BJP trying to have blacklisted Sikhs back YUDHVIR RANA TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ MONDAY, JANUARY 19, 2004 11:18:25 PM ] AMRITSAR : If the efforts of the BJP’s NRI cell bears fruit, hundreds of blacklisted Sikhs living in foreign countries could join their families in India in the near future. The cell has observed that the mood among blacklisted Sikhs living in UK and other foreign countries was nostalgic and it was high time they returned. Rulda Singh, general secretary of the cell, after his return from UK , told TNN on Sunday that he held several rounds of meetings with blacklisted Sikhs and different pro-Khalistan and moderate Sikh organisations. ‘‘Their sentiments…

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/article...show/428193.cms 'Violent militancy imposed on Sikhs' TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ SATURDAY, JANUARY 17, 2004 12:41:54 AM ] AMRITSAR : Tracing the history of Punjab politics, international political scholar Prof Paul Wallace of the University of Columbia, USA, stressed that the militancy had been the running thread in the Sikh community’s working. But in most of the situations, he said it had been non-violent militancy having positive features, particularly with theological fervour. The recent reference point was the Emergency Morcha of 1975 but the violent militancy was not natural to the Sikhs. It was imposed upon them by the exter…

UK Sikhs to protest French ban RASHMEE Z AHMED TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ SATURDAY, JANUARY 17, 2004 02:29:38 AM ] LONDON : Hundreds of British Sikhs will take to the streets of the British capital on Saturday, alongside Muslims and Jews, in Europe ’s first inter-faith public campaign against a controversial French law. The law, which will be put to the French Parliament next month and take effect later this year, makes it illegal to wear Sikh turbans, Muslim hijabs or Jewish yarmulkes to school. Outsize crucifixes are a nono as well. The Sikhs, just 7,000 and counting in France , are the smallest minority affected by the proposed ban, but their Europe-wide campaign h…

French Sikhs Defend Their Turbans and Find Their Voice By ELAINE SCIOLINO http://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/12/internat...ope/12FRAN.html OBIGNY, France, Jan. 7 — No one, it seems, thought about the Sikhs and their turbans. As part of a struggle to separate religion from the state, France is poised to pass a law banning religious symbols like Muslim veils, Jewish skullcaps and large Christian crosses from public schools. But a report by an official commission of experts and a speech by President Jacques Chirac last month recommending passage of a legal ban said nothing about the head coverings worn by Sikhs. After all, France is home to only several thousand Sikhs, …

Gurfateh, I was wondering for those of you who tie your dharis, how do you do so? What type of hairspray/gel do you use? And also, aren't aerosols pretty unhealthy if you put hair spray in your dhari everyday? Any time I try putting in hair spray I can't stand the smell, and also it starts flaking a lot... Any answers would be appreciated :ww::

I don't know what to reply.. sangat views? i know there my fault in it too.. @ .. im not scared.. but i don't know what makes that person to go ticked off ? --- Dear Vicky Singh: RE: UNAUTHORIZED USE OF PHOTOGRAPH AND CLAIM TO COPYRIGHT I refer to your newly revamped website which I saw with interest. I noticed while perusing the site that one of the photographs that you have used without my consent or any accompanying credits was taken by me at the last Nagar Kirtan in Abbotsford, B.C. What I found most intriguing was your claim to copyright by the insertion of the following "Copyright ©2004 Vicky Singh" at the bottom of the page. The picture in questio…
