  1. My uncle tells me that once his friend who is a Singh got into a fight when he was younger in India. He had a full beard. So when he got into a fight, the other guy pulled on his beard. In return the Singh literally bit his finger off his hand and spit it out. My uncle asked him why he did this, the Singh answered, "if he is going to play dirty by pulling on a Singh's beard then Im going to teach him a lesson he will never forget." I'm not saying this is what a Singh should do, but in a street fight, if a person pulls your beard and Dastar which for us is equivalent to a low blow, then dont hold back. Do anything you need to do to put him into a hospital even if that means taking your Sarbloh Kara over your knuckles breaking his nose with it.

  2. Sri Guru Ji, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj were at Anandpur Sahib. Singhs were building a Kila in preperation for war. Maharaj Ji walked past and some concrete spilt on Sri Guru ji's Chola by one particular Singh. Maharaj said slap him. All the Singhs that were with Maharaj slapped that one Singh for his mistake. Sri Guru said i ordered only one Singh to slap him not all of you. Singh's replied Guru Ji we obey your hukam. Sri Guru replied this Singh is very poor, and he worries that his daughter needs to be married away, as soon a possible. Is there any Singh that will take his daughters hand. None of the Singh's had the courage to say obey Guru Ji's order

  3. Sad thing is, the pervert staring problem is very huge among South Asians. They stare at women like they have never seen a woman in their entire lives.

  4. Its not harsh wat Turbanguyz has said but true. Beauty is within not on top. I remember at one of Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadriawales diwan he called a Singh and his Singhni on stage with their children. Nobody wanted to marry the her as she was blind, everybody kept marrying the nice looking 'normal' girls, and she was left and got older so was harder for her then too. Then one Singh came along and took the step to marry her, he was younger than her too, and looked after her too. God blessed them with children too. Everybody is beautiful, one just needs to see it in others.

  7. A few days back when i was at the gurdwara, the Giani Singh had been explaining two shabads, sitting at the gurdwara i felt i should recite these shabads daily. So i decided that i would 2 big maala's of these shabads everyday. Then down at the langar hall i changed to 2 small maalas! And on the way home i decided that i was only going to do 1 small maala of 1 shabad. :blush2: This reminded me of a saaki i had heard before which was about a gursikh who was climbing a tree to get some ripe fruit to eat. He was finding it difficult to get this fruit so in his mind he thought- "if i get to eat the fruit i will give a sant 100 loe-yan (man version of a shawl)." So as expected he ate the fruit which was at the top of the tree, on the way down his mind changed and he thought "i worked hard to climb the tree why should sant ji get 100 loe-yan, ill just give 50" Then on the way to the shop he thought "winters nearly gone, ill just buy 10 loe-yan" Eventually arriving at the shop his mind decieted him and he said "1 loe is enough!" After this he ran to the sant and into the darbar where the sant were doing katha and told them to "put the loe on straight away." The sant asked "why whats the hurry" and the man explained the whole story and said "im worried that if you dont take the loe now, in a few minutes my minds going to persuade me to take this 1 loe away aswell" :sprint: Basically the moral of this saaki, i feel, is that your mind is totally untrustworthy, ehda kuch pata ni kado change ho jana. So if you think of something good just do it straight away without thinking about it too much. Where as when you think of something bad keep thinking about it and avoid doing it, apne man nu samjao k "chad man'na kalnu karageh" :mellow2: Bhul chuk maaf ji

  8. Sikh and punjabi, do u even understand bulle shahs poetry or even know who he was? And y are u dividing others from punjabi culture, do u even know wat punjabi culture is? Agree with jeevancymro, and chatanga, why even ask to choose. One can be what they want without force. I quite like lakhwinder wadalis song, especially th latest song, not as it has man and woman in the video, but the depth it has been sung in, can be interpreted as singing to God. Everybody has their own way of singing Gods praises, I cannot choose one or the other, that isolating yourself from the world. If u don't like something don't listen to it or practise it. Bulle Shah gal tha mukdi, je main nu dil tho gwaiyeh

  10. Both. Religion Sikh, culture Panjabi. Both help form my identity on this earth. And who do you think you are asking us to choose? Or to accept that people want to use their cast names and look at other bigger issues in the panth.

  13. well, it's not a good idea to use the kirpan, especially if you live in the west because that can end up causing a lot of problems for all of us. Kara is good, especially if it's heavy sarbloh one. If you're in your car, it's always a good idea to keep a baseball bat too or one of those field hockey sticks.

  24. Respectfully wouldnt it be great if EVERYONE kept kesh? Wouldnt have to be a Sikh. Its natural...I know of no animal that shapes and shaves. Imagine a Lion without his crown. Do what is right for you. You will never please everyone but why should you care? Between you and your Guru. But a point to consider is your family. Maybe you should see if you are truly comfortable with this new path for longer than a month before diving into a whole new identity. If you find yourself back in Judaism it will prove difficult to yourself and those around you. Sikhi isnt about conversion and many sikhs will advise you to follow your own faith unless you are unable to do so. But of course its your journey.
