In the Asian Centre for Human Rights report, “Torture in India 2008: A State of Denial" - the first ever nationwide assessment on the use of torture in India – released 25th June 2008, Asian Centre for Human Rights stated that 7,468 persons, at an average of 1,494 persons per year or about four persons per day, have died and/or been killed in prison and police custody during 2002 to 2007. An equal number of persons, if not more, have been killed in the custody of the army, Central armed forces and States’ para-military forces in insurgency affected areas. A large number of these deaths are a result of torture. A pervasive regime of impunity is the single most important f…

Is being trapped in a burning skyscraper and knowing you are going to die a painful death torture? Water boarding is not torture. Torture is pouring gasoline down the throat of your innocent victim as Quday Hussein did. Torture is kidnapping then beheading your hostage on video as happened to Daniel Pearl in Pakistan. Torture is the forced "dowry bride"system that deprives any woman of her basic human rights at the onset of puberty as I see every day while working in the Middle East. Torture is the systemic elimination of religious viewpoints opposing yours through physical abuse and slow murder by starvation and imprisonment as is happening to opposing viewpoints in I…

Why did it have to come to this? Our brother, a son-why did he deserve this, does your blood boil? Do you feel like doing something... Amritsar, Punjab - Bhai Kulwant Singh, an inmate at Central Amritsar Jail, passed away today after sustaining severe burns caused by a suspicious fire in his jail cell. He was admitted to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital on Saturday in critical condition after suffering 50% burn injuries and major damage to his vital organs. Although no details regarding the cause of the fire have been released as authorities and fellow inmates refuse to comment, the jail superintendent, Rashpal Singh, has tried to suggest that the incident was the result of a…

I have to say that you guys are super cool! It seems that I did not know even what sikhism was before about a year ago and now I look for sikhs everywhere I go to wish them peace! I hardly ever see yall without a smile on your face and since I wish no harm to anyone,I believe and feel in my heart that some of the most trustworthy people MUST be sikhs! Now, as my signature says,I am a Muslim, but I must admit that most Muslims I meet, and I say this with a very sad heart, cannot be trusted. When I first found Islam I felt I should be able to trust my brothers and sisters, but have found this to be folly. I hope I am not wrong in my thinking that in general, sikhs are …

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG7i08NLbZI Just a heart wrenching video. Respect to Gagandeep Singh from calgary. Keep it up Singh. After watching videos like these I think how can people not remember. How can people say it happened move on. Still singhs rot in jail from that time. Still widows suffer. Too many people around the world suffer untold tortures and too many atrocities go on as we speak. Anyone not living in places where this is happening, how can you take even one second for granted. How can we say we are bored. To much bani to read to much naam to jap. This world won't last long the way it is going. To much violence towards each other. We build up barrie…

Read http://www.ajdiawaaz.com/ for full info Seeing this would make any Sikhs blood boil!! The only thing left to do now if to remove Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji's Saroops from these places and supporters of these "Sants" and Bhawans or Mandirs of these "Sants" should have Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj taken away to a proper Gurdwara Sahib. Then leave these Bhawans and mandirs empty these people can carry on doing "matha tek" to each other, we cannot tolerate Guru Sahib Ji's BEADBI! No other solution Sri Akal Takhat Sahib should issue an Hukamnamma to remove Saroops asap.

Touching Feet Or Bowing Down To Mahapurakhs

Khalsa Ji when we take Amrit we are told "sees ni jhukauna to anyone besides Guru Granth Sahib Ji. But in Gurbani it tells us to be the dust of saints and mahapurakhs. Is it okay to bow down in front of mahapurakhs to show satkaar and respect or touch their feet. But not consider them our Guru since Guru Granth Sahib Ji is our Guru. Please keep this a sincere discussion and also not bring in Deravaad etc.
