Real talk. Long post

The movement is dead. It's got pretty much no real takers in Panjab itself, they've had more than enough of conflict and its aftereffects (economic problems, drug use, lost generations, broken homes), and they're more focused on making end's meet. India was in a significantly weaker position back in the '80s in several ways, and even then the movement was wrapped up once KPS Gill was given a free rein to deal with the Insurgency however he saw fit.

Compared to back then, now India is way stronger economically, it's not nearly under as much pressure from different separatist movements as it was back then, it's gotten more experienced at handling insurgencies and is less likely to engage in the reckless & dirty Indira Gandhi type politics that created the Insurgency in the first place, Pakistan is in no position to help any movement the way they did in the '80s, none of the Western countries who were somewhat anti-India back then (Cold War; India was Soviet Bloc) would be against it now - the US & India are actually more or less allied and every country wants in on India's untapped market and booming economy. Judging from the way China avoids any real International pressure after what they're doing to Muslims (due to its economy and influence), it's unlikely India would be put under pressure either. Not to mention, the original movement grew organically from huge catalysts like Op Bluestar and grew from a bigger population pool with many able bodied youth - the current population still reflects the conflict's effects, and a lot of the youth are drug addled now anyways.

The best thing to do now is to turn away from violence and focus on education, social change & upliftment, and decimating the drug & alcohol menace. And continue exercising democratic and peaceful options to push for change and justice; the way Phoolka Ji recently got Sajjan Kumar convicted, along with those 2 other guys.

Instead of advocating that young Sikhs catch flights to Delhi to begin armed struggle we need to be sensible.

We need to form jatha's at pind level that drugs are not openly sold and consumed and keep a lid on alcohol sales and consumption.

Instead of giving money to dubious organisations advocating armed struggle verbally (but secretly unwilling to leave their luxurious lives in the West) we need to prioritize young Sikh children in Punjab actually getting a good education and becoming literate as only with educated youth will the Panth's future have the knowledge to avoid being treated unfairly. As illiterates will always be at a disadvantage to GOI bureaucrats.

So long as caste divisions in Gurughars exist and people continue to support or tolerate matrimonial apartheid then there is no realistic prospect of overturning GOI discrimination as divide+rule tactics can easily be employed on weak caste-minded people.

Money needs to be invested in Punjab by overseas Sikhs in order to generate employment for the youth as each job can uplift a family out of poverty. As so long as Sikh families struggle with daily survival it will be too hard for them to think of anything else. Overall India's economy is now growing at a faster rate than China's whilst Punjab continues to be a laggard economically. The weaker Punjab is economically compared to those that discriminate against Sikhs the weaker our ability to combat their anti-Sikh discrimination.

The Sikh fertility rate is below replacement level and female infanticide is at disgraceful levels in Punjab. On top of that Sikhs have internalised Hindutva propaganda that only Amritdhari Gursikhs (around 3% of the Punjab population) are Sikhs so that anti-Sikh forces can define Sikhs as a permanent democratic minority. Only by including all Gurdwara Sangat and all sehajdhari Sikhs within the Panth will the Sikh Panth ever have a democratic voice.

Before too many start fantasizing about taking one way tickets to Punjab to launch armed struggle against a terrorist state with 1000 times greater resources and ammunition which is backed and supported by the USA, Russia, UK, Canada, China, France, Australia for trade and business reasons, we need to not take our eyes off the fact that Sikhs are projected to be a minority in Punjab by the time of 2021 census due to the Balmiki and Dera Ballan apartheid mandir franchises aiming to convert 5 million Sikhs into tomorrow's Hindutva votebank (as Doaba is already an area of Punjab where Sikhs are now a minority).

We need to get up off the floor and walk before we can run the marathon.

Real talk! Funding education for poor Sikhs is key instead of wasting time shouting and designing a new capital at Lahore

    • They are taking over from within. They knew in our Gurus time they couldn't win by force so now they're trying to come into countries acting all "working" and then they spread their faith from within. We were here long before them and the gorreh love us. They know we fought for them and that we are loyal, hardworking and truthful.  To them, anyone who doesn't "submit" (that's what muslim actually means) is an enemy. Just like Aurangzeb and Wazir Khan, all the way to when they would groom Apnian to convert them in London back in the 90s. They can make their prayers discreet but they CHOOSE not to. They want to "normalise" their faith. Once everyone's familiar with it then they will try to force it on people even more. Not many will convert to a completely foreign idea but one that everyone knows already may give them a chance
    • it was. Look up his picture he looks like the spawn of the devil, literally. I don't get scared easily but I actually had a jump scare googling him he looks like pure evil
    • Paaji if you look carefully when Southall was mainly Sikh (when the Sangat first settled) those areas were great. Ilford is a prime example. Today everyone knows that place is a dump but back when it was just apne and jews the place was spotless. Problem is in London, it's always Jews in an area first and the Sikhs come to stay for about 20 years. But then the <banned word filter activated> move in we all run like it's the plague (we all know why). Same thing happened to Southall, now we're losing it to Somalis rapidly. Issue is that Sikhs make an area good, but when the <banned word filter activated> come we all move and leave it for them to ruin. We need to flock an area and STICK TO IT like they do. Had Sikhs not left Ilford and sold houses to them It would still be okay.
    • Let them try to come for us. Guru Gobind Singh Ji maharaj gave us a Dastar to stand out and a shastar to defend it. Package deal. Singhs say in schools "another kid pulled my joora down" then I say "tere Shastar kithe si, Maharaj ne sanu ik talwar ditta si, pagg nu rakshe vaaste" We're Shastar dhari for a reason. To protect ourselves and others. And for Singhs in the region, what is stopping them getting 15-20 Singhs together and going down to protect our Gurdware and even other places of faith like we're meant to? Happened in Ilford back in like 2013 with the racist riots, a hundred Singhs and Kaurs flooded Karamsar Gurdwara to guard it. Sadly our Sardaari has been lost apparently.
    • We're still here bro don't worry 💪 . The Singhs on Reddit aren't as nice or knowledgeable as those on here, I don't really like them. For me, this site was a staple of London singhs back in the 2000s which I love. Back when we repped Patkas, Shahi Turbans and Dumalla Sahibs instead of a little black durag tied w a patka cos we're scared to look like real Singhs with a joora on our heads like Maharaj told us to and rep the panth
