  2. In my observations, a lot of males will train individually or with a gym buddy particularly when you need someone to spot you. Females prefer group training, things like boot camp or circuit training. There are a growing number Sikh female personal trainers who offer these services.

  3. I've been under the assumption that A.I. (no matter how advanced) will always be hemmed-in by the parameters specified by the individual programming the A.I. A true A.I. will choose, in this example, to follow Sikhi - or not, as the case may be - like us humans. It must be a free choice IMO. Being programmed to be a Sikh and do everything we imagine the perfect Sikh to do is the true definition of parroting; incredibly convincing and life-like, but nothing but an imitation. Sure, on the surface, that particular artificial being could know SGGS Ji by heart, and does everything such a Sikh would do on a daily basis, but without a soul that originates from God, then to what end will all its efforts be? There's a novel by Kaguo Ishiguro called 'Never Let Me Go' that covers similar ground.

  5. I would say turn this on its head and make the gym and classes available for the bibian as a major push , because every tej deep and harinder is offered these type of facilities as a first priority and the women usually are left as an after thought. Even having football/gatka/ mma teams in a gurdwara league would be a positive move for the youth

  6. As cliché as it may sound, take each day as it comes. Only think about the day to come; don't let your mind run to the coming week, months, etc. You'll end up overwhelming yourself if you're fragile of mind at this time. Harsh truth: You must struggle. There is no other way aside from a lottery win, and seeing as most people don't win the lottery, you have no other alternative. There is the matter of faith and giving yourself up to His will totally, but I won't go into such things here, because you're responsible for young children, and it's a lot tougher to implement that stiff resolve when others, particularly children, are involved. Just know that God hasn't abandoned you or moved further away from you. You just have to find a way of getting closer to Him once again.

  7. Although this may not be a huge attraction, but I feel every Gurdwara in the west should have a small gym room for weight training and our youth/young men should be encouraged to get physically fit with strong arms and legs the way sons of Guru Gobind Singh jee should look. Along with this, gatka classes need to incorporate mma into their training.

  8. Time will attenuate the feelings you are having right now. You will eventually find the strength to carry on and move on with your life. If he is as bad as you say, count yourself lucky to have got rid of him. If you've got children focus on them instead; if not, count yourself lucky that you can make a clean break from him.

  9. Yep, he has done a runner with a gori yoga student. Obviously, the lost Sikh warrior couldn't control his 'kaam'. He has been faking his art and making it up as time went by. Changing the name of his art, numerous times. Writing a book in 1998 with no mention of sanatan shastar vidiya in it at all, according to him he had been learning the art since 1984 (read MAI September 2004 copy). Yet failed to call it that in his book, four years into his training. His teacher is Baba Mohinder Singh, yet at his akhara he has a picture of Baba Giana Singh as his gurdev. Babaji giana Singh has written a book on shastar vidiya with no mention of the term sanatan or hindu-sikh, so if he learnt the art from Baba Giana Singh Ji then where did he pick up those words. After all this is supposed to be the authentic art! The guy is a complete fraud and I hope his chele start to realise it now!

  10. punjab never was part of india. Punjab has always been a different civilization. Why do bengalis get their own country? Get to excel in their language religion etc? Sikhs wouldnt mind being part of india if you guys actually treated us as we should be treated, not to brainwash the mass into fighting their own e.g sikhs in the indian army 1984. Whats so wrong with sikhs having khalistan? Do we not deserve it after what we have done to save hindu women for centuries? Why not let sikhs practice their religion freely with their own government, with rules on who can migrate and not turn punjab into a hindu state. Why do you push hindi language on us? We dont want our future generations to take up hindi over punjabi, punjabi language has been in our blood for generations. This is why we dont wana be part of india and we will fight for our right to self determination. After all if you think sikhs are so loving, why not do a vote in punjab with sikhs and see how many want independence. Im taking about a fair vote with no corruption or force on people, let people think freely, after all india is a 'democracy' right? India use sikhs as puppets, theres 0 respect for them. Everyone knows without sikhs indian army would be nothing. Kashmir also had a muslim majority state, if india is so free, why not give them a referedum as well? So you see, india is still a hindu country and it is only going to get worse.. you see can the hindu fanticals rising in india right now, india is a ticking time bomb. if you are so against congress why dont you do something about it rather than seeing them kill sikhs that you love so much? Actions speak louder than words. And for everything islam can be peaceful. Look at nakana sahib in pakistan, its being looked after by pakistani muslims. No tanks have ever entered it and no mass killings have ever been done by muslim civilians, only taliban. Unlike delhi where hindu mobs rape girls and kill sikhs! ive never seen hindus respect sikhism as a belief on twitter, or apoligise for 84, or back kahlistan, ive only ever seen this from paki muslims. Why cant we have kahlistan i dont get it? If you love sikhs cant u let it prosper and grow freely away from congress and bjp gov?

  12. The question is then why does the Hindu value the Indian Muslim over the Sikh despite all the sacrifices that Sikhs have made. I guess the expression " Those that bites the hand that feeds them often lick the boots that kick them" comes into play with the Hindu mindset.

  13. Addressing social issues and welcoming monas is all very well, but these will be for nothing if they are not carried out IN ENGLISH. The reason attendance at our Gurdware is not as high as it should be is because contemporary Sikh parents and grandparents have failed in their duty to educate their children about Sikhi and their Punjabi mother tongue. And when the Gurdwara's primary method of disseminating information is linguistic, it's no wonder that so many don't want to go, why would they? This is the central issue here and it will not be addressed for as long as those old, irrelevant farts continue to clog up the committees and insist on using our Guru Ghars as battlefields for their petty squabbles (with no English subtitles for the kids). It would also help if our Granthis and Raagis could speak English, as people tend to go them with their questions. Kudos to Big Tera Veerji for taking steps to address this problem- as I sit behind a laptop mouthing off. The Sikh people, myself included, could benefit from feeling some shame. I'm going to try and do more in 2016.

  14. Our ancestors didn't get much right when they were compiling the great Punjabi code of ethics, but they were exactly right with this. Amidst the sexism, casteism and superstition, the prohibition against intra-surname marriage stands out as an example of their remarkable prescience. I mean, the basic biological fact that incest is bad still eludes over 1 billion Muslims across North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia to this day.
