Over the last few days, the Hindutvis with police help in Himachal Pradesh had been forcing many Sikhs going to Manikaran Sahib in the state from flying both Nishan Sahibs as well as flags with photos of Santji and Deep Sidhu. Once these videos came on social media, many Sikh youths in Punjab retaliated by stopping the trucks with HP plates from entering Punjab on the Kiratpur Sahib road. This has forced the HP police to issue clarifications that no such events happened and nothing of the sort will happen in future. While everyone knows it happened and the police are lying as usual but the pressure that the HP traders suffered may have been minimal but it showed what can happen in Punjab if the Hindutvis don't curb their actions. On SM there was also posts that Punjabis should be taking actions against the workers in Punjabi factories who are from Himachal. There were even posts that they should be kicked out of Punjab. 

While these SM posts may seem tame compared to the posts that Hindutvis put up during Modis aborted visit to Punjab, the actions of Sikh youth should be welcomed because they have shown an understanding of how the Indian system works. Unless a people are prepared to retaliate in areas where they are in a majority then their people in areas where they are in a minority will suffer constant harassment. The incidents in HP were a first probing attack to see how awake Sikhs are and we should be grateful that the Sikh youth in Punjab took action that will prevent any further incidents like this in the future.

Horses for courses. Each reaction has to be according to the situation. But the fact that we as a community have never had a reputation to reacting in such a way and that is changing has to be a positive development because the Hindutvis and Jehadis have to think twice before attacking if they think that there will be a reaction against their people in Punjab. The Waris Punjab De jathebandi is showing some good promise. I watched a video of their Mukh Sewadar Amritpal Singh Sandhu and he appears to understand perfectly the situation that Punjab is facing. He said that both public and private sector jobs in Punjab should be reserved and 80% should go only to Punjabis. While Haryana has recently passed this law, in Punjab any tom <banned word filter activated> or harry to come there to work. The same was the case with buying land. Only Punjabis should be able to buy land. Other states in India have had these laws for decades and yet any non-Punjabi can buy land in Punjab. Bhaiyas and Gujjars have been buying land in Punjab and yet Sikhs cannot buy land in Himachal or Rajasthan.
