Should Sikhs Celebrate Christ-Mas

Recommended Posts

What you say is the truth.

The majority of 'Christians' do not even know of the story, or celebrate his birth. They just like the tree and house decorating and the food and drinking. Same with many others.

I wonder why people on this forum just pretend America doesn't exist? Christ-Mas is still an extremely religious holiday in some countries: in fact there are church advertisements, (Since Christianity is a business), to come on Christmas to Church. Same thing with Easter.

I know of some so called "Sikh" families that actually celebrate Christmas is a bigger and more enthusiastic fashion than white Christians. They go to all the Christmas markets, have the biggest trees and fully decorated houses etc etc.

Funny how they fail to be as much excited or enthusiastic when it comes to Vaisakhi or Gurprubs.. They probably don't even go to the Gurdwara on these occasions.

Yeah, I've come across so many of those. I mean fair play if they like that Christmassy feeling and they're integrated into whichever western society they're a part of. But at least try to teach your children about the essential Sikh dates and who the notable figures are on such occasions, etc. But they just don't want to know. It's like complete resistance to their own religion, as if their precious kids will get polluted with such knowledge. Some of these are good people, but when it comes to things like this I can only shake my head in disbelief.

People knock some Gursikhs for various reasons such as their exclusivity and occasional haughtiness, but at least they'll pass on the relevant knowledge about Gurpurabs, etc, to their kids. Without them Sikhi would die out eventually. BTW, I'm not bigging myself up before anyone chimes in, lol.

As we reside here in the UK, this is of only relevance.

There might be adverts, but the USA isn't as Christanfied as it once was. Only a few states you'd find such devotees. Most are Atheists
