  2. Lets not beat about the bush all these discussions the UK Nangas are putting forward are to promote Brahmin practices in Sikhism. The Indian Brahmins since Guru Sahibs time have hated the Sikhs because of the Guru Sahibs challenge to them on their beliefs. After the Second Anglo Sikh war that ended in 1849 the Nihangs suffered heavy losses fighting for the Sikh state, after that they were closely monitored by the British to make sure they did not do anything against them and eventually ceased to be a threat to British rule. The Gurdwara reform process where Singhs laid down their lives in massive numbers in non violent ways to remove Brahmin Mahants from Gurdwaras, shocked the British and eventually forced them for the first time to yield to not only to Sikhs but any Indian. The organised Jathas of ordinary Sikhs united in their belief to rid their religion of Brahmin infiltration and British control was a triumph of Sikhs. The Sikh action spurred on others to oppose British rule, making a nonsense that some say that the Singh Sabha was British inspired. The SGPC was created to run Gurdwaras and prevent Mahants from returning again. Nehru and Gandhi were shocked at the power of the Sikhs and marked them as potential threats to them in the future. They set about weakening the SGPC and Akali Dal (run by proper Sikhs at the time) as soon as they got into power The SGPC could mobolise resources in large numbers as they did during the Punjabi Suba agitation, this infuriated Nehru and Indira and they set about trying to destroy it. The myths of Nihangs being the only true Sikhs was accelerated under their rule and they supported certain Nihangs, for example Santa Singh (Buddha Dal leader) working for Indira. This has continued today although the Indian Govt have established indirect control over the Akali Dal and SGPC and Sant Samaj.

  4. Actually Paaji, you're probably right. It's just that alot of what he says is so predictable and school boyish it lead me to under estimate his intelligence. Some of the stuff he says makes me cringe. I get the same feeling listening to Nihal as I do when I happen to catch an episode of Alan Patridge. Now there's an interview I'd pay really good money to watch, or even just hear.... an interview between Alan Patridge and Nihal. That would be hilarious!!!

  5. Paaji in the context of GURSIKHI I'm willing to listen and learn from anyone that works for the betterment of Guru Khalsa panth and advocates the eternal message of Siri Guru Granth Sahib maharaj, however I'm sorry but I'm not willing to learn or associate with those that have a dirty agenda (however unaware they like to pretent to be)... To all those that going and learning the martials from niddar but not taking in his warped messages, remember "if you lIe down with dogs, you will stand up with flees!!!!!" Bibi ji always told me "kuthay the poosh kaday nai sidthe houn the"

  6. Bhaaji, before discussing Nihangs let us be clear which Nihangs are talking about? the UK ones or the Indian ones? The uk nangs are as much Nihangs as me putting on a crown and claiming I'm the king of England. You may like to deny your link with Niddar or his ideology but your posts are 100% in agreement with him. In India the Nihangs don't have this us vs them mentality as the UK ones do. The Indian ones respect Sant Jee and consider him a great Sikh. The only Indian Nihangs that Sikhs have a problem with are the kind that are featured in the video in the 1st post of this thread. A true Nihang who lives the life of a Gursikh is always respected by all. A pretender Nihang will always be known as a Nang and will not get respect in this world nor the next. Anyway, if you don't consider me or the average Sikh your brother that's up to you. No one here is going to change your views if you are not even willing to think outside the box. Rab Rakha

  8. 1st and foremost I love all Sikhs including Nihungs (be only those that like Jonny paaji said that "only those who live by all the commands of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee can be regarded as beyond scrutiny").. So people like me do the fooling?? Are you for real?? Read all my previous posts and tell me where the lies are! I look forwarding to your findings! From your reply to Jonny's comment about being in the same boat I see that you definitely have an agenda! Even if it's subliminally delivered to you by some fake nang! after which you regurgitate those thoughts to others on forums but pass those ideas off as purataanical ;-) Let me also set something straight for you! My understanding of Sikhi starts is with Akaal purakh maharaj... It just happens to be that the message that Waheguru maharaj delivered to the world again and again was ignored that's where it was brought again it the form of Sikhi through Siri Guru Nanak Dev Ji maharaj and today resides with Siri Guru Granth Sahib maharaj today and forever more How dare you and your cronies disrespect the sacrifices made but Chardhi kala Gursikhs under the umbrella of the Singh Sabha movement... Also riddle me this! In all the sakhis of the Guru sahibans, Sahibzadas etc. that we're scalped, sat on hot plates, bricked alive, had garlands of their children hung round their necks where was the reference to bhang required to get through the pain?? You can deny your connection to nidarism but your rhetoric smacks of the the common tripe spouted in the uk these days!!

