Quite cool, a sundial or sun clock at Harmandir Sahib. Its from the time of the Sikh empire. I've never seen it before but its along the bridge that connects the Dharshan Deori and Harmandir Sahib. Nice bit of history! hopefully they won't destroy it!

Give examples of how our Gurus served and exemplified justice, humanity and ethics ... 3 examples with Guru Gobind Singh ji A Mughal emperor, I think it was the son or grandson of Aurangzeb, he was the heir apparent to the throne but his younger brother sat on the throne instead. The Mughal then approached Guru ji and asked for assistance, Guru Ji recognized that its the older brother who has the right to sit on the throne, not the younger, Guru Ji sent some Singh's into battle and they won. The older brother then sat on the throne. In India and most other cultures it was the right of the older brother to sit on the throne, e'g Mahabharat, Vali & Sugriv from…

Got this from Wikipedia. I am preety sure Sharda Pooran Granth was not recited by Guru Ji it was written by Bhai Mani Singh Ji. No. Bani Title Alternate Name Description 1 Mahalla Dasven This is a composition of two letters, one by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and one by Guru Gobind Singh ji. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji writes- My strength is exhausted, and I am in bondage; I cannot do anything at all. Says Nanak, now, the Lord is my Support; He will help me, as He did the elephant. My strength has been restored, and my bonds ha…

Pooranshami is a full moon which happens every month and is celebrated as Guru Nanak Dev Ji's birthday. According to Sant Nand Singh Ji if we can we should stay up at night and do Path if you stay up for as long as you can you get the merit(Is it the right word) as one amrit vela. If you stay uo the entire night and day you get the merit of a year worth of amrit vela. Sant Nand Singh Ji also said that Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born at 12:51 am. So if you are staying up at least stay up untill 12:51. If you are worried you will miss amrit vela you don't have to stay up at night. Just do simrin while sleeping.

Is time relative in Sikhi? Are souls born in different yugs/civilizations according to their karma? I would think so but never really thought about it...

Translations were done Lala Sreeram. I will copy word by word what he wrote as it is so beautiful. Preface and Introduction Part 1 PREFACE A worm that is already well-known needs no word of commendation. It has made it’s way in the outlying districts of the Punjab, and every Sadhu who knows to read and write receives instruction from his Guru, on this very work, so that by perusing it, he learns all that is worth knowing of the Upanishads. It embodies a mass of instruction which cannot be otherwise had, unless a large number of original works difficult to understand, and requiring the life-time of an individual, are gone through, It is the only work of its kin…

According to Guru Nanak Ji to a peer, "Hell and Heaven is a state of mind. Not a Geographic location." SGGS states "Jamdoot come and beat up paapis/ Nirguras. Wine and fish eaters go to hell" etc. Also, hell is fire Heaven is freedom, joy, Sukhi saans. My opinions. Apparently, God is also known as "Upperwale" (Being up there). So if Heaven is up and hell is down (according to tradition) we need to think, what is up? Space, stars! No gravity. Sounds like all the good / religious folks do become stars after death! Of course not the case but what else is up? Now, lets focus on down... Core of the Earth, Heat! Lava! Hot n scary items. Interestingly we humans…

https://www.sikhnet.com/news/ੴ-eikkao-proper-pronunciation What are everyone's thoughts on the article? Does anyone have any counterpoints? In my view the author is trying too hard to disassociate Sikhi from Indic philosophy. Article: ੴ EikkAo, The Proper Pronunciation Gulbarg Singh Basi ੴ, is the very first and only symbol / word written in the very first line of handwritten copies of the Guru Granth Sahib (SGGS) e.g. ਕਰਤਾਰ ਪੁਰ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੀੜ = krtaar pur vaali beerh. It is also written as the first word on most handwritten hukm naamay of Guru Sahibs as compiled by Prof. Ganda Singh in his book ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਂਮੇ = hukm naamay (Orders). T…
