Have Sikh women always used "Kaur"?
by Guest guest- 0 replies

I read "Kaur" was used by Sikh women due to the Singh Sabha Movement. Was using "Kaur" after a Sikh woman's name less popular prior to the movement? When was the first mention of "Kaur" in writing? Admin Note: Please post using your registered id.

Hi, everyone. Can you share what your stereotypes are about Sikh girls? The good, the bad, the ugly? For example: Indian girls (in general) are stereotyped as hairy, prudish, nerds, get fat after 1-2 kids, really smart (even the dumb ones), not as attractive as other ethnicities, loyal, good cooks. What do men here personally stereotype Sikh women as from your experiences with them? I'd like to know even if it hurts, thanks.

Hi, This has probably been discussed before but it's something I can't really wrap my head around. I'm a singh with full beard and have cousins who are the same, we are finding it difficult to find Sikh girls as life partners. The ones I've been introduced to have a problem with me not cutting my beard and being vegetarian etc... few have asked me if I would cut my beard etc... this coming from supposedly Sikh girls and it's quite disgraceful. I've had more interest from girls who are not Sikh...i.e Gujarati, English girls etc.. who don't seem to care about me being a full singh, it's raising questions in my head about the future of Sikhi as a whole, our Sikh g…

Russian boy at the Central Khalsa Orphanage 1 2

I just returned to Canada from visiting India after that country reopened to tourists after November 20 and one of the places, I visited was the Central Khalsa Orphanage in Amritsar. Even though the institution is a Sikh orphanage for boys, it does admit orphans regardless of caste, color, or creed. The orphanage director told me that around 4% of boys who are admitted to the Central Khalsa Orphanage are non-Sikh, Non-Punjabis from other parts of India and abroad. One of the four percenters that I met was an 11-year-old Russian boy named who was brought to the orphanage at the age of eight. He told me a Sikh businessman who was living in Russia arranged for him to be sent…

Hi Everyone My 13 year old cousin Jamie from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is currently a longterm exchange student living in Jammu. He is currently staying with a Gursikh family in Jammu and there has been problems. I just found out that Jamie has been insulting the patka of his host's sons who are aged 7 and 12 years respectivly. He constantly calls them doorknob heads and other insults. He has been warned by his host's that if he makes any more insults against their son's patka, they will force him to wear one as well. What should my cousin do?

Gadar 2
by Guest Guest- 0 replies

Sunny Deol is preparing to release Gadar 2: The Katha Continues, a sequence to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha 2001. This Bollywood film will do a lot of harm to Sikhs. The story is about a Sikh who falls in love with a Muslim girl, belonging to an aristocratic family and enters Pakistan illegally at the border. If Bollywood continues making such films then Pakistanis in return make films showing a Muslim hero and a Sikh girl (Larki Punjaban 2003). We should not support Bollywood films and actors that use Sikh character to project their anti-Muslim/anti-Pakistani views and then have Pakistanis make movies showing a Sikh girl-Muslim boy in return.

Are we ignorantly ignoring, what the shaheed singh said to bhai rama singh ji? and Khalsa Raj 1 2 3
by Guest singh- 24 replies

the shaheed singh told Bhai Rama Singh Ji that the khalsa of today is not the true khalsa and that the next generation (i assume from the year 2000+?), will be the true khalsa, he also said that there is a "dark cloud" over punjab and that the harvest of sin will be first reaped by Punjab then by india. he also said that the whole country will suffer as a result of the cruelty of amritsar If you guys look at punjab now, it is slowly getting worse, other states are taking water and many many more other things are happening, so why complain, wait untill punjab has harvested the sins and then wait a little longer for india to harvest the sins as well (they want…

Depression 1 2
by kcmidlands- 11 replies

I've been debating whether to post this, i saw nothing about it posted so i though I'd share. On Thursday evening there was a post on Twitter (to begin with) about a young Singh who had gone missing, he left a lengthy note on an Instagram post, it was pretty intense reading as it turned out he's been suffering from depression for a number of years and not told anyone, i followed it through the evening as more and more people started looking from him, i did Ardaas before going to bed that he would be found and that he would find help in whatever he was going through, I thought, like the majority of these cases I'd wake up and he would have been found. Into the mo…
