What Do Punjab Sikhs Think Of White Converts 1 2 3
by Guest Steven Joe- 21 replies

What do Sikhs who are ethnically and culturally Sikh think of white converts or white people who want to convert? I am half white and half Japanese, I am interested in the Sikh religion and I want to visit a Gudwara in the United states but I don't know any Sikh people and I am afraid I would be unwelcome or that I wont understand what goes on at the Gudwara if I don't speak Punjabi. Please be honest with your answer, I know the religion teaches peace and acceptance but so does Buddhism and I got many stares while in Japan going to Buddhist meetings and temples. If you have an experience meeting a convert please tell me your thoughts about it and what others around them s…

I know I should be patient but how…

What Is Wrong With Sikhs/muslims In Uk? 1 2 3
by Guest Canadian Sikh- 26 replies

I am a Sikh born and raised in Canada. A lot of my good friends are Muslim, and I've never had a problem with any of them. So it was really surprising for me to hear that the Sikh and Muslim communities in the UK do not get on well at all. Why is this? In Canada, we hang out together, listen to Punjabi music together and respect one another. Instead of being divided among religious lines, we are united by our common "desiness" i.e. our cultures are really similar/the same, eat the same food, same language (or very similar), same music etc... And I have heard people say that it is because Muslims vastly outnumber Sikhs in the UK and so have now turned on them, but the trut…

Waheguru Ji ka khalsa, Waheguru Ji ki fateh! I know this topic has often been discussed, however, in most cases (what I have found, when I did some research on in the internet) this ends up with offending each other and that whole stuff. I am not into that... I really WANT YOUR OPINION, please ! We have got freedom of speech, right? Firstly (just before someone asks): I absolutely believe in God. I believe, that our SGGS is our Lord-Guru. I try to obey SGGS. I believe in reincarnation, the messenger of Death, the rightouess judge of dharma and everything which is mentioned in the SGGS. I have often thought about this question: Does our GuruJi SGGS allow …

WJKK WJKF I am already engaged but I am taking amrit before my wedding next spring, my spouse will take amrit later as she is not at the this stage yet. My question is can we eat eachothers Jhoot once we are married (after Anand Karaj in front of SGGS)? Not asking if we can get married, just asking if we can eat each others jhoot... cuz punjabi culture has wedding ceremonies were couple eats in same plate... I mean if we are going to have a physical relationship, what is wrong with jhoot? Bhul Chuk Maaf. Guru Ang Sang

Severe Ocd (Bad Unwanted Thoughts) 1 2 3 4
by Guest stuckinadoorway- 31 replies

I have relentless OCD. I have it in the Gurdwara even more sometimes. The thoughts are blasphemous and sexual and sometimes a mixture of both. I have been advised to go to the Gurdwara at amrtivela and do simran. I try but sometimes my OCD gets worse when I am in the Gurdwara and I feel worse off then if I hadn't had gone altogether. My mind then tells me I am being punished for my thoughts and that I am unwelcome in the Gurdwara. I have been like this for years but recently it has become worse. I have had CBT from a psychologist but it did not work and I am on SSRIs which help a bit but not completely. I really don't know why I have to go through this. Maybe I s…

im 22, 23 in may. not married and ive never been with a women i.e. kissed etc........maybe due to the fact i used to be clinically obese and had bad teeth....since then ive lost 7 and half stone (100 pounds) and got my teeth straigtened up.any way now im soley concentrating on becoming a lawyer so i havent got time for a relationship and its likely i will be a virgin until i get married.........what i wanted to know was whether a woman would get put off or laugh at me if she found out i was a very and had no experience (not even kissed ever). would a women want to get married to a guy like me....i would like female opinions only.
