if we create special workships where Saroops are produced by sangat for Sangat as part of a syllabus of gaining Gurmukhi and Sikhi knowledge we would do nothing but gain true Gursikhs . I went to the tibetan refugee settlements in Himachal Pradesh , they have made sure there is no chance that the future generations do not lose their links to their culture, language, art by setting up workshops and the youth are willing to donate ten- eleven years of their lives to become masters of those artforms whether Tangka paintings, metal sculpture, scripture calligraphy, embroidery, holy tapestry arts or embossing/carving. These are people who walk as children for three months over the mountains just in the clothes they stand in , sent by their families to make a better life and to build Tibetan Future .

What is our excuse ? we have money, lands, institutions, gurdwarey, knowledge, bazurj to ask, masters of those skills, and all the insight to improve the whole scenario, who are we waiting for?

Just watched the video by Jugraj Singh from Basics of Sikhi referred to in the above post and he hit the nail on the end.

The bigger problem is that there is no leadership and direction. As bhai sahib mentioned a good example was Sangat in Italy sent a whole shipment of Guru Maharaaj Saroops back to India to be agan bheyt (burnt) as there were too many. On the hand there weren't enough in the UK who then ordered a shipment of new Saroops.

Bhenjee, I don't think we can forget the SGPC. The SGPC needs a drastic reformation as mentioned by user Jonny101 veerjee in another thread (quite remember where though!).

Bhenjee I totally agree with the workshop ideas but the "problem" is that there are many different Sikh organisations that making such endeavours (e.g. Baru Sahib, SoKrit etc) but there isn't any co ordination.

Problems such as this Guru Maharaaj Saroop publishing, beadbee of Saroops and many others are ALL down to the weak and pretty much non existent leadership from the SGPC and Akaal Thakhat (feel awful for saying this about the Akaal Thakhat!)

Regardless of any fact, i strongly think that nobody should print guru sahib jee except the akal takht sahib. This is the only way to have crazy shraarti ansar not to change gurbani. Missing or misplacing or forgetting anything is huge paap.

I do not think Guru ji should be printed at all , we should be writing out saroops because it would be the equivalent of doing three khoole paaths: once when we read original, twice in our minds, third when we read what we scribe. How amazing would that be much better than empty resams.

I would propose workshops under Akal Takht supervision in each country overseen by avasta vale panj Gursikhs from each tradition e.g. taksal, nirmala, nihang, sewapanthi, where requests for a saroop would be vetted and preparations made to prepare household/gurdwara Gursikhs are able to read Shudh uccharan of Guru ji in larivaar saroop while the saroop is prepared . So that would mean no spare copies to go missing , to end up in bad places/hands. each akkar checked for the slightest fault as the work proceeds so no piles of misprinted pages that end up in on the floor in some village somewhere

At the moment I think outside agencies are involved in printing Guru ji and the Satkar level is questionable , the reason given for outside agencies was too much demand ...but obviously they are NOT producing to order otherwise we would not have the situations such as in Italy above, also there must be unscrupulous people who are willing for money to sell to anyone in India otherwise how could RSS put saroops in their mandirs for Beadbhi? Since the overseer is the final person to be held responsible that means SGPC and Akal Takht are allowng these events to happen and expect Satkar Committee to fix the messes...not good enough.
