Below is a brief summary of the sakhi:

Essentially a sikh in dehli visited his friend's fuffarji's (Baru Mal) house. He was a very rich man who owned a coca cola factory. Anyways this sikh saw Baru Mal had a 8 foot painting of Santji in his drawing room. Baru Mal cried as he saw them discussing the painting and then explained why he had such a reaction.

When Baru Mal's grandson Sandeep was 11 he was diagnosed with brain cancer. He was taken for treatment to Bombay and England. Despite this he was only given 3 years to live. Following this Baru Mal and his family began to visit various hindu asthans such as Rishkesh, they would do seva of any 'sant'. Eventually they visited a hindu 'sant' who told them to feed 101 cows, 51 pandits and bathe in the Ganges. If they did this Sandeep would live to 100. Despite this everytime they visited the doctors for a medical update they were told the cancer continued to spread.

Finally Sandeep's maternal grandmother - Naina Devi - decided to take him to darbar sahib and Sant Jarnail Singh. Everyone in the family went apart from Baru Mal who thought Santji to be a terrorist. Anyways when they told Santji about their problem Santji told them to recite Sri Sukhmani Sahib and place water from the sarovar on Sandeep as they were doing this. He then arranged for an akhand path done by Singhs who had received complete santhia and told the family after this it is up to Guru Raam Das Ji Maharaj. For the next three days Sandeep who was unconscious was sat within hearing distance of the akhand path. After the akhand path the family headed back home. Within hours Sandeep had regained consciousness and eventually with the blessings of Guru Sahib made a complete recovery from the cancer.

Baru Mal was crying because he had visited so many Pakhandi Sants but he missed his chance to meet the one who attached them to the feet of Guru Sahib. That Guru who eventually cured their grandson.

    • This is where the vichola needs to get involved, and family!
    • Hi All, I havent been on this forum for a while but I thought id give it a try again as it helped me through some rough times earlier in my life. I wanted to seek for guidance on sikhi and marriage ... I noticed a post earlier on sanjog etc. and it got me thinking about my own life and marriage. For context, I have been married 3 years and things are not working out. When we met, I looked in to sanjog alot and it felt like it was written. However, as these years have gone by its become apparent that we no longer align with each other and our marriage is struggling. We dont seem to understand each other and things have fallen apart. We are at a stage now where separation/divorce is looking like the best option. Neither of us are happy and whilst we have tried to work things through in many different ways, after 3 years we have drifted away. What are the sikh views on this? is it written if we decide that we no longer serve each other? or is that a sin and should I continue to work at it? my issue at the moment is that it is draining me. I feel withdrawn from everything due to things going on between us including sikhi and going to the gurdwara.  Breaks my heart to even be writing this but I do think if we are both not happy and cant see a way of being happy then what is the point in continuing? Or should I be continuing and is it paap if we dont honour our laavan? if that is the case, what does sikhi say about marriage? how do I continue knowing everyday I feel the way I do?   Thanks

    • I'll use this place as my spiritual journal so if anyone wants to join then feel free to! I'm not sure if this could be classed as an experience but last week (or 2 weeks ago), I felt my saliva to be sweet however I lost it after a week. I don't really regret it though, if I lost it then it's Hukam Another point, I feel my concentration to be very good for a while, I can focus on the void for a longer period of time than I could before. I also feel a lot more Anand, it's all Guru di kirpa
