  1. Yeah, I've seen these ads on channel 10. If I have time, I'll check the amazing race out, but I'm hoping they don't represent the bollywood stereotypical sikhs.

  3. Doing sewa of your in-laws comes with love, doing sewa of your own parents also comes with love. Many sons/daughters these days don't do sewa of their own parents because there is no love. To this day, there still are females who treat their in-laws just how they treat their own parents, doting around, doing things for them. Same with the guys. I've seen many. It all comes down to love, that mutual feeling. But it takes both sides. Some times in-laws can be horrible.

  8. I think many of us relate to this problem here and are trying to find solutions. Me myself, I am trying to keep a rehit with maharaj kirpa because I want to take amrit but schools gonna start soon (due to the virus it's delayed) and I am not sure if I will have enough time to manage myself. But, this thought doesn't really bother me much because I know guru maharaj definitely will work things out as always. I always leave it to maharaj's hukam though at times it's hard. Maharaj kirpa karan ?

  9. Not all. I'm still in highschool, but I know a decent amount of girls here that are in their 20s that will definetly marry an Amritdhari.

  12. Not entirely correct brother. Theres punjabi who haves got the taste of Sikhi so it's down to the individual and Gurus blessings. To say that Sikhi can only be understood in punjabi isnt correct and theres a benefit to not have the punjabi culture influence in some cases. Obviously theres a strong connection to that region and that will always be the case due to it ithaas. Yes Gurmukhi needs to be learnt and gurbani pronounced correctly to understand the message and also benefit from the kirtan and shabad vibrations. But Naam that resides in us is universal and is not restricting. Vaheguru is accessible to all. The Gurus light and love blessed all souls regardless of east , western, rich, poor, animals etc ??

  13. Thanks Bro for the encouragement. During the month of Maagh many saints encourage us to do simran, read gurbani, and lots of seva. Whilst they encourage this all year around during this Maaghi they would traditionally hold a month long Samagam of kirtan darbars or Akhand paths. ਮਾਘਿ ਮਜਨੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂਆ ਧੂੜੀ ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥ Maagh Majan Sang Saadhhooaa Dhhoorree Kar Eisanaan || In the month of Maagh, let your cleansing bath be the dust of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਨੋ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਨੁ ॥ Har Kaa Naam Dhhiaae Sun Sabhanaa No Kar Dhaan || Meditate and listen to the Name of the Lord, and give it to everyone. ਜਨਮ ਕਰਮ ਮਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਜਾਇ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥ Janam Karam Mal Outharai Man Thae Jaae Gumaan || In this way, the filth of lifetimes of karma shall be removed, and egotistical pride shall vanish from your mind. ਕਾਮਿ ਕਰੋਧਿ ਨ ਮੋਹੀਐ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਲੋਭੁ ਸੁਆਨੁ ॥ Kaam Karodhh N Moheeai Binasai Lobh Suaan || Sexual desire and anger shall not seduce you, and the dog of greed shall depart. ਸਚੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਜਹਾਨੁ ॥ Sachai Maarag Chaladhiaa Ousathath Karae Jehaan || Those who walk on the Path of Truth shall be praised throughout the world. ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਸਗਲ ਪੁੰਨ ਜੀਅ ਦਇਆ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥ Athasath Theerathh Sagal Punn Jeea Dhaeiaa Paravaan || Be kind to all beings-this is more meritorious than bathing at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage and the giving of charity. ਜਿਸਨੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਸੋਈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਨੁ ॥ Jis No Dhaevai Dhaeiaa Kar Soee Purakh Sujaan || That person, upon whom the Lord bestows His Mercy, is a wise person. ਜਿਨਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥ Jinaa Miliaa Prabh Aapanaa Naanak Thin Kurabaan || Nanak is a sacrifice to those who have merged with God. Maagh Suchae Sae Kaandteeahi Jin Pooraa Gur Miharavaan ||12|| In Maagh, they alone are known as true, unto whom the Perfect Guru is Merciful. ||12

  14. Was just watching a BOS video and bhai Jagraj Singh briefly narrated the story of how Sikhs during the time of Guru Arjan Dev Ji were digging at Amrtisar and as they kept on digging they discovered a meditating yogi underground. The Sikhs woke him up from his samadhi and he asked them if this is the age of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Sikhs said yes its the age of Guru Nanak Dev ji but Guru Ji has left and that Guru Ram Das Ji is here now. The yogi then took amrit from Guru Ram Das ji and passed away, got mukti. So the yogi had been meditating on Waheguru ji and waiting for Guru Nanak Dev Ji for 1000s of years and when he took amrit from Guru sahib he got mukti and left his body. This is the first time i heard this sakhi It is a beautiful sakhi anyone know more about it? I read how when Baba Deep Singh Ji met Guru Gobind Singh Ji someone from sangat said something like how young Baba ji is, Guru Gobind Singh ji then said that Baba Deep Singh Ji is not young and that he is 1000s and 1000s of years old and has been gone through life after life searching for him and that he has finally met him.

  16. Benti in the charan of Admin. Could this post be pinned. Many thanks. Vairag Shatak Raja Bharthari lived in Ujjain Nagar around two and a half thousand years ago. He was born in a high kul {lineage} who was a vidhwan pandit {scholar}. He was fair and just towards all his subjects and as such was much loved by all the parja {citizens}. His father’s name has been recorded in Rajavali as Raja Gandarbh Sann but mother’s name has been omitted and it is written that he was in fact born to a dasi {servant girl}. The raja had been married three or four times already but when he heard the kirti {praises} of a mahan sundar rajkumari {very beautiful princess}, he married her too. The name of this rani was Pingla. Her magical beauty and gunn {attributes} captivated the raja in such a way that he became her gulam {slave}. Just as the commands of Noor Jahan had a hold over Badshah Shah Jahan , this was the same scenario with raja Bharthari. Pingla feared none since the king Bharthari was under her “spell”. She wandered around sutantar {independently}, without fear, and as such fell in love with the astbal droga {stable master}. The rani had a devarr {husband’s younger brother}, who considered his elder brother raja Bharthari as a father figure and the rani as a mother. He obeyed their every order with utmost loyalty. The maharajah had given him the post of Pardan Mantri {Prime Minister}, the duties of which he carried out with great splendour. His name was Veer Vikramaditya, he is the same Mahapursh {great soul} who later came to be known as the famous Maharajah Bikramjit. The samat calendar is still used in his memory even today. Vikramditya was the first to have suspicions regarding the vibchar {adultery} of rani Pingla. After much deliberation he finally informed his brother raja of the misdeeds of rani Pingla. The raja was so besotted with Pingla that he took offence and as such reprimanded his own brother for saying such a thing. The raja went as far as to say that it is because you are my younger brother that I shall remain quiet otherwise I would have had you hanged. The raja considered his rani to be the supreme satti savitri {a lady who was the epitome of high moral character}. When Pingla found out about this confrontation she began to show even more love towards the raja. After some days she made a request to the raja, “your younger brother Vikramjit is like a son to me and I have always tried to be a mother to him but he looks at me in a lustful manner. Any other female would have succumbed to his advances by now! It is me who has evaded this terrible situation. He has made every attempt to defile me, and not only me, he has in fact destroyed the satt dharam {purity} of many women in this kingdom. It was only a few days ago that he attempted to lure the noh {daughter-in-law} of the Brahmin with the assistance of dootia {maids etc.} but she like me too is a pattibratta {faithful woman} and as such resisted his intentions. I implore you to stay alert and be very wary about such an adharmi {unscrupulous} man. I do not want you to be in any danger from him.” Upon hearing this the Maharajah took every word to be the utmost truth. Then rani Pingla called the Brahmin and said “are you aware that the Maharajah is is in my total control and if you desire your well being then follow my instructions to the full. Go to the Maharajah and make a pukar {plea}, if you don’t then I shall have you tortured!” The Brahmin knew that the raja was totally smitten by Pingla and as such would only take her word against any other. “I will obey your every command” replied the Brahmin to rani Pingla. Pingla told the Brahmin ”go to the raja’s court and make a faryad {plea}! and when he asks you what is the matter, you reply that kumar{prince} Bikramjit wants to engage in immorality with my noh {daughter-in-law} and if you are prepared to allow this than I shall leave your nagar {kingdom} and go elsewhere. I cannot stand by and allow my izatt {respect} and istri dharam {chaste} to be destroyed in this way.” “Also remember that you must not succumb to the raja in any way!” Upon hearing this the Brahmin went to see the Maharajah the very next day and cried his dilemma {which the rani taught him} with immense reality. The Maharajah filled with krodh {anger} upon hearing his words. Without padtal {investigation} the maharajah immediately ordered the des nikala {expulsion} of his younger brother from his kingdom. Bikramjit accepted his maharajah brother’s edict with love, patience, and without complain. He immediately went home and gathered his family and promptly left the kingdom. At the same time another situation occurred. One day a Brahmin arrived in the raj darbar {king’s court} and began to tell the raja that “twenty five years earlier I made a dridh sankulp {strict devotion} to do tapp {endurance} in order to appease the Devta {deity}, the devta gave me an Amar Phall {fruit that gives eternal life}. I have come here with that phall, my wife won’t eat it herself nor will she let me eat it. She says that we are poor and persistent poverty will be harder to manage. We only desire death now so that we may escape our hardships. If we eat the amar phall then we shan’t die and as a result will have to endure more hardship. That is why it is my wish that you take the amar phall so that you can continue to rule your kingdom in the most benevolent way and in return you can give us wealth which will eradicate our suffering.” Upon hearing this from the Pandit Rajah Bharthari he took the amar phall in exchange for an abundance of wealth, which pleased the Brahmin immensely. The rajah didn’t eat this fruit himself but gave it to his beloved rani Pingla. The rani thought that it would be deceitful of her to eat the fruit, so when the rajah left she summoned her lover and promptly gave him the fruit. The lover did not eat the fruit either but gave it instead to his favourite prostitute. The prostitute accepted the fruit but began to contemplate her lifestyle “I have sinned all my life, destroyed many marriages etc. If I eat this fruit and become amar {eternal} then this is all I will endure {lustful activities}. It is better that I give this fruit to the Maharajah instead, in whose raj he has given me so many pleasures.” After contemplating this with all sincerity she presented the fruit to the Maharajah. The maharajah was first stunned upon seeing the fruit but then asked the vesvah {lady of the night} where she had obtained this fruit from? Upon being interrogated by Bharthari the veshvah told the whole story truthfully “Your astbal droga {stable master} is my mitr {lover}, he gave it to me.” The raja immediately summoned the droga {stable master} and asked how he became in possession of the fruit? The drogra fell at the rajah’s feet and narrated the whole scenario of how he engaged in immorality with his rani Pingla. As soon as the Maharajah heard the whole story, he immediately filled with nafarat {hatred} of the rani and the world in general. He became fully vairag {total renunciation}. He immediately summoned the maha mantri {prime minister} and said; “look after this raj {kingdom} I am leaving. Bikramjit suffered pains owing to my decision to expel him. Call him back and place him on the throne.” As soon as he had given these instructions he immediately removed the robes that adorned his body. He covered his body with a solitary sheet as he left to join Gorakh. Maharajh Bharthari first wrote “Shingar Shatak” and during his reign wrote “Neeti Shatak” and after attaining vairag {renunciation} he wrote “Vairag Shatak” in which he describes the state of his mind. “Vairag Shatak” Granth was written in Brijj language by the great scholar Kavi Pandit Har Dyal Ji of Choonia Nagar. The Punjabi translation has been undertaken by Pandit Naryan Singh Gyani.

