸੁਖਿ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਸੁਤੀ ਜਾ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਮੈ ਲਧਾ ॥੨॥

Mėhlā 5. Firḏī firḏī Nānak jī▫o ha▫o fāvī thī▫ī bahuṯ ḏisā// panḏẖā. Ŧā ha▫o sukẖ sukẖālī suṯī jā gur mil sajaṇ mai laḏẖā. ||2||

Fifth Mehl: I wandered and wandered and went crazy, O Nanak, in countless foreign lands and pathways. But then, I slept in peace and comfort, when I met the Guru, and found my Friend. ||2||

ਹਉ = ਮੈਂ। ਫਾਵੀ = ਡਉਰੀ-ਭਉਰੀ, ਵਿਆਕਲ। ਥੀਈ = ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਦਿਸਾਵਰ = {ਦੇਸ-ਅਵਰ} ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਸ। ਦਿਸਾਵਰ ਪੰਧਾ = ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਂਡੇ। ਸੁਖਿ = ਸੁਖ ਨਾਲ। ਤਾ = ਤਦੋਂ। ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ। ਜਾ = ਜਦੋਂ। ਸੁਖਾਲੀ = ਸੌਖੀ।੨। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ! ਮੈਂ ਭਟਕਦੀ ਭਟਕਦੀ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਂਡੇ ਝਾਗਦੀ ਝਾਗਦੀ ਪਾਗਲ ਜਿਹੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਸਾਂ, ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲੱਭ ਪਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਬੜੇ ਸੁਖ ਨਾਲ ਸੌਂ ਗਈ (ਭਾਵ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ)।੨।

ਆਸਾ ॥ ਸੁਤੁ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਕਰਤ ਹੈ ਜੇਤੇ ॥ ਜਨਨੀ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਰਾਖਸਿ ਤੇਤੇ ॥੧॥

Āsā. Suṯ aprāḏẖ karaṯ hai jeṯe. Jannī cẖīṯ na rākẖas ṯeṯe. ||1||

Aasaa: As many mistakes as the son commits, his mother does not hold them against him in her mind. ||1||

ਸੁਤੁ = ਪੁੱਤਰ। ਅਪਰਾਧ = ਭੁੱਲਾਂ, ਗ਼ਲਤੀਆਂ। ਜੇਤੇ = ਜਿਤਨੇ ਭੀ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨੇ ਹੀ। ਜਨਨੀ = ਮਾਂ। ਚੀਤਿ = ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ। ਤੇਤੇ = ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ।੧। ਪੁੱਤਰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਗ਼ਲਤੀਆਂ ਕਰੇ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੧।

ਰਾਮਈਆ ਹਉ ਬਾਰਿਕੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥ ਕਾਹੇ ਨ ਖੰਡਸਿ ਅਵਗਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Rām▫ī▫ā ha▫o bārik ṯerā. Kāhe na kẖandas avgan merā. ||1|| rahā▫o.

O Lord, I am Your child. Why not destroy my sins? ||1||Pause||

ਰਾਮਈਆ = ਹੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਰਾਮ! ਹਉ = ਮੈਂ। ਬਾਰਿਕੁ = ਬਾਲਕ, ਅੰਞਾਣ ਬੱਚਾ। ਨ ਖੰਡਸਿ = ਤੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਸੁਹਣੇ ਰਾਮ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਞਾਣ ਬੱਚਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ?।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਜੇ ਅਤਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਪ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਧਾਇਆ ॥ ਤਾ ਭੀ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਰਾਖਸਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥

Je aṯ karop kare kar ḏẖā▫i▫ā. Ŧā bẖī cẖīṯ na rākẖas mā▫i▫ā. ||2||

If the son, in anger, runs away, even then, his mother does not hold it against him in her mind. ||2||

ਅਤਿ = ਬਹੁਤ। ਕ੍ਰੋਪ = ਕ੍ਰੋਧ, ਗੁੱਸਾ। ਕਰੇ ਕਰਿ = ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕਰ ਕੇ। ਧਾਇਆ = ਦੌੜੇ। ਮਾਇਆ = ਮਾਂ।੨। ਜੇ (ਮੂਰਖ ਬੱਚਾ) ਬੜਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਭੀ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਮਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੂਰਖ-ਪੁਣੇ) ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦੀ।੨।

ਚਿੰਤ ਭਵਨਿ ਮਨੁ ਪਰਿਓ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਪਾਰਾ ॥੩॥

Cẖinṯ bẖavan man pari▫o hamārā. Nām binā kaise uṯras pārā. ||3||

My mind has fallen into the whirlpool of anxiety. Without the Naam, how can I cross over to the other side? ||3||

ਚਿੰਤ ਭਵਨਿ = ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਵਿਚ, ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੀ ਘੁੰਮਣ-ਘੇਰੀ ਵਿਚ।੩। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ! ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ (ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ) ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘੇ?।੩।

ਦੇਹਿ ਬਿਮਲ ਮਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਗੁਨ ਰਵੈ ਕਬੀਰਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨॥

Ḏėh bimal maṯ saḏā sarīrā. Sahj sahj gun ravai kabīrā. ||4||3||12||

Please, bless my body with pure and lasting understanding, Lord; in peace and poise, Kabeer chants the Praises of the Lord. ||4||3||12||

Soraṯẖ mėhlā 5. Janam janam ke ḏūkẖ nivārai sūkā man saḏẖārai. Ḏarsan bẖetaṯ hoṯ nihālā har kā nām bīcẖārai. ||1||

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl: He dispels the pains of countless incarnations, and lends support to the dry and shriveled mind. Beholding the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, one is enraptured, contemplating the Name of the Lord. ||1||

ਨਿਵਾਰੈ = ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੂਕਾ = ਸੁੱਕਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਹਰਿਆਵਲ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ। ਸਾਧਾਰੈ = ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭੇਟਤ = ਮਿਲਦਿਆਂ, ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ। ਨਿਹਾਲਾ = ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ-ਚਿੱਤ। ਬੀਚਾਰੈ = ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ, ਸੋਚ = ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵੈਦ-ਗੁਰੂ (ਸਰਣ-ਪਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਹਰਿਆਵਲ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਨਾਮ-ਦਾਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਖਿੜ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੋਚ-ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਮੇਰਾ ਬੈਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਕਾਟੈ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫੰਧਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Merā baiḏ gurū govinḏā. Har har nām a▫ukẖaḏẖ mukẖ ḏevai kātai jam kī fanḏẖā. ||1|| rahā▫o.

My physician is the Guru, the Lord of the Universe. He places the medicine of the Naam into my mouth, and cuts away the noose of Death. ||1||Pause||

ਬੈਦੁ = ਹਕੀਮ। ਅਉਖਧੁ = ਦਵਾਈ। ਮੁਖਿ = ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ। ਫੰਧਾ = ਫਾਹੀ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ (ਪੂਰਾ) ਹਕੀਮ ਹੈ। (ਇਹ ਹਕੀਮ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਵਾਈ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਜਮ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਸਮਰਥ ਪੁਰਖ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰਾ ॥ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਉਬਾਰਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੨॥੬॥੩੪॥

Samrath purakẖ pūran biḏẖāṯe āpe karnaihārā. Apunā ḏās har āp ubāri▫ā Nānak nām aḏẖārā. ||2||6||34||

He is the all-powerful, Perfect Lord, the Architect of Destiny; He Himself is the Doer of deeds. The Lord Himself saves His slave; Nanak takes the Support of the Naam. ||2||6||34||
