  1. Just want to share an incident where a Hindi movie changed a person's life......a very close relative of mine used to drink a lot in his 30-40s,,,,once he was watching some movie, where Pran was getting drunk, and there was another person getting drunk beside him, all of sudden a guy came and indulge in fighting with the man besides Pran, and Pran asked the bar-tender why are they fighting, he replied that these are father and son, one of them will come early here and the other one will start fighting,,this was their everyday thing....Pran threw the bottle and thought his son will do the same and quit drinking....... this was the scene when this relative was taken in and he quit the drinking forever and today he's very polite amritdhari nitnemi Singh.........

  2. all those ppl crying bowt this legitimacy of this thread, get a life guys, come on wats wrong with watching films, not all r dirty or full of rubbish messages. Some films, like American History X and Higher Learning, have an amazing message 2 em, and have fantastic quotes that ppl make in reference 2 past poets and political leaders. even movies like 'Boyz N Tha Hood' have a message about how black ppl r being made 2 kill themselves within their own neighbourhoods. Lawerence Fishbourne made a sensational statement in that film by saying how "its funny how in all the black neighbourhoods theres a liquor shop and gun/rifle shop on every single corner, yet u go 2 beverly hills (white ppl area) n u dont c that there? WHY because they want us 2 kill ourselves! " This tactic deliberatly used by the american govt, is now being used by the indian govt, where tekkha shops r on every corner (govt owned shops btw) and alcohol is given in return for loyalty votes during elections, YET u go 2 gujarat, where there is an alcohol ban in the entire state. I wouldnt have noticed this in my younger days, had i not seen the 'Boyz N Tha Hood' film. Im not solely blaming indian/badal govt for alcohol, but if u keep flashing it in ppl's faces, sooner or later ppl r gonna give in.

  3. Well personally speaking, for someone has never frequented a club or a pub, or hung around on street corners with friends, or gossiped with peers in langar halls and ogled my supposed sisters, basically followed the rules since day one, etc, etc., I've been an avid watcher of films since a young age. Bollywood has never been on the agenda --- those films I do despise. I've never watched any gandh intentionally --- any salacious scene that does appear I forward until it is over, but I try my best to avoid those kind of films. Maybe as I walk this path the desire to watch ANY kind of film will diminish, but I resent being made to feel guilty about something that I don't feel is wrong or has done me any damage. Instead I feel these films have fired my imagination and helped me learn things I would otherwise not have realised. Whether that makes me sheltered, gullible or plain sad then I really don't know.

  4. Really Cisco_Singh? You think that there's no such conspiracies like that? I mean... what planet you living on? Sant Baba Ranjit Singh is the biggest parchaarak of the modern age since Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Jee. I remember the days when Saadh Baba Maan Singh used to be so huge... but this guy even tops his popularity tenfold. I'm not Baba Ranjit Singh fanatic, but speak to the right people, the honest people, and they will tell you the extent of conspiracies. I personally think in this case, it's not a conspiracy but that is not to say that it isn't possible or that it doesn't happen.

  5. I agree. Whilst the government has its nefarious policies, they also aren't going around pouring alcohol down the throats of those who consume it. A large proportion of the blame lies with those who cannot stop drinking.

  7. Notice how Sant Ji said, "be cautious about what you watch". Not, stop watching them altogether.

  8. Sorry went of subject, people have got too much time in their hands, little opportunity to something productive other then farm labour and images promoted by idi0ts like jazzy b/lehmber don't help - let's start by boycotting them and shaming them!

  9. I think its a cop out to keep blaming govt for state of Punjab.. Indian sarkar were numpties goin back forever.. the greedy/passive/tribal Sikhs/leadership is more to blame imo.. Rajoana issue could have made a difference if sikhs had the media/leaders to take advantage, y aren't the leaders give us actions ?? One two weeks of demanding rajoana is installed as jathedar n that's it?? Our babeh need to get their asses off the fence n start being proactive in anti corruption movements.. how about we have a whip round and outbid Badal and get dhuma on the payroll!

  10. No it is not taking you to hell. Unless you are watching the wrong movies. you are branding all movies as unhealthy, whereas many people learn many things from them. And even if they dont learn anything positive from them, it doesnt mean thay have picked up anything unhealthy either. And Sant Ji is talking correctly about "romance" scenes in hindi films, and how hindi films paint an unrealistc portrayal of adult life. But this is not about every film. You know how many black people turned to Islam in USA/UK after watching Malcolm X? How many Scots became supporters of SNP after watching Braveheart? How many Kazakhstanis began to treat their women properly after watching Borat, Cultural learnings of USA?

  13. 1. Reality is this:- In olden times, when there were no wispers or Pads(for Periods), Women used to keep a plain cotten cloth or sometimes nothing; Which leads to No suchmata. Now, due to Lifestyle advancement, WOmen are keeping cleaniness and are using pads too; which keeps the situation undercontrol. so, even today there are many women(SIkhs) who go to gurudwara and do Naam jaap but donot do any seva when they are Menstruating. There is even one sakhi in suraj Parkas Granth(read it long back...could not remember the exact details) where One Woman was not allowed to enter in Maharaj ji's Room bcz She was menstruating.

  17. One day during a ride, the Guru halted and knocked at the door of a poor woman and said,"Good lady, I am very hungry, bring me the bread you have prepared." The woman, throbbing with joy, brought out some coarse bread which he partook on horseback, without washing his hands, and relished it very much. He then blessed the woman and cut off the shackles of her transmigration. Next day the Sikhs prepared dainty dishes with great attention to cleanliness and offered them to the Guru at the same hour. He laughed and said,"O Sikhs, I ate food from that woman's hands because she was holy. This food which you have prepared with attention to ancient ceremonial is not pleasing to me." The Sikhs asked,"O true king, yesterday you ate bread on horseback from the hands of an old woman whom you did not know. There was no consecrated space and the food was in every way impure. Today we have prepared the food for you; no impurity is attached to it, yet you reject it. Be kind enough to explain the reason." The Guru replied," The woman with great devotion and faith prepared food for me out of what she had earned from the sweat of her brow. On this account the food was very pure, and I partook of it. The Guru is hungry for love and not for dainty dishes. In the matter of love for God, no rule is recognized. It is not what man eats that pleases God, it is man's devotion that is acceptable to Him."
