We are these programmes all in the midlands when the largest (and influential) sangat is in southall. Singh Sabha southall has never done a dasam Granth programme. The current committee at the largest gurdwara outside india needs to get their act together and hold a wicked programme that promotes dasam Granth. Please ask the committee members and perhaps with guru jis wisdom they will listen to the Sangat. Gurfateh.

Gurdwaras and their committees exist to promote Sikhi as according to the Akal Takht Mayada -whilst Sikhi promotes equality amongst all of humanity, it does NOT allow the promotion of anti Sikh tenants. 1. SCUK has done a GREAT job in bringing all the Jathebandi and Gurdwarae in the UK together as one voice. Im born and educated in London and now spend alot of my work time in India. One thing is apparent. When I grew up, I always thought I was a Sikh foremost and when I met another Sikh was generally warm towards to them -which Im sure is quite common in how we were bought up in England. Now, when I goto India (Delhi, Bangalore, etc) the Sikhs just ignore you. I have many Indian friends from India and they have always consistently said how brave the Sikhs have been through Indian history, farmers, love the bhangra, drinking whiskey, etc -just general sterotype/ friendly banter. In India, Sikhs are Punjabis foremost, who see themselves as Indian per sae -not Sikhs ! Its like when you see a white guy in London, he is white first then Christain, Jewish, Atheist, etc. Sameway, Brit Asia is a Punjabi music channel first. It does nothing for Sikhi therefore why call it a 'Sikh channel' and compare it to the Islamic channels ? The difference with muslims is there is no difference between being a muslim or pak/ arab -its always muslim first. They are the only ones who are like that. Watch Brit Asia for a bit of Punjabi chav bhangra, yes the girls may come from Punjabi backgrounds but they are doing nothing promoting Sikhi by the way they are. Dont muddle the two -ok !

Southall is a grave place. Youth from Punjab with no hope other than drugs (its massive). The Sabha does nothing to help the youth with their drug problem.

sohi is: 1. anti Dasm Granth parchaar 2. pro Darshan lal 3. openly says that Guru Nanak says everyone is equal, therefore marrying non-Sikhs like his neices have done is acceptable in Sikhi 4. funded by the johals. son-in-law is a multi-millionaire banker (gave the school 100k straight as a donation) 5. a simple guy. tainted. tarnished. just wants to serve the community 6. doesnt skim the golak 7. saved the sabha from bankruptcy 8. does the whole community cohesion agenda with the police/ media/ polticians. I just saw the Jathedhars at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, South Birmingham. They blessed the sangat and encouraged everyone to follow the maryada. It was good to see them.

Spot on G-kaur ! THere are strong, proven processes in place for application, selection and appeal. Get over it and move on... This is the usual try and name and shame. The school is a great insitution, going from strength to strengh. My cousin left Greenford to come to GNS, Hayes and her results improved within the year. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM SLANDERING THE SCHOOL -ALL THE STUDENTS (AND IM SURE STAFF) ARE PROUD OF THE SCHOOL.

We're not talking about children being forced to convert but adults right? It's there choice people aren't stupid. If that's what they want to do good luck to them. We all have out own path in life, perhaps this is there's. Not everything in life has a conspiracy theory behind it. I do know of one Sikh guy that married a Hindu girl and he's teaches his kids about Sikhi but his wife wouldn't allow him to put Singh and Kaur in the kids names. When someone marries someone from a different faith isn't it better to keep them involved in our families rather than disowning them? By keeping in contact with them in someway Sikhi will always remain with them. Think about it, if a girl married a muslim and converted we usually stop talking with her and they just go off never to be seen again, If the muslim/ hindu was welcomed they'd probs feel more awkward. I think sometimes we make it too easy for them by just telling our girls/ boys we never want to speak with them again. Just as a side thought - I was at a wedding last year and there were a few white people, they all did mutha tekh infront of SGGS Ji, would we ever see a muslim or hindu do this?

There's something a bit odd about celebrating someone's death but in this guys case I think we can all agree he got what was coming to him. We need to break down the stereotypes people around the world have when seeing us. This can only be done by going out and being seen.
