Why is our community so un-intellectual?

Something that isn't a complete taking of other cultures, and instead is a culture that was practiced by our ancestors or is cultivated by our own people. Original forms of literature, music, visual arts, not forms ripped off of West Asian cultures.

No such thing as a original culture.. It doesn't work like that.. Cultural expressions are informed by borrow from things around them..

Not sure where you're getting your claim of being over-represented in the sciences? Source? We are in fact not represented in science at all.

I think you are calling out headline grabbing big names in science.. You need only to go to university in any major UK city and you will find numerous, researchers, thinkers, academics doing important work in a wide range of fields. Moreover if you compared to other ethno-religious groups will similar characteristics of migration, you would see Sikhs aren't doing to badly at all in comparison to other groups..

There is of course much more required and more we could do. But there is also much to celebrate and be proud about

I'm talking about innovation, new ideas being introduced to the world by Sikhs. But, I think @Ranjeet01 has answered my question about that. That we first as a people need to learn the rules of the game, to be able to play it better than everyone else later on like the Japanese. So I'm hoping the Sikhs you mention that are involved in research will lead on to pass on that knowledge and interest for the sciences in their progeny as well. I know I will.

I think we're big on celebrations already, so no need for anymore.

None of these can be termed original cultures.. No culture is 'pristine'..

Cultures emerge within space and time, with specific cultural, social, political and economic environments.. They may have unique characteristics but they are always informed by external forces and history particular to the setting...

They are far more original than Punjabi culture - a blatant copy of West Asian culture, a people who we have nothing to do with.

In what way?

In every way haha. Any cultural item that you hold dear to with the exception of bhangra originated in West Asia. It is as foreign to us as is Western culture that we ironically despise.

Have you ever considered that the syncretic nature of punjabiat is what makes it unique.. It's inclusiveness opposed to others exclusivism?

No, it just makes us look like a defeated people. I'm sure we had a culture, but clearly there are not traces of it left due to terrible preservation.

That's exactly what I'm suggesting. But Punjabi culture is not Sikh culture.
