Is this usage of Ardaas fine?

Recommended Posts

Ardaas is a great gift of Guru Sahib to a sikh.

A sikh can do Ardaas and ask for forgiveness for a mistake.

But there is a rich amritdhari who removes his kirpan kakaar while swimming in his swimming pool.Sangat told him not do so but he says he does ardaas of forgiveness every time he removes kirpan before entering swimming pool.

Is he doing right?

I don't think so.

This is not a 'mistake' - it's fully intentional. Why can't he keep a kirpaan, even a smaller one, whilst in swimming pool? If he chooses not to do that, he should not be doing Ardaas repeatedly for the same issue

My father told me that during Kharrku movement, a Kharrku Singh met a urban sikh(bhappaa) and asked for assistance.

Urban sikh said that he can't pick a gun and fight but he will surely do Ardaas for the kharrkus lol

Many jatts or other pendus would have given the same reply as the 'Bhappa' in this situation I think - this Ardaas is acceptable I think as it seems genuine .

When your fellow brothers are being killed and tortured, will you just do an Ardaas for your fighting unit?

I feel such an Ardaas is a sign of cowardice.

Depends on the exact situation - what if the Khatri had family responsibilities, and the Kharku is unmarried ?

I think your above post is actually very interesting, and i would like to see what others say

Veer

If a Khatri does Ardaas for the fighting unit, it's fine.

But in this case he was asked by the Kharrku for assistance and the bhappaa chose Ardaas.
