I posted this a whille ago, but it got deleted, just sharing again..... I was listening to katha a few weeks ago: Dhan Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was on their travels, when they came across a humble servant of the lord who had nothing but a little mud hut to live in. Guru Sahib and Bhai Mardhana Ji decided to grace the humble Gursikh with their presance, agreeing to reside at the hut for the night. This Gursikh was most pleased, he had little to eat in the house, but prepared what he did have for Guru Ji - Bhai Mardhana Ji felt a little sad, knowing this humble servant had very little - and eating out of it. Guru Sahib knew this and told Bhai Mardhana not to worry, w…

The Khalsa Awake to the light (jyoti) Meditating day and night The Name of the Lord, Having no faith in any except the one Lord. Absorbed in His splendour, Absorbed in His Love, Even in error Never believing In fasts and tombs, Nor cloisters of idolatory; Caring not even for Bathing in holy places, Nor for penances of yogis Nor for asceticism of sannyasis; Know such a Child of Light, Such a paragon, Such a Complete Man, In whose heart ever shines, The perfect Light of God, To be the Khalsa. Guru Gobind Singh jee : Dasam Granth taken from The Turban and the Sword of the Sikhs by dr. Trilochan Singh (Sikh Missionary Society UK)

Why Do You Waver, O My Mind?
by Guest G.Kaur- 3 replies
Why do you waver, O my mind? The Lord is the Fulfiller of hopes and desires. Meditate on the True Guru, the Primal Being; He is the Destroyer of all pains. Worship and adore the Lord's Name, O my mind; all sins and corruption shall be washed away. Those who are blessed with such pre-ordained destiny, are in love with the Formless Lord. They abandon the tastes of Maya, and gather in the infinite wealth of the Naam. - Page 959, Sri Guru Granth Sahib JI -

ORIGINS Of NON-VIOLENCE MOVEMENT IN INDIA By: Alice Basarke As fate would have it Mahatma Gandhi is credited with starting the non-violent movement to oust the British out of India. Gandhi deserves a lot of praise because he did implement the principles of non-violence, but he certainly was not the originator of that concept. He learnt that from the Sikhs. The Sikhs drew their inspiration from their very Gurus, two of who had suffered martyrdom in order to make their point. Over time, the principle of non-violence was used again and again. In 1861 the British had introduced the Waqf Act which gave control and management of the holy places to their respective co…

The treasure of the Lord`s Praise is such a blessed gift; unto whom the Lord bestows it, he alone obtains and spends it. Without the True Guru, it does not come to hand; O Nanak, the self-willed manmukhs of the world lack this wealth; when they are hungry in the next world, what will they have to eat there?
