  1. I must admit, the nature of some of the posts I am reading on sikhsangat.com and some facebook postings I have come across post-Swindon do suggest the above. I am surprised why the mods on sikhsangat have allowed some of the postings on the recent threads mocking race and ethnic origin. Also the continuous demonisation of the family from Swindon is now turning into nothing more than cyber-bullying. I stand strong on safeguarding the maryada of the Anand Karaj but draw the line on these immature racial slurs. Mods need to act quicker and recognise when a post is openly racist or mocking an individual group of people.

  2. Harpreet1 your comments are daft to put it nicely. As for going gurdwara sahib whilst on period; long as singhnee in question feels comfortable and able to go (this time can be painful) then it shouldn't matter to anyone else. Going gurdwara sahib is a personal connect between a person and mahraji so no one else should matter. Some of the comments make a period sound like a disease or something; its natural. God gave women periods for a reason as everything last thing happens for a reason.

  5. People worry a lot about marriage and so remove their hair. Many domt get married till much later. I know attractive people who didnt get marriec till 30. So dont assume hat hair is preventing your marriage, it just may not be time yet. Also, oue partner is written in our karam, regardless of whether we have facial hair.or not

  6. Its been ages since i listen to the voice of Giani Gurbachan Singh....however Gyan is infinite but the individual knows what he has to do and its down to getting it done thats what counts. Guru Nanak Dev Ji states this in Asa Ki // - par par gadee ladhiyeh

  7. Because of punjabiyat, we could never have our own intelligence agency or secular/successful democratic country. Wait a minute, i m just trying to picture how our intelligence agency will look like- board of directors, employee all sound and fine, but when it comes to kick start- people in intelligence agency will run around like chickens with their head off fighting amongst themselves on policy of intelligence agency itself rather than focusing on outside projects!!!!!!!!!!!!! And when it comes to running secular/successful democratic country, we won't even shake hands with diplomats of other countries, take part in dinner because of suchamta..lol sorry above may be exaggeration but had to put it out there..!! lol

  8. And ironically we proudly tell non-Sikhs the stories of diverse equality when in 1699 a khatri from Lahore, jat from Hastinapur, tailor from Dwarka, water carrier from Jaganath Puri and barber from Bidar initiated the Khalsa Nation. But behind closed doors, after over 300 years, we are still disgusted with one another because of our ethnic, caste or national origins...

  9. If we think about punjabiyat culture itself is quite racist to begin with..racism in punjabiyaat culture definitely has the influence from hindu caste system. Punjabiyaat culture have shoved Gurmat into small close end tunnel by superimposing its own view on Sikhi...you will see its effect not on a large scale but its still there in the panth but more evidently so for eg- singh sabha gurdwaras full of jatts- non jatt cannot be member in the committe, ramgharia gurdwara- same stuff, ravidas gurdwaras- same stuff, jatha engaing in karam kaand rituals and discrimating like pandits, discrimation within mahant system- udasi, nirmale, nihangs jathedaris- seperate amrit for mazhbhi sikhs, during amrit sanchar if muslim wants to convert to khalsa panth they have to bury him under sand to purify his "tats" also have muslims eat pork before converting..may be during those times make sense- precaution against inflitration but making it into permanent maryada and hold any value at this current age is going against gurmat.