  9. You are not a bad Sikh! You care about your kids' Sikh upbringing. That is great! If your partner wants to become a Sikh, then that is also good news! It means you both are on the same page. A Sikh does not discriminate based on skin color, caste, or creed. It shouldn't matter what race she is. A Sikh is anyone who believes in the mool mantar and lives their life according to the teachings of the Gurus and the Guru Granth Sahib, with the end goal of realizing God and thus achieving liberation. Taking Amrit shows a dedication to this path, because you are essentially making a formal promise to the Guru.

  12. Source: http://www.punjabnew...9-sukhbir/56064 . Cancel Canada visit, NRIs ‘advise’ Sukhbir Monday, August 13, 2012 - 14:00 By Sukhpal Kaur CHANDIGARH: Following the recent incident of lawsuit against Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal by Sikhs for Justice and pro-Khalistanis, some NRI bodies have advised the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal to cancel his forthcoming visit to Canada. The lawsuit contends that Badal had shielded police officials who inflicted custodial torture and were responsible for the extra judicial killings and continuous human rights violations against the Sikh community in Punjab. It claims the federal court has jurisdiction under the Torture Victim Protection and Alien Tort laws. The lawsuit against Badal seeks jury trial, clearly indicates the anger of Sikh community for appointing tainted police officer Sumedh Singh Saini as Punjab DGP who is on trial for killing and abduction of innocents during militancy. Vikram JS Bajwa, President of Indian Overseas Congress, CA and Dr Rajwant Singh Dhillon, president of Punjab Canadian Foundation convened a joint meeting of the two organisations, senior members of Shiromani Akali Dal, Executives of gurdwaras in Vancouver, prominent NRIs to pay homage to those killed in Wisconsin Gurdwara shootout. In the meeting, the lawsuit filed by SFJ was discussed at length and it was resolved that Deputy CM should be advised to cancel his Canada visit. Deputy CM is scheduled to attend a conference to be organised by CIF in Vancouver in the month of September. The leaders have advised Sukhbir that instead of him the Punjab government should be represented bya senior IAS officer. The urged the Deputy CM to review his decision to visit Canada, keeping in mind the case filed against the Chief Minister in US. Petitions were regularly filed in US and Canada under torture laws, so Sukhbir can also come under scanner of Canada law. The joint statement said, “We have to advise the Indian leaders, irrespective of political affiliations, as our responsibility being NRIs to protect India’s interests and respect in the international community. All NRIs and their organisations have a responsibility to act as ambassadors of India.” It is pertinent to mention that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was denied visa by USA, on a similar petition filed by Muslim League. ****************************************************

  13. Bro, it's really unfortunate you think so narrowly. It seems your views have recently taken a drastic change. Please don't think of fellow Gursikhs as the enemy. We are all brothers of the same Dasam Pita and in the same boat. We are not separate like Sunni Shia divide. We all believe in the same Bani. Then why so much hate for fellow Sikhs? I used to love reading your posts but now your posts are taking a very Niddarist/Snaatanist ideological turn. Please review your thoughts using Bibek Budh in light of Gurbani rather than any particular ideology.

  14. Khalistani Gun Man Jee, Rajputs took Bhang during battle fine, but how much of that Bhang helped them in fighting the alert and drug free Pathaans and Turks who would massacre Rajputs and other Hindu warriors left and right? If one were to beleive that puraatan Singhs also took it, what is the justification of Nihangs taking it now? what battles are they fighting now that they need to take Bhang for no reason other than getting high? Today's nihangs have absolutely no justification for taking Bhang. Interestingly, the Marathas who did not have this tradition of taking Bhang during battle(like the Rajputs did) were the only Hindu group to successfully fight the Muslims(except for Panipat). Take the Singhs and Shaheeds during 84 who can be regarded as the true inheritors of the legacy of Puraatan Singhs. Did they need Bhang to numb their pain or to make them into fiercer fighters against the enemy? They only had the power of Naam & Bani and the unshakable Bhrossaa in Guru Jee to rely on rather than some worldly drug. I like Nihangs and I love their rehet. But only those who live by all the commands of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee can be regarded as beyond scrutiny. kabir bhang machli sura paan jo jo prani khahe, tirth varat nem kiye sabhe rasaathal jae kabir, one who consumes Bhang, fish or meat, no matter how many religious places he visits, how many fast he keeps, how much he prays, everything goes waste.