  18. SriGuruGranthSahib Maharajh is full of Bairaag; Gurbaani emphasises the need for detachment, whilst remaining a part of society. The Granth "Vairaag Shatak", or any other Granth will never be on a par with SGGS. Vairaag Shatak gives beautiful examples of the torment caused by over indulgence, and the extreme attachment to materialism. Rajah Bharthari became tyaghi, prior to Baba Nanak coming to earth; hence Bharthari's methods are not completely in line with Gurmat. The bottom line, however, is that Raja Bharthari's vairaag teaches one the signifance and bliss of tyagh; if we take the Granth in the context of Gurbani, then we can benefit from that tremendously. "Vairaag Shatak", amongst many other sanatan Granths have been studied, in conjunction with SGGS Ji, in all the puratan Taksals, and still do so today. Nothing can ever replace SGGS, but the study of sanatan Granths can expand on the teachings contained therein. If my translations have caused any offence, then I apologise unreservedly; my intention is not to replace SGGS, in any way, but to gain a deeper understanding of the philosophy contained within. Thank you for taking the time to point out the error of my ways; at my age, I should not be using this forum, since it is, after all "voice of the youth". A very big heartfelt thanks to the Sangat, and the Admin for allowing to share my views. Waheguru....

  19. The under lying message in Vairaag Shatak is Vairaag {renunciation}; Gurbani stresses the importance of Vairaag, in order to break free from Kaam/krodh/lobh/moh/ahankar. What made India a nation of cowards, was not Vairaag; the thing that made India a nation of sub-servients, was spiritual corruption, the attachment to materialism, and the distancing of folk from self discipline. This Granth teaches one the importance of Vairaag, and the need for self discipline etc. Rajah Bharthari used physical renunciation; becoming a beggar, in essence. Gurmat teaches us to work for a living; to help the needy too, in a charitable manner. The bottom line is VAIRAAG; if it can be learned from this Granth, there is no harm. Anything that distances us from Kaam/krodh/lobh/moh/ahankar, is definitely worth reading..... Waheguru....

  23. WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KE FATEH. Just wanted to say that I listened to the complete katha of SGGS by Gyani Takhur Singh Patiala(DDTaksaal). It is the most wonderful katha that I have ever heard. It covers the whole of SGGS but also explains the significance of Sri Dassam Granth in Gursikhi. I would urge everybody to listen to this complete katha which is available for free download from many Gursikhi websites but in particular from www.gurbaniupdesh.org After listening to this katha I now feel more confident in tackling the anti-panth preachers who seem to be on a mission to discredit the fundamental principles of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Sikhi! Thanks & regards. Mokham Singh. WJKWJF.

  24. Sunny_love_kirtan please excuse me if i am wrong but i thought this was a discussion forum so i decided to discuss what i thought was relevant. Yes i have heard the Vedant Katha of the initial Jap Ji Sahib and that is very good, all in line with the teeka written by Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji Bhindrawalae. I just wish that the katha continued in that way all the way through rather then just the initial Nitnem banis. I dont think i am breaking Sharda or being similar to a misiionary. I have just suggested that people listen to katha with deeper meanings to understand the Tat and Tvam of Gurbani which is the essential Mahavaak! I wont go ahead with doing katha as a gristhi i dont have time and the Sampardai have not supported it but thankfully the Sampardai and given be thapiya to write teekas and so far have released the first and the next ones are to come in accordance to adhyatic, vedant and antreev katha done by Mahapurkhs.

  25. '...he had continued reciting from in his sleep...' Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh The following is a short story translated from "Gurmukh Darshan" Author : Giani Kirpal Singh Ji This took place in 1927, when Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh jee Khalsa was 25years old. "In those days there werern't many sevadaars that could recite GurbaNee in Sri Akhand Paath Sahib correctly; these sevaadaars were rare. Due to this reason, our village's Nihung Singh Bhai Taara Singh jee, Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Jee and myself would be asked to fulfill the seva of Sri Akhand Paath sahib. Also worth noting, Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh jee were always found to be in a tranquil and worriless state of mood. Furthermore, Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh jee would never accept any monetary donations for fulfilling his duties as an Akhand Paath sevadaar. One time in Doaba, there was a Sri Akhand Paath sahib that had already commenced, Baba jee had completed the duty of Sri Akhand Paath seva at 4am and went to a nearby room and started reciting his Nitnem dee banee, while reading he fell asleep. From a nearby room, we heard a voice reciting Gurbanee out loud, out of curiosity myself and other singh's went to the voice. We found it was Baba Jee reciting Gurbanee in his sleep. We went and sat around him and we had listened to him do paath for a half hour in which time we noticed that he had started reading Gurbanee from Sri Akhand Paath sahib. He had left his sevaa for Sri Akhand Paath Sahib at "sorath raag" that is exactly where he had continued reciting from in his sleep. The other sevaadaars that were sitting there listening to him noticed that he had not made a single error in his recitation, we were all left amazed." Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

  27. The Gurmukh meditates on the Lord with every hair of his body. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh We were recently celebrating the life of Sant Baba Thakur Singh Jee. Baba Jee had the great fortune to spend twenty-two years of their life as Garvayee (close associate) with Sant Gyani Gurbachan Singh Jee Khalsa BhindranWale. I came across this story of Sant Gyani Gurbachan Singh Jee that I would like to share. Once Sant Jee went to a hospital in Ludhiana to see a physician due to their ill-health. This doctor had GurSikhi Saroop. He said to Sant Jee that you must be a very Chardikala Sant. There are many Singhs with you. Tell me some more about yourself. (Baba Jee always had a Jatha of at least 200 Singhs with them, whom they would teach Santhiya and Gurbani Katha, as per the traditions of Siri Guroo Gobind Singh Jee’s DamDami Taksaal. In those days, it was a travelling university, as Sant Jee went from village to village, doing Parchaar of GurMat). Sant Jee were a very humble person. They did not like it when anyone praised them – praise should only be of SatGuroo Siri Guroo Granth Sahib Jee. Sant Jee quickly changed the topic. I don’t know anything much. I am not really anyone. Can you tell me about yourself? This doctor said with some ego that I have had sangat of many prominent Sants and acknowledged souls. I have spent time particularly with Sant Attar Singh Jee Mastuana Wale. My Avasthaa is now that when I travel in my car, my soul automatically hears the sound of Waheguroo through the rhythm of the car engine. Sant Jee told him that he was particularly blessed to have this feeling and to have had the sangat of such prominent GurSikhs of the Khalsa Panth. Later on, as the doctor was carrying out the medical examination, he was using a stethoscope for the examination. To his astonishment, every time he pressed it against Sant Jee’s body, all he could detect was the constant resonance of Waheguroo. He did this against all of Sant Jee’s body, but all he could hear were the vibrations of Naam. The doctor fell at the feet of Sant Jee in shame. He was making proud statements about his own spirituality and associations with GurSikhs. However, the true GurSikh remained humble about his spirituality and his love for Waheguroo Jee. The doctor learned an important lesson. This episode also provided factual proof of the pankiti of GurBani: gurmuiK roim roim hir iDAwvY ] guramukh rom rom har dhhiaavai The Gurmukh meditates on the Lord with every hair of his body. The cynics may question how it is possible to remember Waheguroo with every hair of the body. But Gurbani is the truth sent to us by Akaal Purakh: Sant Gyani Gurbachan Singh Jee Khalsa BhindranWale showed its truth in practice. by Harkamal Singh Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

