Jaap Sahib – Sava Lakh (125,000) by June 2014

1984-30 YEARS-2014

June 1984 saw the tyrannical armies of India launch a full scale military attack on Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar and the Sikh Panth.

This was one of the first of a series of brutal and calculated attacks on the Sikh community designed to ridicule and break the backbone of our faith.

In the following 29 years we have seen hundreds and thousands of people lose their lives in what is nothing short of genocide.

The year 2014 will mark 30 years since this cold-blooded assault and attack on the heart of our panth.

We will NEVER FORGET 1984, in fact we will remember what happened each and every day.

We will forever praise the Great Warriors and Defenders of our Faith who fought till the last breath for the Chardi Kala of the Sikh Panth.

WHATS THE PLAN?

The Plan is to unite as a Panth in the Charan of Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaaj under One Nishan Sahib and do ardas for the Chardi Kala of the Khalsa and begin the Savah Lakh Jaap Sahib Gurbani Jaap. Through the Bani of the True Guru we can unite and remember the great Martyrs/Shaheeds of the Kaum

This is our chance to unite across the globe, pray together and demonstrate our unity through the love of Gurbani and our Mahaan Shaheed Warriors.

The aim is to have done 125,000 Jaap Sahib de Paath by June 2014.

We cannot do this alone, we need our Panthic Brothers and Sisters, Mothers and Fathers from around the world, to join in with us and complete this task. As individuals we can only achieve so much, but with the support of Gurbani and the Sangat, we can attain everything.

So let’s show our conviction and faith in Vaheguru ji and complete Savah Lakh (125,000) Sri Jaap Sahib de Paath by 06 June 2014

This paath will allow each one of us to make a daily contribution to the betterment of the Panth. We are at a stage where simply attending one day events is not enough, we need to be working daily towards living as true Khalsa’s. If we truly care, then taking out just a few minutes each day is a small contribution to make.

WHO CAN AND SHOULD GET INVOLVED?

The answer to this question is simple:

Anyone who loves the blessed Shaheed Singhs and Singhnia of the Khalsa Panth…and
actually wants to make a difference by reading and doing parchar of the Bani of Pita Ji Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj.

So in essence, this should include each and every one of us. It doesn’t matter, whether you have taken Amrit or not, whether you keep your kesh or not, whether you belong to certain groups or not. This is our chance to gather as a community of human beings and do something together for the betterment of our Panth and remember the Brave Warriors who lived and died for the Truth.

SO WHAT SHOULD I DO?

What we ask is that each of us reads/listens to as many Jaap Sahib’s as possible with a collective aim to reach the target of 125,000. So read/listen to the Sacred Bani of Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj and record how many you have done. Then on a daily, weekly or fortnightly basis update the website so that we can keep a record of how we are doing.

If you cannot read Gurbani then please try and listen to the bani being read. You can download the audio, watch videos with the audio playing and obtain English translations for you to read. We just want as many people contributing as much as they can for our Beloved Khalsa Panth. If this means that you can manage one Jaap Sahib a day, then we thank you, as that is one more Bani being read for the Chardi Kala of our Beloved Panth.

Please, take out this time and do as much as you can.

*Please note the Jaap Sahib that you do as a part of your Nitnem does not count towards the Savah Lakh (125,000) Jaap Sahib Gurbani jaap.

RECORDING THE PAATH

The primary method of recording the number of paath done will be via this website www.jaapsahib.com, we ask that you visit the site regularly to submit the number of paaths you (and your family/friends) have done. The information we receive will be treated with the upmost respect and confidentiality.

This is not started by any particular jathabandi or political group; just the youth of the Panth…..for the love of the Panth and the Mahaan Shaheeds of our great Kaum whom spilt every last drop of blood in their bodies for the Chardi Kala of the Khalsa Panth.

Please help promote this and take part in the seva as it is a formidable task to take on.

the idea is to do 125,000 over a year days which equals to approx 343 jaap sahibs a day

so far they are at 334 after 4 days, at the current rate they are doing around 83 per day.

it takes approximately 15 minutes to do or listen to jaap sahib, you can easily do 4 in under an hour

or if you have it on your headphones 12 in 3 hours

they have a form on the page which records all the jaap sahibs automatically and you dont have to put real details in if you want to be gupt -

I understand why the old singhs used to say to memorise gurbani, as it becomes a part of you, after listening to jaap sahibs on headphones it seems to echo even when you dont have it on.

Baba Virsa Singh ji said about Jaap Sahib

Jaap sahib can be quite a formidable task when you first start out, i remember when i first learnt japji sahib then I heard jaap sahib and i was like "oh my life, how will i ever read that" so this is a perfect chance for everyone to practice.

Really appreciate this initiative as what better way to remember and honour the shaheeds by reciting the bani they respected and loved.
