Author: Admin of Tapoban Gurdwara Sahib Date: 09-07-03 17:56 For those of us who've been to Sree Darbaar Sahib Amritsar, we may have noticed a sign outside on the Darshani Deori that reads, "It is for the knowledge of all tha tin Harimandir Sahib on April 30, 1877 at 4.30 in the morning, a strange thing happened. There were about four hundred devotees enjoying spiritual peace of celestial music in Harimandir Sahib when suddently a flash of lighting was seen which in the form of a big resplendence entered throught the door on the moutain-side and exploded exactly like a ball in front of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and illuminating everything went out, becoming a streak of …

gurfateh! well..for the past 3 months or so, that i have been a member of this group... people will talk about bad things that have happened to them, and how to get through it and such.. responses have generally been that it's a test from Guruji (or a supreme force anyways, i.e God, Waheguru, Satguru..whatever you wish to call it).. as no offense is offended, i wish to rebel against this view. Tests have been shown in the Bible as they believe not in reincarnation. every difficulty that arises is to be taken as a test that is to strengthen you. from this we get "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". whether it be with Moses and the Jews, or other famous "tests", t…

This past weekend at our Gurdwara, a Sikh "Scholar", don't remember the name, came to do some shabad translations. The kids/teens had just finishing doing kirtan, and also some Simran. He begins to translate a shabad and there is a line about naam and naam japna in the shabad. He begins to translate, and then, looking in our direction, he says, let me tell you what naam is. When naam is mentioned it does not refer to a name, it is about a feeling. It doesn't mean to say a certain name physically, it just means that you remember him however you like, and he kept going on that one shouldn't be doing naam japna and so on. It disturbed me a great deal when he said this.…

Ok I'm gonna start a game with gurbani in it see how far it goes! :D , here's how it works, I will provide a shabad and the last letter or 'akhar' of the shabad, should be the beginning letter of the next shabad after mine.. for example: Post #1) Satnam, Post #2) Madhao Post #3) Onkar, and so on. Also, with your shabad please provide translations, that way everyone will learn. I hope this works!! sangato i read this on another forum n wanted 2 know your views....... I've always hated patkas and lately I've come to understand why they are a BIG curse for all Sikhs. Firstly, a patka is not a dastaar and I have no clue where it came from. It's not a keskee either. It looks like a ball on one's head. When I wore one, I had genuinely concerned people asking my mother if I had a head injury. It looks like some kind of growth on the head. A dastaar is understandable to an observer: it's a turban. But what on earth is a patka??? 2ndly, I've noticed amongst older youth, that boys as they grow older never give up the patka (perhaps because of it's 'convenience') and more…

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! After studying a history of Sheed Bhai Mani Singh, who was a head granthi of Golden Temple and gave his life for Sikhism in 1738 A.D. He was cut limb by limb because he refuse to embrace Islam. In his memory Gurdwara Sheed Ganj Bhai Mani Singh was built in Lahore, but after 1947 it was closed. I looked at a latest picture of this historical Gurdwara and it is in very poor condition and can disapper any time because some local Pakistani resident is using the building for his personal use. I ask all Sikh community to write to Pakistan Gurdwara Parbandak Community and Pakistan Government to save this Sikh Gurdwara b…

As we all know the new generation in India is so anti-Gurmat. They cut there hairs, smoke, drink, do drugs, have BF/GF. Infact, my Indian relatives just laugh when I wear a Kurta Pejama. They themselves cut there hairs and drink Sharab. I remember this one time when I wore a Kurta Pejama in front of them, they all started laughing and sarcastically said “Gyani Bangiyaa”… I got so angry that the next time I came in front of them I wore a Blue Chola, 6 Karas on each arm, 3 foot long Kirpan, and a Kamar Kasaa. In addition to that, I wore a huge Dumallaah, with a Chand Tora along with a Sarbloh Chakra. At first they were so surprised that their mouths were left open. …