  29. Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale Respected Panthic diamond, treasure-trove of knowledge, Brahm Giani, complete in the practices of the Khalsa, Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Jee Khalsa Bhindra(n) Vale was born on Wednesday 12 February 1902 at Amrit Vela (Ambrosial Hours). After his birth he was bathed and taken to the Gurdwara into the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee, the Birth Ceremony was performed and Amrit was given to Sant Jee. Karah Parshad was prepared, Ardas performed and a Hukamnama taken. Sant Jee was named from the first letter of the Hukamnama, per Sikh tradition. His parents were devout Sikhs and due to the religious outlook of the household, from a young age Sant Jee started placing a Rumala over a stool and doing Chaur over it with peacock feathers as a child. In childhood he learnt the correct pronunciations of the following – Panj Granthi, 21 Vars, Bhagat Bani & Das Granthi, and memorised the 5 morning Nitnem Prayers. Upon listening to Kirtan, Sant jee’s spirit would get uplifted to some inexplicable inner spiritual state of enjoining at the feet of Satguru jee. Due to the guidance of his paternal uncle at the age of 7 years, Sant Jee was an Akhand Pathee of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. At the age of 13 years he also mastered the Sanskrit language, he read Ramayan, Mahabharat, Yoga Vishest and other Vedic Granths, after understanding and pondering on the teachings of these, Sant Jee read the Faridkoth Teeka of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee, authored by 52 Nirmala intellectuals, he gained much knowledge from this. But the spiritual taste/elixir he was searching for was not discovered. In 1920 Sant Sundar Singh Jee arrived at Village Akhare on their preaching tour, it was here upon meeting Sant Sundar Singh Jee that the young Sant Gurbachan Singh gained the inner peace that he was searching for. The Jaap/mediation of Vaheguru Gurmantar began intrinsically. By listening to the Katha and Kirtan of Sant Sundar Singh Jee, Sant Gurbachan Singh’s heart was finally filled with peace and bliss. It was at this point that he felt he should become a part of the Khalsa Panth and he took Amrit. He became such a true Khalsa that he made his life a continuous penance, such a blissful repetition of Simran began which he enjoyed to his last moments, a non-stop invigorating meditation. Mind, body and wealth were all sacrificed at the feet of the Guru. After seeing the Nanakana Sahib Shaheedi Episode: qnu mnu kwit kwit sBu ArpI ivic AgnI Awpu jlweI ]4] I would cut my mind and body into pieces, and offer them to You;I would burn myself in fire. ||4||(Ang 757) They imbued the spirit of this quote into their lifestyle. On the top floor of Sri Harimander Sahib (Amritsar) they meditated on Gurmantar and Moolmantar for 3 months. jqu pwhwrw DIrju suinAwru ] Let self-control be the furnace, and patience the goldsmith. (Ang 8) They attained the great living of the above quote and gained much spirituality through their meditations and prayers. In 1921 they went to Bindra Kala(n) Gurdwara and met the respected Sant Sundar Singh Jee and humbly asked for the blessing of Brahm Vidiya – Knowledge of God. As a jeweller can recognise the value of a gem, in the same manner Sant Sundar Singh Jee recognised the greatness of Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee at this young age (19), he embraced him with affection and kept a watchful eye upon him. He started to live in the Jatha on a permanent basis. Sant Gurbachan Singh jee started doping seva of Sangat and Sant Sundar Singh Jee, and were always praying to be accepted in the house of Guru Nanak. Daily he would rise at 1am, after doing ishnaan – they would do simran for 45 minutes. His daily duty was to do the ishnaan of the Gurdwara Sahib, to perform Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee’s Parkash and to recite Sri Japji Sahib and Sri Sukhmani Sahib and to start the Kirtan. He performed his duty with much affection, purity, dedication, commitment and discipline. He listened to Sant Sundar Singh Jee narrate the Katha of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee a total of 4 times and was educated in the following by Sant Jee – Bhai Gurdas Jee’s Vaars & Kabit Svayas, Bhai Nand Lal Jee’s writings, Sri Dasam Granth Sahib, Sri Guru Panth Parkash, Sri Gur Bilaas – 6th & 10th Guru and many other accepted writings. By reading, meditating, listening, accepting and practising Gurbani, the true mystical meanings of Gurbani were realised by him. He got educated in other faiths to further his knowledge, he studied Yoga Vedant, Panj Dasee, Moksh Panth & other Granths along with which he studied Sikh History. He read 125,000 Japji Sahib’s and performed 360,000 meditations of Mool Mantar and countless meditations of Vaheguru simran were performed during this period. In this manner, his mind was always attuned to Gurbani. At night whilst asleep he would even start uttering Gurbani in his sleep. His voice was very sweet, his pronunciation of Gurbani was always correct (Shudh), due to his immense love with Gurbani Sant Sundar Singh Jee appointed him his Paathi (reciter of Gurbani) for Katha. Khalsa Jee’s waking of Amrit Vela (1am in this case), daily recitals, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee’s seva and his joy and respect in performing this seva, sweet and gentle character, understanding of mystical meanings of Gurbani, his achievements and love of Sikh discipline, all these qualities are of the few Gurmukhs that have existed. When reciting Paath for Katha, Khalsa Jee would raise his living/spiritual experience to the stages being narrated. Sant Sundar Singh Jee narrated the complete Katha of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee at Boporai, Khalsa Jee was the Paathee throughout the Katha and on the day of the Bhog (close) of the Katha, he honoured Khalsa Jee (Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee) with a Siropa (robe of honour) and he said to the sangat, “With us (in the Jatha) we have countless Gurmukhs who have got educated, some have gone on to full-time employment, many have gone on to get entangled in the demands of a householders life (Grahist), but the teachings that were taught to me by Sant Bishan Singh Jee Murale Vale, it is only Khalsa Jee who has met all the teachings of Sant Bishan Singh Jee. Sant Bishan Singh Jee honoured me with many gifts and today I place all these gifts in the keep of Khalsa Jee. The Jathedari of Damdami Taksal started by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee is being given to Khalsa Jee – with this Siropa. On 15 February 1930 Sant Baba Sundar Singh Jee ascended to Sach Kand and Khalsa Jee stayed at Boporai and completed the Katha of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee 3 times and after about 3 and half years along with 16 lucky Gurmukhs they started doing Parchaar on a touring basis. Gurbani Kirtan, Katha, preaching, educating Singhs – making them astute in all aspects of Gurmat and initiating others into the Khalsa Panth were the foremost aims of Khalsa Jee. On many occasions they would walk many miles along with the Jatha Singhs. Punjab, Kashmir, Peshawar, Benares, Patna Sahib, Jagannath Puri, Rameshwaran, Sri Hazur Sahib, Calcutta, Bombay were all visited and Parchar done. In India there are only a few areas/cities where Khalsa Jee did not visit in their life, to grow the tree of the Sikh Nation and bless people with Amrit/initiation into the Khalsa Panth. Khalsa Jee’s dedication to Khalsa discipline and promotion of solely Gurmat was truly a heart-felt passion. Just as a lotus flower stays detached/floating along water, in the same manner Khalsa Jee was forever detached from Maya (worldly illusion). Thousands were initiated into the Sikh-fold being enlightened by Khalsa Jee, thousands were taught the correct pronunciations of Gurbani and countless Gianis were moulded. In literature Khalsa Jee has immensely contributed by writing various tracts/pothis about Gurbani and Sikh History and Sikh discipline. He did the construction seva of many Gurdwaras. His katha was so inspirational that if one heard it the once, they never forgot it and they would listen to it repeatedly to further their lifestyle to higher morality and spirituality. Whilst doing Katha/Kirtan Parchar – the Sangat invited him to Village Mehta, Khalsa Jee accepted the invite and went to Mehta. On 28 June 1961 at Mehta on Thursday at 2.10am their breathing started slowing down and whilst doing Vaheguru Simran, Khalsa Jee merged back into the light that he had come from (back to God). Taking Khalsa Jee to Amritsar Sahib water was taken from the Amrit Sarovar and Khalsa Jee’s ishnaan was performed outside the Gurdwara complex. According to Khalsa Jee’s wishes he’s body was cremated at Patalpuri – Sri Kiratpur Sahib. On three occasions prior to ascending to Sachkand, Khalsa Jee had commented on Sant Kartar Singh Jee becoming the next Jathedar of Damdami Taksal, Sant Kartar Singh Jee was a great scholar, a Gursikh, complete in Khalsa discipline, forever reciting Gurbani and of high morals and spirituality. All the Sikh world will forever be indebted to Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Jee Khalsa, who for the benefit of humanity, for approximately 40 years dedicated their life to Gurmat Parchar and gave thousands direction in improving their characters/lifestyle. However much we talk about their sacrifice, it is still little and we cannot express true gratitude or complete praise of their inexplicable seva. damdamitaksal.com

