Japji Sahib is written from the rasna of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj and this bani can be found in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. Jaap Sahib is written from the rasna of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and can be found in Sri Dasam Granth.

Also the language structure of Jaap Sahib is very terse/compact compared to Jap Ji Sahib and focuses on some of the attributes of a Waheguru, a lot of which is through negatives adjectives (i.e. that which does not reflect God).

Jap Ji Sahib appears to be a wider canvas which, in addition to providing a Sikh conceptualisation of God, also goes into details about various aspects of creation. It's hard to define Jap Ji Sahib because it is so broad. It's like the complete Sikh world view.

Another point is that the language in Jaap Sahib seems to have been specifically chosen to encompass both Islamic, Hindu and Sikh terminology for the divine.

It's well worth reading Professor Sahib Singh's thoughts on Jaap Sahib:
