Today's Sikh Youth- Can We Save Them? I Failed

Recommended Posts

Today's generation of sikh don't bother to keep hair....

If a person is firm believer of God then its still easy to make him/her understand the importance of Hair

But

If a person is non believer of God...then can u still make him/her understand the importance of Hair....

How can u make people to believe in God....

I m shocked to see that bcoz of the advancement of Science...people r doubting the existing God....

My cousin bro feels that hair is extra burden....y we should keep it...

I tried to make him understand with all the stuff...but he said I don't believe in God....

I fear that he will soon have haircut....n we cant pressurize him...he said he won't mind if he is beaten or make him to leave home...he is 21 years old..... N I m helpless I failed when he asked me to prove God...., :(

How can you convince anyone when you yourself are so confused about basics of Sikhi.

For you,," keeping kesh is not compulsory......

I don't cut my hair coz I m follower of Guru Gobind Singh g.....I value his sacrifice that he made for uS..

But yes I will say its not compulsory...there is one thread recently posted where a 16 year old child questions the contradictions of sikhism.....

Its very difficult to satisfy human with contradiction....I have one cousin bro who does not believe in keeping hair n when I said that u being sikh u should keep kesh he said I m follower of GURU NANAK DEV G....N HE NEVER SAID TO KEEP KESH.....all saints have long hair n I not a saint..

Keeping hair just because guruji said so, is not a good enough reason- especially if you don't understand the significance.

When someone asks you ''why do you keep hair ??' and you reply '' because we are told to""

then this just gives a totally wrong impression about what sikhi and hair really is.

It is much more than a kakka, infact it is the primary kakkar.

Because a Mona with just a karra is not wearing a kakkhar equivalent to keeping and maintaining kesh.

All other kakkars are objects of dress and bana, they are not as permanent or of self earning like kesh.

You are a not a 16 year old child or are you?

Calling oneself a Sikh and then saying kesh is not compulsory can

only come from the mindset of an immature child.

I being Sikh does not mean that I will probably force someone to follow Sikhi....

Thaapeyaa na jaayee, kita na howe

Aape aap niranjan soye....

Untill n unless a person himself will not understand worth of kesh...he will never keep it...

Yes Dad don't want his sikhs to follow his hukum by force....

When khalsa roop was established at that time he called for 5 pyaare not by force but he checked for their will n loyality.....

He would probably luv those Sikh who follow his command with luv rather then those who think knot to be extra burden on head....

No one is asking you to force anyone to follow Sikhi.

What is being asked is you to follow the basics of Sikhi.

A Sikh who has even an iota of understanding of basics of Sikhi

will never ever say "kesh is not compulsory."

So do yourself a favour and learn the Basics of Sikhi

before you try to convince anyone else about Sikhi.

Check your own faith in Dad and see what you write,"He would probably luv those Sikh who follow his command with luv.

You are not even certain in your own beliefs.

Babaji bless me with powers to control anger.......

I m not here to prove my faith nor I need to entertain anyone...

I accept that I need improvements but I will surely feel bad if my bro will have hair cut.....

Babaji bless you with more faith in Him.

Please entertain no one except thoughts about greatness of Sikhi.

Thanks for accepting you need improvements and you will surely improve.

Tell your bro that he wiil be a shameless, selfish, beshaaram sirgum if he cuts his hair.

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