  30. Great Gurmukhi Jeevan Of Baba Khazaan Singh Jee (father of sant sunder singh jee) Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh For quite sometime I wanted to write the Gurmukhi jeevan of Baba Khazaan Singh, the father of Sant Sunder Singh Bhindranwalay (11th Jathedhar of Guru Ji's Damdami Taksal). Sant Sunder Singh jee Bhindranwaalay was a great Gursikh who led an exemplary life, did massive parchaar of Sikhi, inspired countless to take amrit and taught Gurbani and Gurbani meanings to countless students, in his short life of 42 years or so. While many have heard about the Gurmukhi life of Sant Sunder Singh jee, few are aware of how great his father was. This is a feeble attempt by this insect to write something on the great life of Baba Khazaan Singh jee. This is based on Dr Sher Singh's book on Sant Sunder Singh, Sant Gurbachan Singh's coverage of Sant Sunder Singh's life and oral narrations from Gursikhs from time to time. Baba Khazaan Singh was the middle son of Baba Makhan Singh the grandfather of Sant Sunder Singh jee. Here are some highlights of Baba jee's jeevan: 1) Baba jee was a simple farmer who worked hard to earn bread for his family. He was from village Bhinder Kalan in Ferozepur district of Punjab. 2) Baba jee was extremely honest. He never let even a grain not belonging to him, come to his home. While working in his fields, he used to constantly do Naam Simran and Gurbani paath. 3) He got married to a very Gurmukhi bibi Mata Taab Kaur jee. She was not educated but due to her husband's satsangat, she developed keen interest and love for Gurbani. 4) Baba jee had great urge to have darshan of Guru Sahib. In year 1887, a year before the birth of Sant Sunder Singh jee, at the time of Avtaar Purab of Siri Guru Nanak Dev jee, Baba jee decided to go all out for darshan of Guru Sahib. He committed to doing strict amritvela and doing one Siri Sukhmani Sahib standing on one leg, 3 hours and 45 minutes before sunrise. Just few days had passed while engaging in day night paath like this that Baba jee was hit with extreme Bairaag. He gave up all interest in world and started doing bhajan day and night. At the behest of some gursikhs, who asked him to come in Sehaj Avastha, he started taking care of his worldly duties again. 5) Before the birth of Sant Sunder Singh, Baba jee did 36 lakh (3.6 million) jaap of Mool Mantr. 6) Later in his life he did 125,000 jaap of Siri Jap jee Sahib. 7) Later in his years he did 101 Paaths of Siri Guru Granth Sahib jee in the span of 3 years. This means about 3 Sehaj paaths a month. Along with this he did 36 lakh paaths of Mool Mantr, all within 3 years. This means massive paath a day, for three years. 8) He used to do at least 100 angs worth of baani a day. 9) He used to do 3300 jaap of Mool Mantra a day. 10) He had about 100 angs of baani fully memorized. 11) He used to wear only Khaddar. 12) He was a very strict amritdhaari. 13) He never let a day pass without going to Gurdwara Sahib. 14) He used to eat only once a day at 10am. 15) Before eating food, he used to look for someone to share with. Reading the life of Baba jee, I was surprised. So much kamaayee and no one knows his name. I have no doubt that even today there are many gupt gursikhs out there about whom we know nothing. Hearing about kamaayee of Baba jee I feel like putting my nose in a chapnee and dying. May Guru Sahib do kirpa on us and may we lead our life like Baba jee and other great gursikhs. 31. JATHEDAR Sant Giani Sundar Singh Ji Bhandranwale Sri Maan (most honourable) Sant Giani Sundar Singh ji was born at amrit vela (ambrosial hours, 2am - 5am), village Bhindran Kalan, state Firozpur, in the year 1883. Their fathers name was Baba Khajaan Singh and their mothers name Bibi Mehtab Kaur. At the age of 6-7 years, his parents who practiced the path of Gursikhi, gave him the duty to milk the buffalos and cows. This was so they could learn and understand the teaching from Guru Ji: Gwil Kwie ikCu hQhu dyie ] One who works for what he eats, and gives some of what he has. (Ang 1245, Sri Guru Granth Sahib) Their father at the same time taught them the banis of: Panj Granthi, Baaee Vaaraa(n), Bhagat Bani, and Das Granthi. Around the age of 9-10 years they were taught how to read Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji correctly, and became an Akhand Paat(h)ee by the efforts of their father. It was at this time they joined the Khalsa Panth by taking Amrit from Panj Pyare. Until the age of 17 years they stayed at home learning the understanding of Gurbani and developing their practice of Sikhi. At the age of 18 Sant Giani Sundar Singh ji left home after doing an Ardas (supplication prayer) to Guru Ji for an improvement in their Sikhi and for increased understanding of Gurbani. After having the sangat (company) of many Gursikhs and spiritualists they came to the sangat of Baba Bishan Singh Ji at Murale. It was here where they gained the complete understanding of Gurbani (Brahm Gian), this being done within two years. Before Sant Bishan Singh Ji ascended to Sach Khand (Higher spiritual plane of nether world) they gave Sant Giani Sundar Singh Ji the chance to ask for anything they wanted, as they had spent their time at Murale doing selfless service. They replied without any ego, "it is up to you to decide" what you grace me with. Sant Bishan Singh Ji declared that they should for the rest of their life preach the word of Guru Ji, teach the sangat the meanings of Gurbani so they may join the path of the Khalsa. By doing this, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji and Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji would forever look over you, they added. On the 13th day in the month of Maagh, 1962 Bikramee, 1905 eesvee, Sant Bishan Singh Ji themselves tied the dastar of Damdami Taksal around the head of Sant Giani Sundar Singh Ji Bhindranwale. To make true the final words of Sant Bishan Singh Ji, they preached the word of Guru Ji, continuously touring around India. They guided people onto the path of the Khalsa helping them avoid the falsehoods in the world. Sant Giani Sundar Singh Ji would forever keep themselves in the remembrance of Guru Ji, and whenever they would do Katha they would bring peace to the listeners. One day while they were doing Gurbani Katha, by the grace of Guru Ji a miracle occurred, Amrit (nectar) started dripping from a corner of the 'chandoaa' (canopy). The sangat at the Gurdwara noticed this and one or two even tried the Amrit and experienced a great sweetness. To their students they made it known that as well as being efficient in understanding Gurbani and forever remembering Guru Ji, everybody should be efficient in Shastar vidiaa. They would say that each Sikh should be able to defend and protect the needy. They felt it was necessary that every Sikh should follow the command of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji of being true Saint-Soldiers. They did much to promote the 5 K's (Kes, Kacchera, Kirpan, Kanga, Kara) they stated that they are not merely uniform, but on the contrary they are there to develop our outer physical practice of Sikhi and our inner, thought processes. The wearing of the 5 K's is the command of the Guru, obeying this command many Sikhs have flourished in their Sikhi and will do so in the future. Even though they became quite ill to a long-term illness in 1929 AD, Sant Giani Sundar Singh Ji forever remained in high spirits. They continually remained in full concentration of Guru Ji at all times. They passed on the selfless service of continuing Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Damdami Taksal to one of their students Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji Khalsa. Within the command of Guru Ji, on 15th February 1930 AD, in the village of Boparai at Gurdwara Sachkhand, while listening to the kirtan of Asa Di // at around 8:15am they left the world for the charan of Guru Sahib. In their time they completed the Katha of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji 21 times. While completing their seva they had about 1300 students, of whom 1000 became Akhand Paat(h)ees, 200 became preachers, and 100 katha vaachiks. Sant ji paid for all the costs incurred by their students. Sant Giani Sundar Singh Ji spent all their life in the selfless service of the Khalsa Panth.

