im amritdhari sikh (bibi) last night i had a dream, i had removed all my kes from my head, became bold (just like how a patient removes all their kes before a head surgery), but it wasnt for fashion purpose, it was weird, hard to explain i was just bold ... i remember looking at my self in the mirror and it felt so real... later in the dream i realised i commited a big sin and i was guilty, a feeling worse than killing someone probably but then i tied my keski back on and pretended that i had kes underneath so that ppl wont notice... i began to cry in the dream i looked @ my self in the mirror, and after a few hours i removed my keski and my kes grew back (just like ho…

Sat Sri Akal ji I am 32 years old, well qualified and with a good professional future. My parents had been searching for quite a while for a suitable match groom for me, but due to some reason or the other I couldn't see any of those prospective grooms as my future husband. I prayed to waheguru every day to find the perfect match for me. I did Sehaj Path, woke up at Amrit vela, did mool mantra jaap, went to gurudwara sahib every day. In the meantime this whole finding a groom thing was turning into utter torture for me. Then finally about two years ago It seemed Akal Purkh had answered my prayers. Our parents exchanged our numbers and we started talking. This person w…

vaheguroo ji ka khalsa vaheguroo ji ki fateh saadh sangat jeeo, when I took amrit, I was told to wash my hair daily, atleast with water everyday if not shampoo…I want to know, should one wait for the kes to dry, or just rub them hard enough and tie keski over them even if they are mildly wet? Also I m not able to keep rehit properly, like amritvela, nitnem, naam simran, bibek, etc. and also I m always under attack by kaam and krodh… I also tie my beard at certain times…I intend to re-take amrit in future and follow it in a much better way when I m financially independent…I know I should be regular and strict in amritvela, and also I am not able to keep proper bibek as o…

Does anyone watch the Yoga Programme 7-8 everyday on Aastha Television? Some Swami Ramdev? Well since my mum found out about this channel from her gujerati friend my mums adicted to the Yoga Programme, but apparently he isn't a good man. I don't like my mum watching this as she's kind of changed her views saying how the man is speaking the truth and now it's turned real bad to the extent that she wants to go and meet this so called Swami thing. This is causing a little family problems too, and Sangat Ji I dont know what to do cause she thinks he can sort her Arthritis out. When me or my dad advice her just to see the local doctor she's not seeming to listen. Before …

What Do Punjab Sikhs Think Of White Converts 1 2 3
by Guest Steven Joe- 21 replies

What do Sikhs who are ethnically and culturally Sikh think of white converts or white people who want to convert? I am half white and half Japanese, I am interested in the Sikh religion and I want to visit a Gudwara in the United states but I don't know any Sikh people and I am afraid I would be unwelcome or that I wont understand what goes on at the Gudwara if I don't speak Punjabi. Please be honest with your answer, I know the religion teaches peace and acceptance but so does Buddhism and I got many stares while in Japan going to Buddhist meetings and temples. If you have an experience meeting a convert please tell me your thoughts about it and what others around them s…

What do the numbers mean in gurbani?
by Guest Din Bahir- 3 replies
- 1.6k views
I recently welcomed The Guru Granth Sahib in to my home and began reading this translation (chahail). There are the numbers 1,2,3,4,5 and some like 4.4, 5.2 found before sentences. I never read The Guru myself so I am quite unaware as to what these numbers mean. Are they to denote the chords on an instrument or pitches of the voice? Can anyone help? Thank you!
