Waheguru ji ka Khlasa Waheguru ji ki Fateh saw this article and thought it had something worth sharing http://www.tapoban.org/phorum/read.ppa?f=1...i=18154&t=18154 I'M GONNA SAVE SIKHI! Well, not really. But I've seen this attitude lately. It's not a bad thing. We need to really do something to help Sikhi out. But, this is easier said than done. I remember when I used to be involved in camps, the organizers used to have meetings and privately discuss how many Amritdharis we were going to "create" with this camp. What lectures we could give to inspire people to take amrit, etc. Ironically, at one meeting like this, me and another organizer were talking and …

A bridge spanned a large river; during most of the day the bridge sat with its length running up and down the river paralleled with the banks, allowing ships to pass through freely on both sides of the bridge. But at certain times each day, a train would come along and the bridge would be turned sideways across the river, allowing a train to cross it. A switchman sat in a small shack on one side of the river where he operated the controls to turn the bridge and lock it into place as the train crossed. One evening as the switchman was waiting for the last train of the day to come, he looked off into the distance through the dimming twilight and caught sight of the trainlig…

My cup runnith over with the blood of my sins strangling the love I once felt within A long time ago it was stolen from me the essence of life woe be it to me I claimed to see but I saw my own sight blind as a bat on the darkest of nights Battered by storms adrift in the sea I accused myself of this iniquity Each passing day returned with new hope searching with vigor my faith is my boat The thunder will pass the clouds drift away the light of new life will shine one day I knew it would happen my heart still beats true the darkness of life left when I met you You came into being like a soft gentle breeze changing me completely making me free…

Dear Sangat Members, I'm a new user on this website and I was not brought up a Sikh (so my attitudes may be different) and I am by no means at an advanced stage of learning so I apologise in advance for saying something incorrect. I've noticed some Sikhs make references to praying for specific physical outcomes whereas others do not. I've seen the thread debating the specifics of Abrahamic religions versus the Sikh view of 'God' but haven't found an answer to my specific question. I have noticed over time that some Sikhs will state that they have themselves or will ask others to actively pray 'for' a particular physical (i.e. physical worldly realm) outcome, be it to c…

Episode No. 3 ESCHEW RETALIATION Once when Guru Amar Das was in Goindwal, Sikhs used to bring water for the langar in earthen pitchers. Young Turks (alien Muslims from the ruling class) would break the pitchers with mud-pellets shot from catapults. Those Turks were called Sheikhs. Their parents were aware of this activity. But they would not stop them. Rather, they enjoyed the fun. "O True Master, kids of the Turks, with pellets from their slings, break our pitchers,"complained the Sikhs. The Guru instructed them to use mashaks (leather bags) to fetch water. The Sikhs started using mashaks. But the young Turks would make holes in them with arrows. "O True Master, they …

As Sikhs, the Guru advices us to stay on the path of GurSikhi, which is the Sikh’s only way to the next world. When we live our days without devotion to Naam and Meditation (remembrance of Waheguru), we are only wasting our life away. When we realise that we are in this world to prepare for the next, only then can we live without fear of death. The Path is simple because the Guru has already chosen it for us. All we need to do is follow the Guru’s instructions – live in Truth and be Gurmukh. Death comes to all, and all must suffer separation. Go and ask the clever people, whether they shall meet in the world hereafter. Those who forget my Lord and Master shall suffer …