  32. Sant Baba Bishan Singh Murewale and Sant Baba Sundar Singh Ji's Dib Drishtee Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh One time Sri Maan Sant Baba Bishan Singh Ji Muralewale the 10th jathedhar of Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Taksal was walking and he came across one of his students Sant Baba Sundar Singh ji who was doing tapasaya in kapli asan (posture) Sant Ji’s head was on the floor towards the earth and his feet were high in the air cross legged. Sant Baba Bishan Singh Ji Muralewale asked Sant Baba Sundar Singh Ji, ‘what are you doing?’ Sant Baba Sundar Singh Ji replied, ‘I don’t know what to do, but wherever I look I see Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. Which ever direction I put my feet in, there I see Guru Nanak Dev Ji. I don’t know where to put my feet, so I sit in this position’. Sant Baba Bishan Singh Ji Muralewale replied, ‘Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj is extremely pleased by your recitation of Sri Jap ji sahib and your Dib Drishtee(celestial vision) has fully opened.' 33. JATHEDAR Sant Baba Bishan Singh Ji Muralewale Brahm Giani Sant Baba Bishan Singh ji Muralewale were born in the village Bohith, state Gujrat (now in Pakistan). They were a great scholar and had a highly disciplined rehat. Baba ji was in a family of sehajdhari Sikhs (i.e. they hadn't yet taken Amrit). They were born in the year 1852 AD to Lal Dev ji (father) and Ratna Devi (mother). Baba ji were placed at the charan/feet of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji at the Gurdwara, as soon as they were born and then bathed. The Granthi Singh at the Gurdwara performed the birth ceremony as per the rehat maryada of a Gursikh, thus giving Baba ji the gurti (blessings) of Amrit. After the Ardas a Hukamnama was taken and Baba ji was named Bishan Singh. By doing the sangat of other Gursikh Saints, Baba ji learnt Gurmukhi and memorized Sri Jap(u) ji Sahib ji. By the age of 13 they had already visited the following historical religious places: Sri Harmandir Sahib Amritsar, Taran Taaran Sahib, Ganga, Paraagraj, Badree Nath, Dehradoon, Rameshvar, Mathra, Ayudhia, Nankana Sahib, Dera Sahib Lahore, Kartarpur Sahib, and Kiratpur Sahib. At the age of 21, while at Amritsar, Baba ji was impressed by the Gursikhs there. It was here where they decided the time was right to join the Khalsa Panth and take Amrit. They did this at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. Baba ji would recite Gurbani with great concentration, and spent much time meditating on both Gurmantar and Moolmantar. They learnt Sanskrit, jog mat, puran simritian and grammar from Pandit Tara Singh and Pandit Sadhoo Singh. They spent 9 years studying these. After this time Baba ji came to the sangat of Sant Giani Harnam Singh ji Bedi. Baba ji became one of the main sevadars of Giani ji. Baba ji learnt the knowledge of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji and all the history of our Guru Sahibs from Giani ji. Baba ji were then given the seva of teaching other Gursikhs and performing the daily Katha. Baba ji would forever keep their concentration at the charan of Akal Purkh. They were very strict in their rehat, especially with their kakkars. They forever stayed clear of the four cardinal sins and never let a bad thought cross their mind, even in a dream. After Sant Ameer Singh ji left the world, the sangat of Murale requested Baba ji to come to Murale and have fixed abode there. At Murale there were about 200 students of Gurbani becoming kathakars, keertanis and paathis. Sant Giani Sundar Singh ji Bhindranwale, Sant Baba Prem Singh ji Muralewale and Sant Baba Bhagat Singh ji Ghebewale were among Baba ji's students. The langar (free kitchen) Seva Baba ji performed at Murale was great, langar was made available for the sangat at all times. Baba ji would perform Katha for two hours at Amrit vela. After this they would go somewhere quiet and for the rest of the day attach themselves to the charan of Akal Purkh in deep meditation. Baba ji loved to partake in Seva themselves. After doing their ishnaan (bath) and nitnem, before performing the daily Katha, Baba ji would fill 150 buckets of water for the ishnaan of their students. They would then clean the floor of the Gurdwara and then complete the Seva of Guru ji's parkash. Everyday Baba ji would ground new flour for degh. Baba ji would say; "the degh is to be offered to our 10 Guru Sahibs, we should therefore never use old flour when making degh." After a while Sant Giani Sundar Singh ji started to perform all the seva that Baba ji was doing. Nobody was allowed to talk about anything other than reciting Gurbani or doing simran of Gurmantar or Moolmantar, at the Gurdwara in Murale. In those days Baba ji would only eat a couple of handfuls of beans and pulses, and a few cupfuls of water. They would spend 23 hours a day doing simran, remembering Akal Purkh. Baba ji had such a good lifestyle and had reached a great spiritual state that once on the night of Diwali, a few Gursikhs asked them to come outside and see the candles and lights the sangat had lighten. Baba ji gave them the following reply: "For many years now I haven't looked up to see the ceiling of this room. I haven't seen the moon, the sun or the stars. Why do we need to see these lights of the universe? Let me stay here and see the light of Waheguru in my heart, the lighter of all of these lights." Before Baba ji ascended to Sach Khand, they appointed Sant Giani Sundar Singh ji the next Jathedar of Damdami Taksal, who was forever disciplined in Gursikh rehat and completely understood the knowledge of Gurbani. In the year 1905 at the age of 53, after the bhog of an Akhand Paath, Baba ji left the world for Sach Khand.

  34. JATHEDAR Sant Harnam Singh Ji Bedi Punjab and its surrounding areas are full of great history. It is an honour that Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sahib ji planted the roots of Sikhi in this area. As Sikhi has grown there have been many saints and warriors that have resided in this area. There have been sacrifices for Sikhi in history and Damdami Taksal has always been at the forefront of these. One type of sacrifice is the sacrifice of a Giani, who studies Gurbani and then spends all of his time teaching and preaching to others. Sant Baba Harnam Singh ji Bedi made this sacrifice. Baba ji was a great kathakar, forever attached to the charan (feet) of Akal Purkh. They were taught the knowledge of Gurbani from Bhai Jaswant Singh ji. They also studied the Vars of Bhai Gurdas ji, Sri Gur Partap Suraj Granth, and other religious granths. After Sant Giani Bhagvan Singh ji left the world for Sach Khand. Sant Baba Harnam Singh ji Bedi became the jathedar of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji's Damdami Taksal. Baba ji taught many Gursikhs the understanding of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji, and other religious granths within Amritsar. Sant ji would also partake in the seva of Panj Pyare at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib ji where people would take Amrit and get initiated into the Khalsa Panth/Nation. Gursikhs taught by Baba ji, where ever they went, taught others the knowledge of Gurbani and spread the word of Sikhi. Sant ji would everyday go to Sri Akal Takhat Sahib and listen to the nitnem (daily prayers) and Shabad Keertan (singing of hymns). They started the method of doing translations by 'anve arth' - a unique method of translating Gurbani. Baba ji taught many famous Gursikhs such as: Sant Baba Bishan Singh ji Muralewale, Sant Giani Sundar Singh ji Bhindranwale, Mahant Haakam Singh ji Amritsar, Mahant Harnam Singh ji Muralewale and Sant Bishan Singh ji Kareet. Baba ji stayed at Dera Baba Joga Singh ji Amritsar and was the Head Granthi at Sri Harmandir Sahib ji. All the Gianis of that time, in Amritsar, were students of Baba ji. They never stopped teaching the understanding of Gurbani, even at a very old age. They also had the chance to teach many Nirmale, Udasis, Adanshahee and Majbee Sikhs. Sant Baba Harnam Singh ji Bedi would always wear black and left the world where they stayed at Dera Baba Joga Singh ji.

  35. JATHEDAR Sant Giani Bhagvaan Singh ji Sant Giani Bhagvan Singh ji learnt Gurbani and studied religion from Sant Daya Singh ji. Sant ji gave Sant Giani Bhagvan Singh ji the Dastar (turban, meaning leadership) of Damdami Taksal. They would reside in the Majeethiaa Bunga (one of the two towers at Sri Harmandir Sahib). Throughout their life they did an immense amount of Gursikhi parchar. Sant Giani Bhagvan Singh ji would spend most of their time reciting Gurbani. They were not affected by maya (worldly illusion) and had a disciplined rehat. While staying at Amritsar they taught and groomed many kathakars and paathis. Three famous Gursikhs Sant Harnam Singh ji, Sant Fateh Singh ji and Sant Ameer Singh ji were students of Giani ji. Sant Ameer Singh ji later became jathedar of the Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh branch of Damdami Taksal. Sant Ameer Singh ji is famous for producing a full sateek of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. Sant Giani Bhagvan Singh ji were a great poet and scholar, and spoke with much devotion. They believed that all our Guru's, including eternal Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, are the incarnations of Akal Purkh. Giani ji showed immense respect to the Bani of the Bhagats, and produced a sateek of their Bani. It was published in Lahore in 1897, with Bhai Gurmukh Singh Sidhana doing the seva for the printing. Sant ji were asked by the sangat to produce this sateek, as they argued that the Bani has such a deep meaning and the sateek would assist the understanding of many. Giani ji said that this Bani is beyond human description, just as is for all Gurbani. At the start of the sateek they state the following: "I have little sense, with Guru ji's blessings, the understanding I have learnt, that is what I have written. Guru ji is with us and will ferry us across the ocean that is the world." Thus giving us evidence of their nimrata (humbleness), by producing this sateek Giani ji has done a great Seva for the Panth.

  36. JATHEDAR Sant Daya Singh Ji Sant Daya Singh ji became the Jathedar of Damdami Taksal after Giani Bhai Sant Singh ji. Sant ji would daily perform Katha at Darbar Sahib and teach his students the knowledge of Gurbani in the Parkarma. Gursikhs were made into great Kathakars (preachers) and paathis (readers of Gurbani) by Sant ji. One of their best students was Giani Bhagvan Singh ji who wrote Gurbani sateeks and was later honored with the Seva of being Jathedar of Damdami Taksal. The son of Bhai Daya Singh ji was involved in a murder. The courts decided that he would be hung. The Gursikh sangat asked Sant ji what should be done to save him. Sant ji declared that what will be, will be, they stayed within the Hukam of Akal Purkh and their son was hung. They didn't show any attachment or ego throughout this period. They stated the following to their widowed daughter in law: "Your husband has passed away. If you want worldly pleasures, then you can leave but if you want the happiness of Guru Sahib ji, then stay and take part in the langar seva of the Gursikh sangat." She decided to stay and defeated her attachment of worldly pleasures. Whoever did the sangat of Sant ji would defeat this attachment also. Sant ji were strict in their rehat (discipline) and along with doing a lot of meditation, they would preach Gursikhi. Many people took Amrit just by listening to them. There was a saying within the Gursikhs of the time: Aurangzeb wouldn't have made the same number of Muslims with his sword as Sant ji made Gursikhs with his preaching and by their exemplary lifestyle. With great love and respect, Sant ji was known as Dilbar (the knower of your heart) by the Gursikh sangat.

  38. JATHEDAR Giani Bhai Sant Singh Ji After Bhai Sant Singh ji left the world for Sach Khand, their younger brother Giani Bhai Sant Singh ji was honored with the leadership of Damdami Taksal. Giani ji was the youngest son of Giani Soorat Singh ji. Giani ji was taught Gurbmat Vidiya by his father and elder brother, previous Jathedars of Damdami Taksal. From 1790 AD Giani ji performed Katha of the daily Hukamnama at Sri Harmandir Sahib. Other Gursikhs would partake in Gurmat Vidiya while Giani ji would be doing katha, as there would be five Maharaj Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji's Saroops parkash (installed). Giani ji had the honour of teaching the famous Sikh poets Kavi Bhai Santokh Singh ji and Kavi Bhai Megh Singh ji. Giani ji was a great scholar, a true worshiper of Akal Purkh, and an enlightened Gursikh. They had great knowledge of the Sanskrit and Brij languages. Giani ji would perform katha with great splendour and spirit. One day Maharaja Ranjit Singh after hearing the daily Katha of Giani ji thought of testing him, the Maharaja knew that Giani performed Katha daily and never missed this Seva. He sent two of mesangers requesting the company of Giani ji to meet the Maharaja. Giani ji respectfully sat the two down and served them food. After a while Maharaja Ranjit Singh sent another two messengers, as Giani ji still hadn't arrived. Giani ji treated the second two just as they did the first two. It had come the time to perform Katha at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Giani ji took these four messengers with them to Sri Harimandir Sahib. With Giani ji still not arriving at Maharaja Ranjit Singh's palace, the Maharaja decided to go to Darbar Sahib himself. He was impressed with the discipline of Giani ji that they didn't miss performing the daily Katha just to see him. Giani ji as well as being the Jathedar of Damdami Taksal was the Head Granthi (Priest) of Sri Harmandir Sahib. They would always make themselves available to talk with and discuss issues with any Gursikh who would come and see them. They would also take part in the seva of cleansing the Parkarma (outer path), picking up the droppings of birds with their own hands. They would also pick up any hair and burn them as per the Rehat Maryada (Code of Conduct) of a Gursikh. Giani ji would do Seva of Sri Guru Ram Das Sahib ji's Darbar (Court) with much passion. They had such great discipline that even when one of their grandsons passed away they still didn't miss any of their daily Seva. Maharaja Ranjit Singh once fell in battle and was injured. It was Giani ji who picked him up on their back and brought him back to the fort. For the rest of his life, Maharaja Ranjit Singh didn't forget this great deed. Giani ji was the teacher of Shazade Kanwar Naunihal Singh. They also oversaw the Seva of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, when Sri Harmandir Sahib was covered in gold, they ensured that this was completed with the greatest respect for Guru Sahib ji. Giani ji persuaded Bhai Desa Singh to complete the seva of covering the two Nishan Sahibs at Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai in gold. Giani ji had great discipline and were complete in Seva and Simran (meditation). In the words of Kavi Megh Singh, Giani ji was a great scholar and a strong athletic person. They left the world for Sach Khand in the year 1832 AD. They left three sons: Bhai Deva Singh, Bhai Gurmukh Singh and Bhai Jodh Singh. Bhai Gurmukh Singh became the head granthi at Darbar Sahib after them.

Bhai Sahib ji became the Jathedar of Damdami Taksal after his father and continued the teaching of Gurbani Santhia and performing Katha at Sri Harmandir Sahib. Bhai Sahib ji's son, Bhai Sher Singh became Shaheed fighting for the Khalsa Panth. Somebody asked them, "What is your emotional state after the Shaheedi of your son?" Bhai Sahib ji replied by quoting from Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji: jb lgu moh mgn sMig mwie ] As long as he is intoxicated with attachment to Maya, qb lgu Drmrwie dyie sjwie ] the Righteous Judge - Dharam Raja shall punish him. Bhai Ram Singh ji studied Gurbani from Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh ji and propagated the teachings of Sikhi throughout Jhang. The Rulers minister in the area disliked what Bhai Soorat Singh ji was doing, so along with his family he relocated to Amritsar. He would offer his respect to his sarbloh shastars i.e. kirpans, chakars, toRaas (metal cable tied around dastaar), kaRas, etc and then put them on. He would finally put on a mala of sarbloh around his neck and also many sarbloh kaRas and simarnaas. Baba jee's dastaar had many sarbloh toRaas tied into it. He would also wear a sarbloh armour. Other features Panth Parkash mentions about the way Baba jee looked was that he wore a very long 1.5 yard kacherra and always kept a long stick with him. Every amrit vela then, after dressing himself in his baaNaa, Baba jee sat in the divaan at Sree Akaal Takhat Sahib. It did not matter who came to meet him, whether a powerful Sardar or a lowly peasant, he greeted all people in the same way and with the same respect. He had absolutely no worldly aspirations or greed. Whenever there was a battle, Baba jee would always go and confront the enemy. He would take the Nishaan Sahib himself and advance. With the beat of the nagara, Baba jee used to be in the forefront to confront the enemy. Abdali's Oppression and the Khalsa Scatters The Khalsa had scattered when Ahmed Shah Abdali brought his army through the Punjab. Some Singhs went to the mountains where they were looted by the mountain-people; others went and hid around the rivers where they were not only looted but also attacked by lions and other animals. Those Singhs who decided to stay in Majha and not retreat were turned over to the Afghans by traitors and informers. In Malwa, the Singhs also fared no better and had to go from house to house like beggars. At Sree Amritsar, the Sarbat Khalsa gathered one day and after the night divaan, decided to abandon Sree Amritsar and leave together as a group for Malwa. Baba Jee Offers His Shaheedee After the decision had been made, Baba Gurbaksh Singh rose and addressed the Singhs. Baba jee said, "Is there any Singh in the Panth today, who would fight with the Afghans and sacrifice his head and then go to Dargah and with his sacrifice have Karta-Purakh listen to his request and ensure the Chardi Kala of the Panth? One who could do ardaas to Karta-Purakh and bring an end to these dark days? Is there any Singh who is so determined and is such a devotee of naam and one who is so strong in rehit? Is there anyone who will give his life for the rest of the Khalsa and with his sacrifice be able to wipe out the enemy?" [it is said that when the enemy kills a bhagat of Vahiguru, the bad karma of committing such an act results in the enemy also being wiped out. Baba jee was asking if there was such a bhagat in the Panth who could give such a sacrifice and destroy the Afghans]. The Singhs listened to Baba Gurbaksh Singh and replied, "Baba jee, is there any Singh better for this than you? There is no one with more kamaiee. No one else has the power to abandon their body and go to Dargah like you do. No one else's request will be more acceptable to Vahiguru than yours." Baba jee listened to these words and then bowed his head and agreed to the request. Baba jee Prepares His Wedding Party Baba jee then called out, "I want to be Shaheed! If there is any other Gurmukh who wishes to come with me to Dargah, then let them also come. When there is a marriage, the groom goes with his Sarbaalha (best man) and with a large baraat (marriage party). I am going to marry the bride of Death. Are there Singhs who would be my Sarbaalhas?" Hearing Baba jee's call, many Singhs rose and stood with Baba jee. They said, "We were waiting for your call. With your permission we will be your Sarbaalhas." Seeing these Singhs stand, many more Singhs also rose and said "then we all will come with you in the baraat!" Baba jee then adressed all the Singhs and said, "Khalsa jee! You have all agreed to join my wedding party. We will give our heads in this Dharam Yudh and in this way we will be married. We will get Shaheedee and Guru Sahib will give us all Kingships. No, even bigger rewards than kingships. That Singh who gives his head in battle will be the King of Kings. " The Singhs Prepare for The "Wedding" By this time, Ahmed Shah Abdali had arrived in Lahore. He was preparing to go to Delhi when he heard about the gathering of the Khalsa at Sree Amritsar. He decided that on the way to Delhi, he would stop at Sree Amritsar and slaughter all the Sikhs. Hearing of the advance of Abdali, some of the cowards who had remained at Sree Amritsar with Baba jee ran away. Baba jee also encouraged them to leave and said "Go! Leave now, otherwise we won't let you leave later!" Only about 30 Singhs now remained. The remaining Singhs were all chardee kala naam abhyaasee Gursikhs. They prepared for their death like a groom prepares for his wedding. They all had new cholas sewn. Some decided to sew blue, and others wore white and others kesree. They gathered in front of Sree Akaal Takhat Sahib and eagerly awaited the enemy. They would stand on their toes to see if the enemy was yet visible on the horizon. They were discussing how they would give their Shaheedees and then in Dargah would stop the Afghan attacks forever. The following day, the Singhs all rose at amrit vela. They began to prepare like it was their wedding day. They sprinkled themselves with attar and rose scents, and rubbed sandal past on their bodies. As they did this, they sang "GhoReeaa(n)" shabads from Sree Guru Granth Sahib. They then bathed in Sree Amritsar Sahib and then gathered at Sree Akaal Takhat. Baba jee was looking very impressive in his new dress. He was wearing a blue chola over his new kacherra and was wearing a very tight dumalla, which was tied especially for battle. The dumalla had many chakars and kirpaans tied into it. The Singhs then gathered and offered obeisance to Sree Guru Granth Sahib. After reading 5 pauRees of Anand Sahib and doing ardaas, the Singhs distributed Degh and then as a group left for darshan of Sree Darbaar Sahib. The group of Singhs was led by a Nishaan Sahib and nagaaras were beating. Baba jee asked the Singhs to sing shabads of happiness as this was their wedding day and the wedding party was now moving. Baba jee and the other Singhs also gave away all the money they had to the needy. They arrived at Sree Darbaar Sahib and did parkarma. Once inside, they showered Sree Guru Granth Sahib with flowers and then did Ardaas. Baba jee standing before Satguru Granth Sahib spoke the following words, "True Emperor, protector of the poor! Your Khalsa is going now to marry the bride of Death. We are going to battle the Dushts. Satguru jee! May our Sikhee and our kesh stay intact through our final breaths." The Afghans in the meantime had began to move towards Sree Amritsar. They had prepared for a massive battle and brought a large army. They were wearing armour and metal helmets. They had decided to do battle in such a way that the Singhs would be killed but they themselves would incur minimal casualties. They had brought long weapons which could kill from a distance such as large guns. Baba jee, after offering ardaas at Sree Darbaar Sahib, returned with the Singhs to Sree Akaal Takhat Sahib to listen to keertan and await the enemy. The keertanees began to recite keertan and the Singhs would ask that certain shabads they wanted to hear be sung. The GhoReeaa(n) shabads were again recited. In this way, the entire night passed in listening to keertan. At day break, the enemy had arrived. The Afghans Arrive & The Battle Begins The Singhs upon seeing the Afghan army came down from Sree Akaal Takhat Sahib. They bowed to their shastars (kirpaans, kataars and talwaars) and then grabbed them. Some Singhs grabbed very big sticks and others mounted horses. The Singhs vied to go ahead of each other and kept moving forward. They Singhs argued about who had the right to attain Shaheedee first. The Nishaan Sahibs were furling and the beat of nagaaraas was echoing. The Singhs were like grooms anxious to marry a beautiful wife and seeing the time come closer, becoming more and more excited. Some Singhs then ran forward and began the battle. The Singhs would sprint forward and began to embrace Shaheedee and complete their weddings with death. The Singhs were surrounded on all four sides and the Afghans began to close in. Baba jee called out to all the Singhs, "Singhs! Step forward and embrace martyrdom! If we step forward, our honour remains intact, if we step back, they will say we are retreating! Do not look for assistance anymore, just go forward! Now go forward and give your heads!" Hearing Baba jee's cry, the Singhs all charged forward. They fell upon the Afghans like a lion on deer. The Singhs were all eager to become Shaheed as quickly as possible. They had no hope for life. Baba jee again called out, "Khalsa jee! Become Shaheed and cross this world-ocean! Let us go to the court of Satguru jee and ask that the Afghans never attack here again and that the Khalsa should rule! What is the delay now? Fall upon the enemy!" The Afghans Fall Back & Reinforcements Wherever the Singhs stood their ground against the Afghans, they eventually fell. Afghan reinforcements also arrived. Not one Singh stepped back. Some Afghans even began to run away. Seeing this, Baba jee bellowed, "Don't let them go Khalsa jee! Stand and fight this Dharam Yudh!" The Afghans did not understand what Baba jee was saying and were surprised to the see the Singhs run after them. They then trained their guns upon the Singhs. Many Singhs standing with Baba jee fell to the rain of bullets. Baba jee then took out his heavy Tegha and ran towards the enemy. He swung his Tegha with such force that it cut through the armour of the Afghans. Baba jee would aim for the face and neck where there was less armour. The Afghans all then began to cover their faces with their shields. The Singhs seeing the cowardice of the Afghans threw aside their own shields and challenged, "look! We've thrown aside our shields, do you have the bravery to do the same? We'll take your blows without any shield, will you take ours?" The Singhs continued to run forward and did not show any fear of death. They did not so much as look backwards. The Afghans continued to fall back and began to wonder why such a small group was not finishing and whether these few Singhs would cause their defeat. They could not bear the brunt of the Singhs' sword blows. They fell back and began to fire bullets and arrows. Baba Jee's Shaheedee Baba jee's body was pierced by many bullets and arrows and his wounds could not be counted. Some cut through his skin and others broke bones. But neither did the Singhs accept defeat nor would they acknowledge any pain. Baba jee's body was pouring blood like a spring. But Baba jee kept moving forward. He was soaked in blood like he had just been playing Holi with colours. Eventually because of loss of blood, Baba jee became very weak. He could not walk anymore and became very tired. But with every ounce of strength in his being, he put on foot ahead of the other. He was careful that no one would say he retreated. Baba jee called to the remaining Singhs, "Singhs! Do not shame the BaaNaa we wear! May our Shaheedees be perfect and may we fall in the battlefield!" By this time, even more Afghan reinforcements arrived. The new Afghans surrounded the wounded Baba jee and pierced him with their long spears. Baba jee with great effort used his khanda to cut off the spears and the Afghans again fell back. Baba jee would not look back but the enemy had surrounded him and knocked him to the ground from behind with a blow from a spear. Baba jee fell to his knees. Baba jee thought in his mind, "I cannot let go of my khanda. If I let it go, the enemy may consider me helpless and not attack. I will not be able to become Shaheed and my wish will not be fulfilled. If I do not take care of this moment, who knows if I ever get the opportunity for Shaheedee again?" edited. . .taksals ithaas is different to what was stated here. . .as per katha by previous jathedars The Aftermath Night fell and the Afghans were in shock after seeing such a bloody battle. They set up camp near the Bhangi fort and fell into a deep sleep. The few Singhs that had remained hidden in the area though rose at night and attacked the camp. The Singhs stole horses and began to slaughter the exhausted Afghans. The remaining Afghans could not sleep in peace and at day break, they quickly fled from the area. The same night, a few other Singhs came to the scene of the battle to see what had happened. They saw the headless bodies of the Singhs and many many Afghans. The Singhs decided to make one big pyre and cremate all the bodies together. Behind Sree Akaal Takhat Sahib, a lot of wood was gathered and all the bodies were cremated together. Degh was distributed and the Singhs celebrated as though a great wedding had taken place. The Shaheed Ganj of Baba Gurbaksh Singh still stands at that place. Baba jee's Shaheedee was glorious and indeed, the Afghan power did begin to fall after this point. Within a few years, the Sikhs began to rule Punjab and the Sikh Kingdoms were established. In today's dark period, where again the Sikhs are powerless and attacked from all sides, do we still have Shaheeds who can give their sacrifice and return power to the Khalsa?

