Daughter of council leader implicated in Rotherham child sex grooming scandal helps run support service for its victims

This is just unreal. It claims that a member of the council might have helped broker a deal with the police to protect a paedo relative! And then people try and deny Sikh claims that the establishment are purposefully playing down or denying Sikh girls being targeted by such groomers.

Miss Akhtar's father is Jahangir Akhtar, who quit as deputy leader of the council in 2013 and lost his seat on the council the following year.

His resignation followed claims he helped broker a deal with police involving one of his relatives.

The relative - gang ringleader Arshid 'Mad Ash' Hussain - was said to have agreed to hand a missing 14-year-old girl to officers at a petrol station after receiving an assurance that he would not be prosecuted.

An independent inquiry led by Professor Alexis Jay found an estimated 1,400 Rotherham girls were targeted for sexual abuse by organised gangs of mostly British Pakistani men over 16 years.

Four brothers who were jailed for a total of 98 years in 2016 after being convicted of 53 child sex offences against 16 girls - Arshid, Basharat, Bannaras and Sageer Hussain - are related to the Akhtars.

Abuse victims helped by Rise voiced concern about the appointment.

One woman, who was helped by the charity along with her sister, and who gave evidence against the Hussain brothers, said: 'I'm staggered that the charity and council didn't recognise that putting Jahangir Akhtar's daughter in that role would create a potential conflict of interest.'

'What sort of a signal does that send out to CSE survivors? How are we supposed to have any confidence that the authorities in Rotherham have learnt from the past?'

The woman said Miss Akhtar's work for the charity could have given her access to information about girls and women who were groomed and sexually exploited by one or more of her relatives or their associates.

Rise is believed to have informed Rotherham council of Miss Akhtar's appointment but the local authority is thought to have reported no concerns.

Reported for Islamophobia.

comeon now ! criticizing pedos and islamic extremism is not islamophobia. Its only islamophobia when u make life of every day law-abiding , 9-to-5 office musims difficult. But a 'gang ringleader' doesn't sound innocuous to me at all !

to the OP , why is it so shocking to you considering your and MisterSingh's obvious "gyaan" of ultimate islamic goal of global conquest. In that larger pic frame, the guy in question was simply helping and preferring his 'pious momin nephew' over 'kaafir communities'

Why you talking about things that are going on in a country you don't live in, like you are some sort of gyani yourself?

Seriously give it a rest. This is more important than your attention seeking.

I'm shocked because more and more evidence pointing at establishment collusion (which some Sikhs have been claiming for decades now) is emerging, and certain goray and paks are still trying to do some weird jedi mind trick where this stuff emerges and they act like it isn't there.

Apnay need to wake up to this. Especially the closeted pampered ones. Street guys have suspected this for decades. It's time for the rest of the UK panth to wake up, and take appropriate action.

I'm wondering if this stuff was happening to apneean in the US or Canada, would the authorities turn a blind eye to it there - or actively help cover it up like they have in the UK for so long?

I agree with you totally on this. Sikhs need to wake up and unite for damn sake.

The best way to tackle this is not outside but from within family. When we raise our kids in panthic values, and educate our girls of the wolves out there in general and islamic jackals in particular , then we raise more confident daughters. We need to train girls in martial arts as well.

Even our sons are not safe I believe. I have been tried to be seduced to islam by a classmate whom I saw moving from outwardly secular to religious (he started growing beard and wearing skull cap) . Once in library , he tried seducing me with the ghastly punishments of hellfire. I remember him telling me "hellfire is so hot , brain melts out through the nostrils" which seemed ludicrous LMAO.

And TBH, its in UK , but not just UK. I live here in india metro city and our sikh neighbors both daughters were seduced and ultimately eloped with muslim men . The argument "if you don't send your daughters out often, they won't be at risk" is also not true because both of those girls were quite decent and homely . "Love jihad" is always on alert here