  13. A small attempt at translating the above sakhi: ----- Guru Arjan Dev Ji was 18 years when he was given Gurgaddi. From far and wide sangat left their homes to have darshan of Guru Sahib. Sangat from Kabul also left their homes for darshan. Every evening they would rest and next morning they would do ardas and continue with their journey. They decided that on reaching Darbar Sahib, first they would go for darshan and then eat parshade. It had become very dark by the time the sangat reached Gurudwara Peepli Sahib( which is made in remembrance of Guru Arjan Dev Ji). They thought that now it would be impossible to have darshan of Guru Sahib. So thenthey decided to rest there without eating anything (as they had decided not to until they have darshan). Meanwhile, Guru Arjan Dev Ji went to the palace and called out to Mata Ganga Ji, “Ganga Ji parshada tyaar karo ”. Mata Ji replied, “Gareeb Niwaj hukum deyo jinneya da vi parshada tyaar karna hai mai hune tyaar karva dendi ha ”. Sache Patshaah Ji said, “Nahi Ganga Ji aj sanu Guru Nanak de bacheya di sewa da sunehra mauka mileya hai. Aj sewa tussi aap karo.” Mata Ganga Ji then prepared the parshade herself. Guru Sahib and Mata Ji then walked carrying the parshade with them, to where the sangat were resting. On reaching there, Guru Sahib called, “Jathedar Sahib Guru da langar aeya hai.” Old men, women and children lay empty stomach. On hearing about Guru da langar they all woke up. On having langar they were all satisfied. As they were very tired, one elderly sangat lay down and began pressing his own feet. On seeing this Guru Sahib Ji went to him and with folded hands requested him "Baba Ji menu eh sewa bakhsh deo". Then Guru Sahib began doing the sewa of the old man himself. All night he kept doing the sewa of the sangata. Next morning the sangat did ardas and began walking towards Harmandir Sahib and kept reciting shabads on the way. Guru Sahib Ji also walked along with them. On reaching Harmandar Sahib, the sangat removed their shoes and put them aside with their belongings. Jathedar Sahib asked one of the sangat to take care of the shoes. The sangat with folded hands said “Jathedar Sahib, kinne din ho gae hann chale paaeya nu. Menu Guru Nanak de darshan to kio vaanjha karde ho.” Then Guru Arjan Dev Ji stood with his hazuriya and with folded hands requested the Jathedar Ji, “Eh sewa iss gareeb nu bakhash deo”. He was very happy and allowed Guru Sahib to take care of the joreh and walked ahead with the sangat. On going inside, they noticed that Guru Sahib Ji was not at His aasan. They went to ask Baba Budha Ji, “Sahib kithey hann?”. Baba Ji replied “ Kabul to sangat turi si, unna vaste kal parshade laeke gae hann par aje takk parte nahi hann”. Jathedar Ji then replied, “Kabul di sangat ta assi ha. Kal ik gabhru ja aaeya si. Usde naal usdi gharwali vi si te oh sade vaste parshada vi laeke aae si. “ Baba Ji then asked where have you left them and come? Jathedar Ji replied “Ji joreya di raakhi vaste”. Baba Budha Ji got up and sangat went along with him. And then they see that Panjve Patshaah Guru Arjan Dev Ji is doing the sewa of sangat’s joreh. With such love and devotion was Guru Sahib doing sewa that He never noticed when they came. Baba Budha Ji and all the sangat began crying profusely and asked “Sache Paatshah eh tussi ki kar rahe ho?” Guru Arjan Dev Ji had deep respect for Baba Budha Ji and answered, “Baba Budha Ji menu Guru Nanak de bacheya di sewa karan to na roko. Menu inna de jore saaf karan to na roko. “ The sangat began crying even more.. Jis Guru Nanak de darshan karan vaste ture si. Jisde charna di chuh prapat karni si. Jisde charana di dhur mastak te laeni si. Aj ki dekh rahe hann ki uh Guru Nanak sade jore saaf kar rahe hann. Oh saari raat sadi sewa karda reha hai. The sangat kept crying and wondering who our Guru Nanak is.. who’s very roop is all humility and gareebi...Today he is blessing us with the data of nirmarta and gareebi..

  17. But he was only united with them when they were fighting for Sikh rights....this is the point. The morcha at that time was huge and was bringing India to its' knees. It was a fight for Sikh political, economic and religious rights. If we compare it with today, Badal group has turned its' back on all of the morchas of the past and is doing NOTHING for Sikhs. He has lied to us time and time again. This being the case, it is disappointing to see Harnam Singh Dhuma/Jasbir Singh Rode/Sant Samaj joining with Badal. It's no good them saying they are doing it for the Panth when NOTHING is being achieved through this alliance except Sikhi is finishing from Punjab.

  18. No doubt, in years to come we will look back at these kinds of protests and recognise them as a series of morchay to uphold Rehit Maryada...but in the meantime it's a damage limitation exercise and like all protests the aftermath needs to be handled properly. Now is the time to contact the likes of Sikh Council UK and other appointed national Sikh bodies to represent at a senior level what the Sikh stand on the Anand Karaj as per Sikh Rehit Maryada. As you can see from the lazy reporting in the mainstream media there has been no consultation with any official Sikh body. If this was a Jewish, Christian or Muslim story then the media would have consulted the senior representatives of those faiths. Sikh Rehit Maryada was paramount in defining us as a distinct ethnic group (Mandla V Dowell-Lee 1982) in House of Lords, our elders were able to discuss this articulately with the British elite. Rehit Maryada is something not to be ashamed of discussing, so the silent self appointed leaders of the UK Sikh Community need to get out of the shadows and represent Sikh Maryada in the mainstream in order to mitigate the accusations of racism and bigotry.

  19. Why on Earth is Havelock Road Gurdwara even letting a Sikh and 'Hindu' Matrimonial Service to take place. It's a Gurdwara for heavens sakes, why is it providing services for Hindus? No offence to Hindus but obviously by doing this, we are bound to have problems arise like this one.