  42. JATHEDAR Shaheed Baba Gurbaksh Singh Ji Bhai Dasaunda Singh and Mata Lachmi ji from the village Leel (near Khemkaran), District Amritsar, came to the live in the company of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji and the Sikh Sangats (Congregation). Guru ji commanded them both to take part in the Seva (selfless service) of the house of the Lord with love. Impressed with their selfless service, Guru ji granted their wish and blessed them with a son who would be a saint-soldier, Baba Gurbaksh Singh ji was born in 1688 AD. At the age of 11, in the year 1699, Baba ji entered the path of Sikhi by taking Khande di Pahul (initiation ceremony of Sikhi, known as taking Amrit). Baba ji was15 years old, when both his parents passed away at Anandpur Sahib. Bhai Mani Singh ji and Baba Deep Singh ji taught Baba ji Gurmat Vidiya (Knowledge), he was also trained in Shastar Vidiya and became members of Baba Deep Singh ji's battalaion. When Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji left Anandpur Sahib, He ordered Baba ji to stay there and continue Gurmat Parchar (preaching Sikhi) and manage the Gurdwaras. Upon the Shaheedi (Martyrdom) of Baba Deep Singh ji, Baba Gurbaksh Singh ji was appointed as the next Jathedar (Leader) of Damdami Taksal. Just like Baba Deep Singh ji, Baba ji produced Pothis and Gutke (anthologies) of Gurbani and sent them to places of need. In 1765 when Ahmed Shah Abdali attacked India for the 10th time, Baba ji was the Jathedar of both Damdami Taksal and Sri Akal Takhat Sahib(Sikh Temporal Throne). After bathing in the holy Sarover (pool of nectar), along with 30 other Sikhs from his battalion, Baba ji offered Karah parsad at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Holiest Sikh Shrine) and at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib and then made the following ardas to Guru Sahib ji: "Satguru ji may my Sikhi last with my kes (hair) intact." After taking Hukam (the command from Guru ji) from Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and reciting "Ghoriaa(n)" (a prayer abot marriage), the Sikhs stated that they were going to wed death. The Afghan forces of Ahmed Shah Abdali attacked the Sikhs and a vicious war began. Das Hazari Khan and Baba ji were in battle, they simultaneously landed blows upon each other and they were both decapitated. Baba ji continued fighting without his head, seeing this the enemy were horrified and were quick to retreat. Baba ji continued killing off the tyrants and was relentless in his attacks, a Muslim Saint advised the Afghan army said that the only way to stop Baba ji, who wouldn't retreat, was to beg for forgiveness at the feet of the Sikhs Guru for all the atrocities they caused and promise not to come back again. "Forgive us our misdeeds and evil actions," their General begged. It was only then that Baba ji stopped and laid his body to rest. Baba ji's cremation took place behind Sri Akal Takhat Sahib according to the rites of the death ceremony of Sikhi. Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj (behind Sri Akhal Takhat Sahib) commemorates Baba ji's Shaheedi. Baba ji is remembered as one of the great Shaheeds of the Panth and will forever be remembered as a true Saint-Soldier. damdamitaksal.com

  43. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Damdami Taksal's 1st Jathedar Dhan Dhan Baba Deep Singh Ji. There isn’t enough ink, or paper or pens to praises this beloved Sahibzada of Dhan Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. Many people come into this world and vow to die for a cause. But Baba Ji’s jeevan was such that instead of vowing to die he had vowed to live until his mission was accomplished. Rather than writing Baba Ji's jeevani in this post, I will only focus on his shaheedi and the events which led up to it. As news filtered through Punjab of the desecration of Sachkhand Sri Darbar Sahib, Sikh hearts began to cry tears of blood. The world stood quiet as this ghastly act took place. The Earth and the Sky readied themselves for the Khalsa’s swift response as time itself had stood witness to the fact that no matter how few Sikhs were left they would always pick up their arms to fight against tyranny. The land of Punjab stood in a state of stillness as Baba Ji sat at Sri Damdama Sahib immersed in Naam Simran. Baba Deep Singh Ji finally got up and taking the name of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on his lips and carrying the Khanda of Guru Gobind Singh Ji in his hands came out of his tent. Suddenly a stir beginning from where Baba Ji was standing, and running like a wave along the line, it brought the Khalsa to its feet. A silence fell on everyone at once, for each felt that the momentous `now' had come to stand up to those who had dared to blemish the house of God. This decision of Baba Deep Singh Ji was flashed from village to village in the Malwa belt. The fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters of the Khalsa Panth rose up in large numbers and answered this valiant call of Baba Ji by placing their services at his disposal. The army of Akaal Purakh adorned themselves with his colours, and picked up his weapons, and sung his praises as they began to march towards their guru and his house. When these beloved Sikhs of Guru Sahib reached Taran Taaran Sahib they bathed in the holy Sarover. Baba Deep Singh Ji then took the Khanda of Guru Gobind Singh Ji out from its scabbard and drew a line through the earth. Baba Ji in a loud voice addressed the Ladlee Fauj of Guru Sahib as follows, “Whoever fears for their life, whoever has any attachment, whoever does not want to walk towards their guru with their head held in the palm of their hand can turn around and go back to their homes. Whoever has love for their guru and for sikhi should step forward and cross this line, but beloved Khalsa of Guru Gobind Singh Ji once we cross this line there will be no turning back. There will be no rest and there will be no food or water or any of our loved ones. There is only death past this line. To liberate Sri Darbar Sahib every Sikh who steps over this line will have to give all their blood to this cause. We will make a river of blood which will drown these tyrants and wash them away from our land forever.” As soon as Baba Ji had finished all the Singhs began to run across the line. Baba Ji then led the sangat in an ardas to Guru Sahib. The Singhs asked Maharaj to bless this marriage of theirs and to prepare for them as they readied themselves to return to his kingdom. During this ardas Baba Ji made a vow that no matter how much blood he would spill, no matter how many times he would be cut, no matter how many arrows pierced his body, no matter how much pain he had to endure, he would not become shaheed until SachKhand Sri Darbar Sahib was liberated and its sanctity restored. As the ardas concluded all the Singhs bellowed Jaikaray and began to sing, “Jo to praym khaylan ka chaao, sir dhar talee galee mayree aao.” (Those who wish to play the game of love, come to me with your head in your palm.) “It maarag pair dhareejai, sir deejai kaan na keejai.” (If you wish your feet to travel this path, don't delay in accepting to give your head.) As Jaikarays thundered through Punjab, the world shook and the Afghan spies quickly sent reports to Jahan Khan that a blue and saffron wave of steel was pouring towards Amritsar. At once 20,000 Afghan troops were mobilised and dispatched towards Taran Taraan Sahib in an attempt to crush the brave hearts of Punjab. As the Afghan army reached the village of Goharwal, they saw the blue and saffron uniforms of the Khalsa appearing amongst the trees. As they watched the approach of this wave the numbers began to increase, and the field of blue and saffron grew larger and larger until it seemed to stretch as far as the eye could see, and from the tops of the hills down to the edges of the stream gathered the Ladlee Fauj of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The Nishaan Sahibs were furling and the beat of nagaaraas was echoing throughout the skies. Upon seeing the Afghan army the Singhs vied to go ahead of each other to drink the nectar of martyrdom. The Singhs charged forward and met the Afghan Forces in a fierce battle 5 miles away from Amritsar. They fell upon the Afghans like a lion on a deer, despite the fact that they were hopelessly outnumbered. The Khalsa fought with such potency that the Afghans slain lay in rows precisely as they had stood in their ranks a few moments before. Victory seemed at hand for the Khalsa but just then Afghan reinforcements arrived in their thousands. The Afghan Army seeing reinforcements arrive began to launch several attacks on the bravest battalion of the Khalsa Army headed by Baba Deep Singh Ji, but these warrior lions of Guru Gobind Singh did not lose faith. Raising his Khanda Baba Deep Singh Ji’s thundering voice gave power to the battle cry Jaikara - "JO BOLE SO NIHAL", Every single Singh roared the response "SAT SRI AKAAL" . The Khalsa’s spirits rose, new life was injected into them with each jaekara. They faced the Afghans with rejuvenated spirits, just seeing the fire in the army of Akaal Purakh eyes was enough to send the Afghans running in all directions. United, like the waves in the ocean, by their deep blue battle-dress and turbans, they fought against all the odds and faced the rain of enemy bullets, stones, and arrows. Hacking their way through treacherous terrain, they hammered their way towards Amritsar. Baba Deep Singh Ji’s body at this time had been pierced with hundreds of arrows and bullets but still he was marching forward at a relentless speed. His once blue chola was now completely red and soaked in his blood. It is said that Baba Deep Singh Ji’s movements as he single handily cut through the Afghan ranks reflected the Taandav dance of Shiva. Seeing his men falling to the floor one of the commanders of the Afghan army, Jamal Khan attacked Baba Deep Singh Ji with his sword. As Jamal Khan’s sword stuck, so did Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Khanda and in that split second both their heads were severed from their bodies. As Baba Ji’s head fell towards the Earth, a Singh shouted out, ‘Baba Ji you had vowed to drink the nectar of martyrdom only when Sri Darbar Sahib is liberated, there are still thousands of enemy soldiers.’ Before Baba Ji’s head touched the floor his body knelt down and with his left hand he caught his head and held it in the palm of his hand. With his right hand he began to swing the Khanda of Guru Gobind Singh Ji with such force that those soldiers around him began to be chopped to pieces. No longer could you see the body or the radiant face of this saint soldier, all that was visible in the battle field was a giant ball of steel which was leading the Khalsas push towards the house of Guru Ram Das Ji. Upon seeing this river of blood destroying anything which stood in its way, most of the soldiers in the Afghan army began to repent and fled away in terror. Those that remained on the battle field were decimated as the Khalsa storm approached Amritsar. When the battle was over Baba Deep Singh Ji and the few Singhs who were left stepped on the parkarma around Sachkhand Sri Darbar Sahib. Baba Ji did a final ardas to Maharaj before he placed his head at the feet of Dhan Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. The Singhs who were with Baba Ji had all suffered mortal wounds but through the power of ardas and amrit they were able to fight on. After ensuring that the Kesri Nishan Sahib was hoisted above Sri Darbar Sahib these Singhs waited for Dhan Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji to come so that he could take them back home. Bhai Mahit Singh and Baba Naudh Singh are two other Singhs who also fought in this battle without heads. Today every second Baba Deep Singh Ji draws that same line through the world. Will you cross it and live to the standards of the Khalsa or will you continue to sit in silence as this beautiful path of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is set on fire by those enemies of humanity?
