To me only a coward would avoid the question before trying to answer it...someone who doesn't have the answer....and I'm not trying to offend anyone, but that is the way it is coming off to me, like you are trying to dodge the question rather than explain to me in a loving, convincing way that what I have been taught may be wrong and then let me make my choice.

Why don't you read the rules of the forum, before calling us cowards. Then you wonder why people attack you.

We don't discuss meat eating on this forum, because it is a controversial topic.

Some Sikhs eat meat, and some don't. According to Rehat Maryada (official code of conduct) Sikhs are only allowed to eat Jathka meat. That is, meat that has not been ritualistically prepared (halaal, kosher), and where the animal has been killed in a painless manner.

There are passages that can be interpreted to mean we can eat meat, and others that can be interpreted to mean that we should be vegetarian.

In the end, what you eat doesn't matter, because everything comes from the same source (God).

There are ways to prepare meat, that involve cutting the animal's throat and then allowing it to bleed to death. The claim is that the animal doesn't feel pain.

Kabir ji is asking, if it is so painless, then would you enjoy having it done to you?

How did people in those times know that it was painless, if they had never done it to themselves? It results in death, so how can the dead tell you if it hurts?

Thus, Kabir ji is challenging a belief steeped in falsehood.
