not sure about any battle, but the sarovar around harmandir sahib was a lake in a dense forest area i believe.

iv heard that Guru Nanak Dev ji visited this place and that buddha did too

I think Guru Amar Das ji chose the location while Guru Ram Das ji made the lake into a sarovar and started a city which later became Amritsar

During the time of Guru Ram Das ji  bibi Rajni visted the sarovar with her sick husband and saw crows flying into it and coming out as doves, Her husband also went into the sarovar and came out free from his disease. The part of the sarovar that this happened in is where dukh bhanjani beri is.    I think Bibi Rajni visited when it was still a forest and not a city yet ...

other than that   i dont know more ...

we can never know for sure . But I am betting it was always some holy, blessed place.

All we know is it was a beautiful small lake surrounded by a beautiful forest . The lake was further extended to the size it is today around harmandar sahib .

I think that might be the war that took between ram and his sons! I think ram did not know that they were his sons and his sons did not know that ram was their father because sita was sent back to the forest and that's where she gave birth.  Ramayan was written in amritsar by valmiki theres a mandir there called ram tirath.  I think luv, kush and sita narrated their story to valmiki in the forest. from what I remember hanuman also visited this place and there is a ancient mandir there where hanuman visited. All this basically happened in the area that today is amritsar.

Ajeet will probably know more ...

    • Waheguru ji ka khalsa  Waheguru ji ke fateh  Sangat ji  i need your help. I have been training in combat sport since i was a child. Raised to be a fighter at a professional level.  I took Amrit 2 years ago and im Grateful for this Gift everyday. I'm now getting back into training and need an alternative way to keep my 5 kakkars on during training especially when i am sparring with my team  one on one. I don't want to hurt anyone in my gym, we have been training together since we were kids. They are like my family. I know wearing a necklace with kanga and kirpan defeats the purpose. I wear my kakkars  ALL TIME and i dont want to take it off for training but i also don't want to injure my team when im sparring.  Khalsa are warriors we need to train. And unfortunately we don't get that training at Gurdwaras in Canada.  Singhs should have an equal opportunity to join the combat sport at a professional level. But fighting in the ring or octagon at a professional level, the commision will not allow even a kara during the tournament.  And i can't cover my head during the fight with a dumalla or even a bandana. Does that mean i should give up on my dream, which ive trained for all my life?  Its not like im cutting my kes. Which is a bujjer Kurehit  Or do you think Guru  Gobind Singh ji Maharaj will bless me with any decision i make?  He knows my inner feelings. My Guru ji is antarjami. He understands.  Please help!!!! Any suggestions?  Waheguru ji ka khalsa  Waheguru ji ke fateh
    • What a blessed life that has blessed us all.
    • Hazoori Ragi Balbir has sadly passed away hai Sahib inspired the whole panth with his passion for singing. It is said that he originally was a nihang but his love of kirtan he humbled himself and changed his turban so he would be allowed to play kirtan in Darbar Sahib Amritsar, and treasure of love. His words and life demonstrated not just his passion but also a simple teaching of our beloved Guru. Bhai Sahib explains to us all an important episode in history: During the time of Guru Arjun the ego had arisen in the musicians at the time who left the court of the Guru. Guru Arjun Dev taught the sangat that we don't need to rely on the particular talent of such people, we should all learn how to play kirtan ourselves. The sangat began to learn. It is on all of us to participate in Guru's court. And this is the kind of inspiration that Bhai Sahib lived by. He began learning kirtan at the age of 4 and he never stopped. Sikhs around the world will always be inspired by such lovers of gurbani as Bhai Balbir Singh ji! When you see him play, you can see it is no chore for him, not simply a job or an ambition to be recognized or any such thing. He plays kirtan with his whole body. Watch this legendary video of him and pray that all of us may have more such innocence and joy with Gurus words.  its very sad news and there not much recent kirtan vedios of his kirtan
    • crazy stuff,  cow poo and wee is a multi billion dollar industry!      i really can't get my head around how these people actually see cows as divine and drink/eat there wee/poo.  makes you wonder what will the future of Sikhs be in that country.     this vid says that cow poo has vitamin b-12
